Hey everyone!  Here's my reaction and review of season 3, episode 4.   OMG Hitch and Marlo are back!!!!!!!!!!  I'm so glad they made an appearance, and thanks to Jean's little "test", they are now a part of our squad!!!!!!!!  Also, pretty sweet plan that Hange came up with for exposing the cover-up and false accusations about the Reeves guy's murder.  His son really stepped up when he needed to, good for him!  I'm so scared for Smith, and curious as to what he meant by "leaving something" for Pyxis.  Guess we'll find out!  Great ep!  Enjoy!  ~ MH

Awesome reaction! Funny enough, a lot of people complained about this section of the manga/anime because it’s such a change up- specifically the lack of titans- but I like it. The series was missing lore and the inner workings of the world within the wall before this season. The only thing we’d been told was that war had never broken out inside the walls- this helps explain why. Also, a lot of people complain about the English dub for doing it, but the correct pronunciation of Historia’s last name (Reiss) is ‘Rice’ not ‘Race’. It’s Germanic where an ‘e’ and an ‘i’ together are pronounced like that. People always mock and make fun of the English dub for ‘changing’ it but that is genuinely the technically correct pronunciation and one thing the English got right. Can’t wait to see your reaction to the next few episodes. There are some great character moments coming up!

Thank you so much!!!!!! I'm so happy you liked it! Interesting, I actually love the in-depth explanation here of everything going on, even though we have yet to see a Titan battle! Oh very true that the correct German pronunciation is like "Rice"!!!! I've been saying it "Race" because that's how it sounded on the show, did I mishear it? Oops, you'd think I'd know this, I'm part German haha!! I hope you love my reactions to the next episodes!!!! I really enjoyed watching them! Thanks again! ^_^

No you didn’t mishear it- the Japanese got it wrong because they’re not familiar with Germanic pronunciation (they do it with a few other names/words in the series too). That’s why it’s such a big debate amongst the fandom. So although ‘Rice’ is technically correct, it’s fine either way 😊

You didn't really like the torture, well, I "need" to tell you that this episode has been toned down, compare to the manga. When the military police soldier said "Oh you must be so proud to have beaten this rookies", and Conny and Sacha looked at each other unconfortably, well, it is for a good reason. In the manga, to make sure this soldiers couldn't come after them, they didn't just knock them out. They cut their Achilles tendons (or just some legs muscles). A litte more brutal. Just a little... I guess they didn't wan't to show how far they had to go in the anime, they are still the "good guys" after all. They didn't see it, and maybe you didn't too. I know I didn't the first time :p A really good episode, that keep building the tension. And it is nice to have Marlo and Hitch back on the screen. Oh yeah it always bothered me how this was a moral conundrum they needed to get through, as well as an actual issue of how they would not get killed on sight while being at the headquarters of the enemy. But in the anime they just kind of... barge their way through on a cart. Yeah, you can tell the anime didn't try to think it through that much haha. Nonetheless I just think of the anime as a more condensed version, it still has the big character moments

Great reaction!! Its only going to get better from here! Some things I'd like to note. Very soon, I believe, there will be some backstory on Levi and his relationship with Kenny. Which I think should clear up the Ackerman blood relations... while at the same time, leaving us with more questions lol. Oh also, I'm not sure if you noticed it, but the person who killed Historia's mom in the last episode was Kenny. Can't wait for the next reaction! :D

People keep bringing up some scenes are technically "clean" versions of the books. I cannot even imagine how much darker things could get. 😦
