Hey everyone! Here it is - my reaction to season 3 ep 4 of Vox Machina!!! WOW you guys, Pike was a boss in this one! A light as bright as hers can even shine in hell!!! But dang, I get the feeling this experience did leave her a bit more doubting than she was before. Still though, it was awesome to see her turn her opponent's tactics on him!!! What a game!!! It's too bad they're still in trouble though, shoot. I knew it was too easy getting that plate!!! Can't wait to see more! Enjoy! ~ MH

This is such a great episode. Zerxus is a fascinating character that we’ve only met a couple years ago in the campaigns, so hearing them first name drop him was a huge WTF moment. And the way they’ve connected him to Pike and used him to expand on her decisions is a great way to expand her character. And we got a little bit more on the Calamity and some of what happened during that, seeing this floating city drop from the sky under the watch of a similar group to VM. On a lighter note I was dying at the group trying to act like demons, especially Keyleth with the dramatic tongue wiggling and everything 🤣 it’s so in line with how her player would actually act it out. So excited for next week!

As you can see, Hell is a super cheery place. I dunno if putting Grog in a bunny disguise is super effective, but Keyleth biting into a worm is some serious method acting. …I just realized do you think the actual game players think we’re giving their game characters way too much credit with our analysis? XD In the meantime, Pike couldn’t leave well enough alone and tried to help a damned soul. Welp, there go the disguises. It turns out she was being lured by Xerxes the whole time, just for the sake of a card game. These devils and demons must get rather bored on a normal day. The card game reminds me sort of like a reverse Old Maid, but I wonder if the setup was somewhat inspired by the Casino Royale movie’s poker game. Also, you have to listen just as carefully to what’s being said when rules are being given as when they aren’t being said. There was never a rule that said the questions had to specifically focus on the game, so when you went “he’s cheating!” he technically wasn’t. Pike’s a quick study though, and turned the technique right back at him and he realized he could lie to himself as well. Clever play. It makes sense the Everlight isn’t in hell, and every person wonders at some point what it’d be like to go it alone. But there’s a seed of doubt according to Xerxes, and I’m not sure what they were referring to. Just like the monster currently chasing after the party, this can’t be anything good…. Oh yeah and it’s not like the other half of the group is doing any better. This party has a way of getting in the screwiest situations.

Hi Hime :) Oops, I forgot to warn you about the famous scene of Vex opening the door in her birthday suit. From what I understand, this scene is due to the genius of the great Laura Bailey, the actress behind Vex. This is not the only moment like this, you will have another one later where her improvisation makes the story a little spicier. The funny thing is that the first fan and supporter of these moments is Travis Willingham, the actor of Grog, who also happens to be Laura's husband lol. But yes, concerning the story itself, I had seen the blow of the betrayal of our Draconian "friend" coming, who did not deserve to end up devoured by Vorugal... On the more "warm" side of the other group, from what I understand, it doesn't happen like that in the campaign, so even those who know the story are in for a surprise. But at least it gives some really funny passages thanks to Grog, the "dis, is a rock", Scanlan transforming him into a Rabbit, Grog saying that hell must not be so terrible since lots of people told him to go to, Grog enjoying the chairs and saying that he hasn't figured out all the rules yet... We love our big idiot half-giant ^^. Special mention to Keyleth's effort in hell, trying to blend in with the crowd. Also, on another note, Allura becoming unhinged because she worry about Kima made me love her even more. She's always so uptight that when she loose herself and start cursing or other, you know that she will be relenthless. I think with all this years, you start to know me a little and that I love when calm and composed character start to show their anger, just like Ruby or Gon. Generally it's more childs or teenager characters, but an adult woman work well too. Also, and I will probably repeat this later because there will be other passages to say it, but Laura Bailey (Vex) is an incredible actress, she is funny and knows how to be seductive, but when it comes to emotion, she knows very well which string to play to squeeze your heart. Liam O'Brien (Vax) is too, but it's mostly because I could fall asleep listening to his voice every night without any problems, I always have a certain love for beautiful voices and Liam as well as Laura are part of it. Also, they are of course friends irl, but them playing twins is not incongruous either, I saw just this morning a video where Critical Roles was answering questions, Laura (Vex) draws a question asking how tall Percy is, and I give you a bullseye, both Laura and Liam answered in sync "tall enough". When you see this, you start to ask yourself where is the border between Laura/Liam and Vex/Vax lol.

Definitely liked a Pike centered episode. Dang I should have seen that coming. That would have been way too easy. Definitely right about doubt being natural as one progresses. Still it worries me now. I wonder what it means for Pike. Great episode. Let’s hope they get out alive.

Hi Spadeas! :) Haha oh wow, I'll be curious to see the later scene! That's so funny that she's actually married to Grog! The Dis thing was amazing haha! There's a lot of great comic relief here! I know, I love their relationship a lot, it's cool that we're seeing more of it - and good comparison to Ruby and Gon! I love the actors here, they do such a great job! Aww I love that they have kind of a twin connection in real life too!!!

LOL Kiki went full method here! I can see how it's a hellish version of Old Maid. Pike was so clever here!!! I'm not sure about this seed of doubt but it's worrisome for sure. Lol even when split up they all manage to get into the same amount of trouble!

kamenriderhime

Yeah this was a great new character intro! That must've been a huge moment! LOL the demon acting was really something huh!!!
