Hey everyone! Here it is - my reaction to ep 11 of season 2 of Oshi no Ko! STOOOOPPP!!!! There is SO MUCH going on in this one!!! The breakup was sad but also intriguing! I think Akane knew this was a possibility and isn't even totally sure of how she feels (unlike Kana lol). But DANG, I'd love to know exactly what she realized about the dad situation, although I have a feeling it's the timing thing. Also let's not forget the incredible date that Aqua planned for Kana, like dang dude!!! And last but not least....THE GUY AT THE END, NOOOOOOOOOOO!!! I knew it, but seeing it, and knowing that HE KNOWS RUBY, is just such a kick in the head!!!! Can't wait for more! Great ep! Enjoy! ~ MH

Hi Hime :) Kana was extremely cute this episode, being in love and happy really suits her. Also, we are not going to deny her sense of fashion, because she always has the ideal outfit to show herself off, even her "incognito" outfit would have made people turn around when she passed by lol. As for the date, since Himekawa made him realize that, I think Aqua really considered it as a date. He had several with Akane, even if it was more professional, but this is the first with Kana and I think he himself wanted to see if it was possible that there would be more. The fact that he opens up to her by saying that he will give Akane an answer, shows that he is aware that Kana has certain expectations and does not want to make her wait for nothing, but that he needs to think about it and figure things out for himself. Now for the one with Akane, even if he was a little clumsy, he really wants to clear things up, only Akane is not the type to let herself be dumped like that. She is extremely intelligent when it comes to personality, she studied psychology for that, and voluntarily or involuntarily, she has some "manipulative" vibe at times. I had seen an analysis of the balcony scene, when Aqua reveals to her that he wants to kill someone, which shows that we can quickly understand it as a scene where Akane directs Aqua where she wants so that he feels indebted and responsible for her, especially with the fact of agreeing to be his accomplice. And in this episode, when she was about to get dumped, she takes Aqua to the bridge where he saved her, to remind her that it was his "kindness" that charmed her, but we can also see it differently and think that she took him there to bring up his feelings of responsibility with "you saved me, my life is yours now" kind of vibe. There's definitely something less "pure" in the Akane/Aqua relationship than in the Kana/Aqua one for me, but maybe I'm overanalyzing too much ^^'. As for the loophole she's talking about, she doesn't have the date and age info, but I think what she figured out is that a guy who would set up a plan to have Ai killed without getting his hands dirty, couldn't be the same kind of guy to be the victim of a couple's murder suicide. Especially when he said he was a piece of trash. The psychology of the two seems too different to be the same person. Which they are. And speaking of him, I knew he was going to appear soon, that's why I was talking about an emotional roller coaster, because learning that Himekawa is Aqua's half-brother, then that his "father" is dead, then finally the real father arrives, it's a roller coaster. Now, from what we know about him, he had Ai killed and knows her grave and her last name "Hoshino", which is not hard for him to make the connection with Ruby and Aqua, especially since Ai probably had to tell him about it. The fact that he is never tempted to approach them by monitoring their career and has the balls to go and put flowers on Ai's grave... We can easily imagine a manipulative personality with two faces (since he is in the industry too). Which is good, since with his two poor lines of dialogue, I'm 99.99% sure they chose Miyano Mamoru to play this character. He's the VA of Light Yagami (Death Note) and Kuroro "boss" Lucifuru (Hunte x Hunter), two manipulative personalities with multiple faces. But there is also another role that comes to mind with him. Do you remember Skip Beat, the series that takes place in the entertainment industry and of which I shared an excerpt with you. The basic story is that of Kyoko Mogami, who moved to the city to follow her boyfriend and childhood friend Sho Fuwa, who is pursuing a career as a singer and idol. But she will realize that Sho only uses her to take care of the apartment, cook and not spend too much money while he flirts with other girls and even his manager, so yes, an asshole. But charming, manipulative and talented. You guessed it, Sho Fuwa has Miyano Mamoru as a VA too. So between the three roles mentioned, I think he will be perfect to play the multiple facets of Aqua's father, even if I don't know all of the character yet, I at least know Miyano Mamoru's range. Edit : After reading other comments, nevermind my idea for the loophole, it was way simpler than I thought. It's just that, why was it neccesseraly the "father" that cheated on Himekawa's mother, and not the mother that cheated on her husband. We know this is what happened, but like Akane said, Aqua wanted to end his revenge so he didn't even think as that as a possibility.

