***PLEASE DISREGARD MY MID-EPISODE QUESTIONS ABOUT YMIR!  I got a little confused by what they had said about her in ep 20, without realizing that there was a difference between goddess Ymir and girl Ymir.  I'm all on the same page now so no worries!!!  :D

Hey everyone!  Here's my reaction and review of season 3, episode 21.  So after some massive info in the last ep, we start to connect the dots here.  It makes sense to me that Eren would have Grisha's memories, but the former Attack Titan (oh yeah, we know the name now!) knows Mikasa and Armin?!?!  What in the world?!  Also, Eren was able to use the Founding Titan power when he was close to Dina's Titan...!!!  That makes so much sense!  Oh yeah, and I know we are going to find a way around this 13 year thing!!!  I will not stand for Eren and Armin dying in their 20s!!!!!!!!!  >:(  Speaking of which, the letter from Ymir....!!!  I love how we're taking all the knowledge we learned in the last ep and bringing it back into our crew's story.  Great ep!  One left to go, I can't believe it!!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

just a note before I watch, the original title of this series is Shingeki no Kyojin, which translates to Advancing Titan or Advancing Titans, since plurality is vague in Japanese. this means that the title of the series was actually the Attack Titan the whole time, but due to a bad translation the impact is a little lost. since the english translation was "Attack on Titan" more translators sort of cut their losses, so the english name for it became the Attack Titan. it's still cool to appreciate the finality of this arc and how the meaning behind the name of the anime isn't found until now

kamenriderhime

Ahhh that's very interesting! Wow, once you know that translation issue, it really does bring the entire series full circle, dang. Thanks so much for the info!

To Clarify. Kruger had the attack titan. Grisha ate Kruger. Girsha ate Historia's Sister, who had the Co-ordinate/Founder Titan. Eren Yeager ate Grisha who had the Attack titan & the Founder titan.

kamenriderhime

Ahhh yes!!! Thank you! I knew that about the Founding Titan, just didn't include it in my chain-of-eating rant there haha. Thanks!

We don't know how goddess Ymir got her power but they said in last episode that when she died (13 years after having her power) her power got split into 9 titans which the one we know are the colossal titan, the armored titan, the female titan, the beast titan, the quadrupede titan, ymir's titan (we still don't know the name of that one), the attack titan and finally the founding titan. to answer your question at the end Eren now possesses 2 titans and the reason Zeke can coordinate titans is not explain but it's most likely because he has royal blood we know that only someone with royal blood can completly use titan powers. Lastly Zeke the one who turn on his parents so he knows she was a titan he just don't know she's dead. ;)

There are timelines out there in the wild, and I don't agree one hundred percent with their dating of all the different events happening in this universe. But now that we reached this point, now that we know when Eren and Grisha inherited their Titan powers and the Curse of Ymir, and that we know that Wall Maria fell in 845, we can have a rough estimate of certain things... At age 18, Grisha takes over his father's clinic and joins the Restorationists, meeting Dina. At age 19, Grisha and Dina become the parents of Zeke. At age 26 or 27, Grisha loses everything but inherets the mission and the Attack Titan. Zeke was 7 or 8. The year is 832, 13 years before Wall Maria Falls. At age 40, after the fall of Wall Maria in 845, Grisha is eaten passing on the Attack and Founding Titan to Eren, who is 10. Zeke is now 21. In the year 850, the 104th Training Corps graduates, the Colossal Titan returns, the Battle of Trost sets in motion the rest of the events of the story. So, Eren, Mikasa and Armin are now 15, Grisha would have been 45, and Zeke is now currently 26. He was made to look older because of his beard and glasses, and I guess to throw people off, even though many remarked the similarity between Zeke and Grisha.

First of all, I haven't read the manga, so I don't know what will happen. I want to discuss how similar Eren Jegar, Grisha Jager, and Eren Kruger (Owl). 1-Hatred: Owl's father's death, Grisha's sister's death, Eren's mother's death. 2-Gaining Power: Grisha meeting Grice and learning about his sister death, Eren turning into a titan inside the titan in season 1 (the titan with white beard), Owl getting into the public security 3-Turning point: Grisha scene with Owl, Eren scene with Historia trying to eat him. Note: I believe that the memories the Owl got about Mikasa, and Armin are Grisha's memories. He told Eren exactly these lines before giving him the injection. There is a possibility that these memories are someone else, and Grisha just got them, but it is unlikely. 4-Independent: both Grisha, and Owl had acted independently to achieve freedom. It seems like Eren will do the same as well and start acting independently. He already showed a sign of that by not telling anyone about Dina (Smiling Titan) and controlling the Founded Titan powers. A very cool thing most people forget is that Eren, in the first episode in season 1, had a dream, which is most likely his memories of the future. There is a slim chance that these memories are Mikasa's memories, but again it is unlikely. You can see some glimpses of his dream in S1E1.

