Hey everyone! Here it is - my reaction to season 3 ep 1 of Vox Machina!!! And we're off to the races!!!! I can def see how they're setting up some side stuff for us to explore throughout the season, maybe even some possible ship stuff....?! But our main mission is gonna apparently be getting this other vestige so that we can, well, kinda team up with a dragon to take down another dragon?! I see why Kiki's not totally down, but that seems to be where we're headed! Can't wait to see more! Enjoy! ~ MH

We’re very lucky that Lance Reddick was able to record Thordak before he passed. We’re already off to a really interesting start, as there are some big changes from the campaign and things happening out of order. The scouting mission/attack on Thordak and learning of the eggs never happened this early (they agreed to Raishan’s deal without seeing any of it), the vestige they’re looking for (Plate of the Dawnmartyr) was the last vestige they went after, and this encounter with Ripley didn’t happen. A lot of it probably for pacing and animation reasons (like how half VM was in the Feyrealm last season, less characters to animate all at once). The “do you spice?” guy was a joke from the campaign, where Scanlan at this point was asking around about drugs, and he thought spice was code for some drug 🤣 I can’t remember if he was asking around saying that or if Matt Mercer eventually gave in and made a random NPC that said it, but it was a thing for a bit lol. Soooo excited for the rest, this season is going to be great!

Regarding the subtitles, maybe the controls are just in a different place? I know for a fact they DO exist, because I saw them as soon as the episode arrived. Regarding the ads on Amazon, this is corporate greed - they started putting ads on their shows a few months ago even for people who are members. Don’t get me started. The tribute was to Lance Reddick, who is voicing Thordak (the lead dragon). The whole thing starts with what, where are we, what did I miss? Get used to this there’s going to be quite a few episodes that throw you for a loop at the very start. There was an interesting line you picked upon but you seemed to forget about it as the episode went on: Thordak says Raishan’s task is the most important. This combined with Keyleth’s trepidation adds some interesting layers. Of course their scouting mission would go haywire, it’s them, it’s why every single one of them had a backup plan for when Vax failed, you knew it was going to go to hell in a hand basket (I’m laughing as I type this. No obvious reason yet.) In fact they should have done this kind of planning on Rebels. Vax and Keyleth’s relationship is complicated, more so with Gilmore constantly flirting with him, but obviously, every time this ship tries to sail the wind blows a different direction. Also Keyleth feels left out because despite her misgivings about Raishan, nobody seems to be taking her seriously. Trinket, however, is investigating another ship. But you know, they’re busy with other stuff. And Scanlan’s trying to track down his daughter. So everyone’s got stuff to deal with. Except Grand Poobah the Mayonnaise. 😂 Anyway, it’s clear from this jungle that they do need the Plate of the Dawnmartyr to battle Thordak, but too bad, because Ripley just made off with it, and hey, Percy’s old friend Orthax is back with her! Would you like to get some more spice? 👀

I'm not sure, I just know that when I clicked "Subtitles" in the settings on the video, the only option was Off, and clicking it didn't turn them back on :P Ohhhh that's who the tribute was for! I wasn't sure what Raishan's task meant, I assumed they're still working for him but sort of a double agent now trying to bring him down? Lol they do seem to have a Rebels-esque way of getting into trouble and having plans go awry :P Not sure where the one ship is going, but Trinket's keeping a close eye on the other!! What a reunion that was with Orthax huh! The spice thing was so out of nowhere, I love it!

I know! I didn't connect the name with the character, that's so sad. Oh that's interesting about the changes they made for the show! OHHHH that's what the spice thing was!! That's hilarious! I'm really excited too!!!