Hey Mei! The cliffhanger was crazy, right? I literally screamed when I realized it was the end of the episode. I love how Aqua truly does want to move on, & I admire Akane for wondering whether she should reveal anything to him. After all, she had said to him that she wants to shoulder his burden and to have been useful to him. But she also wants him to not go back to living only for revenge. So what would you do in her position? Not to mention that her questioning whether her feelings are romantic are so relatable. A lot of people aren’t sure whether a bond you treasure is romantic or just platonic. Feelings are irrational, after all. Speaking of what she must’ve figured out, I personally don’t know if the loophole is the timing, since Aqua never did specifically say when Himekawa’s mother’s husband died in the double suicide, nor did he mention that Himekawa is the half sibling he found. When I first watched the episode, I thought that Akane realized if there’s half siblings, then it means Aqua’s father & Ai aren’t married, and thus it’s possible that Himekawa Airi wasn’t married to him either. I love how smart she is. Speaking of the blonde hair, technically it’s only a clue for anime watchers. Otherwise it would be obvious for Aqua to only test the DNA of blonde haired males in Japan, rather than spending 5 million yen on DNA tests on about 100 different people. Speaking of, 5 MILLION YEN?! Dear lords Aqua, how many online jobs did you take in order to raise that much funds?!

Now aren’t you glad this wasn’t the end of the season? 😆 By the way your kid is probably telling you that this show just seems to keep adding an extra “kick” to it each week. You should probably stop saying “I can’t believe that was all one episode,” cause it’s just challenging them. Lol! Kana’s not-so-subtle ploy to get Aqua by herself works, but he kind of just treats it matter of fact, and all of a sudden the person with the idea becomes the one freaking out about it. Getting ready for a shopping “date” over two hours ahead? I’m not saying it couldn’t happen, but I think she probably worked herself up way too much. I don’t think the heart in the latte was intentional on Aqua’s part, but given the way he treats her the rest of the night, you can tell he’s got a level of emotional maturity because of his background and it’s completely thrown her off her game, because he’s such a “smooth operator.” By the time she gets in the taxi her mental state is totally gone, and she’s freaking out - then there’s the “disappointment” when she realizes he just took her home, even though it’s perfectly common sense. But she does wonder what Aqua is going to talk to Akane about after she sees a photo of her. Speaking of Akane, I think this is probably one of the better written scenes in the show as it basically does a lot of “let’s cut the BS.” I think Aqua’s comment about the filter is accurate to a point that he’d rather just see Akane as she is, not all doctored up and photoshopped. Their conversation topic about her never taking an in country vacation leads to him inviting her, but it also opens the topic. I think Aqua does have some feelings for Akane because when she brings up the break up option, he’s also hesitating, so he does feel SOMETHING. Unlike Kana, who’s simply infatuated, Akane is actually able to read Aqua and understand his thought process to a degree. I did pick up that they were on the bridge where “that” happened, and wondered if it was significant, and she’s saying, I know a lot of this is mutually beneficial, but deep down you really are a good guy and you’ve already proven it. I think her question to him about sex wasn’t because she’s been watching ecchi (I kid I kid), but what better way to get him to actually stop and think about his feelings for her than to bring up that? He admits he does have a sex drive, but he’s been too wrapped up in his revenge to acknowledge any feelings, but then he turns it on her, and she realizes she doesn’t know what she’s actually feeling for him, either. Neither of them are able to quantify it, but they at least admit it to each other. I suppose in some ways their relationship is kind of like that sort of encounter, they like each other, and are each benefitting from their relationship in ways that make them feel better about themselves. Until Aqua tells her why he’s more free these days, but she put most of that together. I’m not sure exactly what Akane figured out but she said “it’s such a simple loophole,” after running off in a panic. The image showed four people, the dad, two women, and a child, but I don’t quite see what she deducted, but we know she’s one smart cookie. But can she tell him, after seeing how much happier he is now? But if she keeps this from him, she’s denying his purpose and who knows what that does to their relationship. Aqua’s unwittingly put her in a horrible position, on top of her feelings for him. Unfortunately, it seems that the secret may not be in the bag for long because as Ruby leaves the grave of Ai, happy her brother seems happier these days, in comes her father, who knows who she is. You asked before, but remember, Ai already told him about the children, at least on that phone call, so he would know. According to the buzz, his VA is pretty well known too - the biggest thing you’ve reacted to would be Chrollo in Hunter x Hunter, but he’s also Light in Death Note, Rintarou from Stein’s Gate, and he’s got a major role in Bungo Stray Dogs, which has been brought up before. This is not going to be an uneventful vacation is it? The fine kettle of fish keeps getting more full, doesn’t it? 😆 (Hopefully this wasn’t too long!)