This ending always give me the chills, ahah ! To you, in 2000 years. Title of the first episode. Almost starting with Eren having a weird dream, and waking up with Mikasa asking him if he was crying. And I litteraly just think of that, but in the previous episode, after "waking up" from his dad memory's, Mikasa asked him if he was crying... About your assumption that Reiner & Co might come from the same place than Zeke, well they did call him "our War Chief". I find it hard to believe that they would call him that way if they met for the first time during the event we saw. So at least, they already knew him beforehand. It might be hard to remember because their was two dialogues at the same time, but in the last episode, we saw a Marlean officer informing the Eldian in the internment zone that they would start "recruting" young eldians to become warrior (hence why Grisha proposed to have Zeke become a warrior), in exchange of a status of honorary Marlean for the Eldian family of the new warrior. About Ymir dying, remember a phrase she told Reiner during season 2 : "Is that after I'm eaten by one of your warrior ?". During the flashes Historia had of Ymir, the last scene was Ymir being chained up just like Eren was in that cave in the Reiss' chapel. You can deduce what you want from this... About the 13 years time limit, remember Kenny and Uri. Kenny said he was disapointed with Uri, that even if he is a monster, age and disease still got him. It's true that Uri did look frail in that scene. Guess he really was at his end (he next said that the power would be passed in Frieda). The origin of the first titan's power ? Come on, of course they won't reveal that now, they already drown us in info here :p We can now start to see that the already huge responsability on Eren's shoulders have taken a whole new dimension. His eyes during the talk with the military... and he starts keeping things to himself. He is not in a good place :( Damn this show is SO good ! And your reaction was great too ;) Thanks !

I always wondered whether Eren's' future memories in the first episode should be considered a plot hole. I mean he hadn't been turned into a titan yet, so how did he access the memories? Unless all descendants of Eldian's can access the memories regardless:)

Adam Stinnett

It may have been kruger seeing grisha's memories as i think before grisha said this to eren before he turns eren he says he must "save mikasa and armin" They soooort of explain the original powers in the manga kinda. there is a brief shot of it in the trailer for s4 but if you don't know about it you'd have no clue. Eren is two titans in one, the founding and attack. zeke has limited control due to his royal bloodline.

Czar

Plus, there is still 1 titan left to be revealed in the final season :)

Ivan Hundric

Eren's, Grisha's and Zeke's titans all have pointy ears.

Ivan Hundric

Eren is the attack titan but he at his dad who ate the Frieda, who had the Founding Titan Powers. So he has the powers of 2 titans, but his main titan is attack titan.

So some foreshadowing I've been keeping in mind, if you want to go and take a look at. Go and watch the first scene of the first episode with this new knowledge. There may be something intriguing there ;)

kamenriderhime

Oh this is so nice to have it all laid out, thank you! I didn't realize Zeke was that young, but yes the resemblance to Grisha is quite noticeable, I actually thought it was Grisha when we first saw him in the "Not Yet" scene haha. Thanks!!

kamenriderhime

Ahhhhh yes!!! Omg, I didn't even think of the comparison between Eren waking up in the first ep and in the most recent ep....but wow! Good point about the "War Chief" nickname, that would definitely indicate that he's been in charge of them for a while. Ohhhhh I did not remember that line of dialogue from Ymir but that makes so much sense! I didn't realize that Uri was supposed to be at his 13 year mark in the scene, I guess I just thought he was ill. Hahaha I figured they wouldn't give me ALL the info here!!! ;) So true about Eren, you can see the weight of it all on him. He's changed so much from the impulsive boy he was when we first met him! This show is amazing! And thank you so much, I'm so happy you liked my reaction!!!!!!!!!!! ^_^

kamenriderhime

Right! That makes sense! Hmm, good to know that the first Titan ability might kinda be explained at some point haha. And interesting about Zeke, that makes sense that he'd have some ability due to his royal blood! Thanks :D

kamenriderhime

You know what, they do!!!!! I hadn't really noticed the ears specifically until now. Just the hair and physique.

kamenriderhime

Right!!!!!!! Thanks for clearing that up! I knew that, it just got a little jumbled up for a second while I was trying to figure out the chain of who ate who. Thank you!

I dont know if anyone said that befor, but the Ymir we know isnt the Goddess Ymir. She was just named after her from these People from the Wall. ^^

Anonymous

Our Ymir was basically just a "normal" Kid pushed into this Role, and later on ate the Friend of Reiner and Bert. (Sorry for my bad english but i still hope you can understand what iam trying to say :D)

Adam Stinnett

Just wait till you see the attack titan's true ability hehehhe. Blew my mind. Grisha did nothing wrong

I can't watch it :( :( Google drive link has exceeded the viewer limit or whatever.. that's a bummer.. was expecting to see this epsiode.. obviously :/

kamenriderhime

Sorry about that! A few folks are getting the playback/bandwidth exceeded error but it's all still working on my end. It usually goes away within a day (it has to do with Google's bandwidth so there's not much I can do about it on my end, unfortunately), but in some cases people have found that logging out of your Google account and/or logging into one if you have one helps!