The father is honestly one of my favorite characters in the manga. I'm glad he's been introduced now. He's fascinating. Now we go to Ruby focused eps for awhile.

That was a cute date. 😊 It went there with Akane. Some of that dialogue in conversation was just woah 😳 I knew it! Oh, I was so scared. When I saw her reflection in the crow's eyes and then saw him approaching her, I thought he was going to take her out! Oh man, this situation with Aqua got tense before it ever got calm. 😬

Leonie2003

Hello Melissa! What kind of episode was that please? It started off so innocently with Kana and Aqua not dating, which was so sweet and I have really high hopes for Kana that maybe Aqua will eventually choose her because I always liked them better together than Akane and Aqua, even though I actually really like Akane too. I even almost cried when Aqua and Arkane broke off their relationship for good. Because I know what it's like to have heartbreak. And it always makes me sad to see, especially when young girls and boys have to experience it. It was emotional because they did it in the very place where Aqua saved Akane's life. Which made it even more emotional. I think Kana also read too much into Aqua's behavior, but I'm no exception. I always do the same thing with a guy I have a crush on, I read some kind of thought into every detail that ends up being complete nonsense. I don't know why girls like to do that either, because in the end you're only hurting yourself if your own expectations aren't met. But for a moment, they make you happy. I think it's amazing how quickly Akane found out the truth about Aqua's father. I don't think we know the whole story behind it yet, because she definitely knows more than we think. We've already seen in season 1 how well she knows about online personalities or idols. She must have found out some detail about Ruby and Aqua. I think Aqua wants to live a new life without the revenge thoughts and focus on other things like acting or living a normal teenage life. And because of that, he's overlooking some crucial details about why the man he thinks is his father isn't really his father. Personally, I think that Himekawa's mother cheated on the husband who died with Aqua's father and then they committed the suicide together. I don't know how that fits together in context, but that's my theory on the whole thing. I knew immediately that the man at the cemetery was Aqua and Ruby's father, because I happened to see a manga panel of him once and was able to draw the connection between the context of the chapter and the person we saw. I wouldn't have thought that he had such a young voice and that he looked so young. He should actually be in his mid to late 30s. Maybe even early 40s, I don't know. But it looks very similar to Aqua. And that's why I'm 100% sure that's the biological father. But I'm not so sure how to assess him, because he didn't seem particularly malicious to me. But since I'm currently watching another anime in which the main villain also comes across as nice and friendly, I don't trust the whole thing. I'm curious to see how this develops, so I can't wait for the next episode.

kamenriderhime

Wasn't it?! Yeah it really did.....that whole scene was very whoa!!! OMG you were so right! OMG you're so right, he totally could've tried to hurt her, omg! For real, we just knew it wasn't gonna be that simple right....!

kamenriderhime

Hey Leonie!!! OMG I know right?! We hit a lot of tones in this one :P Omg I'm so sorry!!! Hugs!! It's very sad right?! I hate breakups :( I think you're right about Kana lol, but yeah, it's somewhat relatable! I know!!! It's so true, why do we do that to ourselves lol. Right, they didn't tell us exactly what she was thinking but she def figured something out. I think that's exactly what it is - Himekawa's dad wasn't the real dad, and Akane figured that out. I'd even go as far as to say maybe the real dad killed them and it wasn't suicide, but maybe that's reaching! Ohh I'm sorry you got spoiled! That's true, I think I've gotten so used to Aqua suspecting all these older guys that I forgot that someone Ai's age would only be like mid/late 30s now. He does look an awful lot like Aqua!! He really didn't come off as malicious, but he's definitely got a vibe. And so true, that happens in other series as well! I'm curious too!! Guess we'll find out!!!

kamenriderhime

Hey Jenny!! It was!!! OMG!!! I know, Akane really wants him to be ok. Oof, I honestly don't know what I'd do! Probably nothing until I had some proof. That's true, it can be hard to tell sometimes when it comes to emotional connection. I think you're right, she'd have no way of knowing about the timing. It's probably more likely that she realized that the mom was probably the one who cheated. That's true about blondes too!! Hahah omg for real, that is SO expensive right!!!

kamenriderhime

Hi Spadeas! :) You're so right about the Kana scenes, and yes, she's so cute and fashion forward! I can see how Aqua would be in the mindset to at least have a different perspective on his time with Kana, just to see what's there. That's so interesting about the analysis of those Akane/Aqua scenes, I'd actually never even thought of that but I could totally see it! There's sort of a dark undercurrent in Akane/Aqua isn't there. That's actually such a great point too, the same guy who set up a murder wouldn't just be part of a murder/suicide! Others are bringing up the mom cheating too which was kinda the first thing I thought too. Like instantly I said a few eps ago, "no way that's the real dad" lol. Oohhh that's true about their last name too, that'd be an easy way to keep tabs. For real, who puts flowers on the grave of someone they killed?! That's twisted!! OMG I had no idea that was Miyano Mamoru!!!!! WOW, he has such a resume!!! And as it turns out, guess who else he played? Dio in the live action Phantom Blood musical!!!!! I'd highly recommend it if you haven't seen it yet, he was FANTASTIC!!!

kamenriderhime

Haha yes I am! And omg, the baby totally had an opinion here right!? Hahahaha see now I'm reading too much into things with the heart latte :P But yeah, I think she may have psyched herself out a bit, even if Aqua maybe had some intentions of trying to shift things with them a bit to see if there was any potential for something beyond friends. I think you're right about Akane, she wasn't gonna take an answer that wasn't direct. And lol yeah she was probably just trying to get him thinking with that comment. Yeah there's lots of theories on what she deduced, but plain and simple she seems to have figured it out. It's such a tough choice on whether or not to tell him! I do remember Ai telling him on the phone, so he knew they existed and all. It was crazy to finally see him! Apparently this VA has a huge resume which is so awesome! He also played Dio in the live action Phantom Blood musical recently, and wow did he kill it! This vacation is gonna be one big drama I think!!!

Aqua is such a smooth operator because he's a 30-something MD inside and has LOTS of dating experience. Kana feels swept off her feet....plus she's horny and little disappointed he was the perfect gentleman and took her home, hahaha. I picked up on it but they just outright tell you that the pedestrian bridge is the same one where Aqua saved Akane from jumping. Akane's definitely in love with him....it's not just for show for her at least. It's hard because both young women love Aqua and would be happy with him. Akane is more introspective and a student of emotion....she thinks and feels deeply while Kana just lives for the moment, moment to moment. Aqua's been ignoring any romantic feelings of his own towards either of them....he's only now starting to notice. He wants to set Akane free but that's not necessarily what she wants.

kamenriderhime

That makes sense! Haha! That's great that you picked up on it first. They both love him and they both bring different things to the table in terms of why they'd be good for him - it's tough!!
