Hey everyone! Here it is - my reaction to MHA season 7, episode 11!!! I really have no words for this ep :((((( I know we've all been worried for a while, but to actually see him, to actually see the light leave his eyes and his heart stop........!!!! I just can't take it!!! The way he went out was so him - he made an epic last stand and wouldn't be used as bait. And he got to say what he wanted to say to All Might in his heart before he left!!!!! I'm tearing up just writing this! Please tell me this won't stick, please!!!! Great ep! Enjoy! ~ MH

Probably the hardest I’ve seen you cry since the volume 8 finale

crazizzle85

It'll be ok. Just... There's no episode this weekend, so we have to suffer with that end for two weeks. Ugh. Because of the Olympics.

kamenriderhime

I think it may legit be one of the only times I've cried that much!!! There was a reaction a few months ago that got me in a similar way but this level of hurt is rare :(

Spadeas

Hi Hime :) Even though the episode wasn't funny, the funny thing was that I knew exactly how you were going to react throughout the entire episode. I knew that you would scream when Mirio arrived, that you would react when you saw Bakugo's look when he started to get up, that you would worry about Hado with her flashback, that you would start to cry with the discussion between Bakugo and "All Might" and that the floodgates would be completely opened with this last image of Bakugo... I won't tell you if it's reversible or not, just that we're still at the beginning of this arc, that there's still a lot to cover and that anything can happen. Regarding Shigaraki's reaction and what he says when talking about friends, Japanese experts have confirmed that the words used sound childish. So it's definitely Tenko expressing himself, the little boy he was is still present and now that Shigaraki and AfO have merged, it's the only part of "Shigaraki" that somehow remains.

Hey Melissa! If someone had told me a year ago that I would be shedding tears for Bakugou, I would have laughed at them. Because as you probably know, I was never Bakugou's biggest fan. At the beginning, he seemed very odd to me. He was very arrogant and also quite mean to Deku. That's why he was always my hate character. Sometimes he was really funny. But most of the time I was very annoyed by him. With his very irritating and loud unfriendly manner, he sometimes came across as very unlikeable to me. But in the end he was a very young person who had a lot of dreams, tried to protect his family, friends and innocent people and gave his life to defeat the supervillain. And you have to hand it to him for giving everything he had until the last minute to defeat the enemy. The little brief flashback we got where we saw a Bakugo fanboy moment for All Might was really nice and made the whole scene even sadder. The final picture with the autograph card really made me cry. I had already received manga spoilers that this fate awaits Bakugou, but I really didn't expect it to make me so emotional. But I had emotional support because my cat joined me and tried to comfort me. I'm very grateful for that. I hope you had a few cuddle sessions with Buffy after the episode to calm you down. I don't know if I mentioned it, but Tamaki is one of my favorite characters from MHA. And I was really worried that he was going to die. Because I wouldn't have been able to cope with that. The flashback we got with Nejire really worried me too. I also found it interesting to see that a part of Shigaraki hasn't been completely taken over by All for One and that he still remembers a bit of his childhood and that he had friends. I think little moments like that are important for his characterization so that we can still sympathize with him a bit. I don't know if it's really going to come down to Deku being able to save him. On the one hand, I hope so for his sake, but on the other, I don't know if he can or should be allowed to live with so many crimes he's committed. Which is why I'm unsure whether there will be a happy ending for him. I also think he's just far too OP at the moment. An attack like that should have caused him some damage. That's why the fight feels so pointless, because it hasn't achieved anything at all. At least not from the current point of view. Maybe that will change in the next episode. I didn't comment on the new opening and ending last week. Personally, I'm not such a big fan of the new opening because it doesn't create as much hype as the previous one. But I've also heard the last opening a lot in private, so I miss it a lot. It will also fit this arc better now, vocally, than the new one. The visuals are still very good. I actually like the Ed just as much as the last one. The animation there is much better and more emotional. But otherwise I think it's a solid ending.

I know your patrons like to tease sometimes, but I do think maybe they put you a bit too on edge going into this one? You were kinda like looking around at Murphy’s Law, like “what could possibly go wrong next?” The big 3 kind of show how adept they are as their own team, and it was interesting to see how they ended up in the same group - at one point they too were just (pardon the pun) quirky kids with different personalities. It seems from the dialogue it’s fairly well implied that All For One’s main consciousness is now in Shigaraki - but the part that Midoriya sensed earlier is preventing him from going completely psycho - he’s still a big problem. The whole trigger about friends, it seems to have activated the 1% of Shimura that’s still human - and that’s something AFO can’t fathom - much the same as he was surprised when his Quirks rebelled last week. On a side note, Shigaraki’s arm expelling the poison makes this feel a lot more JJKish, doesn’t it? And then of course, there’s Bakugo. He’s always been kind of a brat, and recall how you felt when you first met him, but you kind of started understanding where he was acting after a while. The concept of being bait for Izuku or being told he was just uh… what was it… goldfish poop?…. that probably didn’t sit too well with him. The most telling thing might be when Jeanist comes over to help him and he’s literally crying, not because he’s upset - but he truly is trying that hard. Right before he attacks he says “I have to win, right Deku?” Somehow he ended up chasing the one who had been chasing him. As far as the outcome, I’m not sure he did that quote intentionally or not, but the narrator did say there was a side effect that he wasn’t aware of - so is it possible his heart exploded? On a side note, the anime site I follow decided to post the last shot of this episode next to Nanami from JJK on a beach. That was just rude. Can Eri do something? It’s a good question, but I don’t know how much time you need to do something like that - I’m also a little concerned that Izuku may go off the deep end when he finds out… and another question… despite all that… did that… DO anything? Well, like usual, I guess we gotta sit on this and speculate longer since the Olympics take over their time slot next week. Plus Ultra, Yare Yare….

Hi Spadeas! :) OMG, you totally called it with all my reactions! They built up other possible deaths so much, I feel like they were totally trying to fake us out! That last image haunts me! Dang, I can't wait to see what's gonna happen, even if I do feel broken. Oh that's interesting about the dialogue! So that really is Tenko. Interesting!!!

kamenriderhime

Hey Leonie! Aww I hear you, I didn't like him at first either, but wow, was this emotional! I totally get your reasoning, and he was definitely an angry/abrasive boi lol, but I couldn't agree more about everything else he represented. He was bright, passionate, and really cared for the people he loved. The little fanboy moment was SO sad, especially since he was so calm and actually speaking in not Bakugo-speak during that moment lol. Awww I'm so glad your kitty was there for you! Buffy def got lots of snuggles after this! Oh I LOVE Tamaki!!! He's always reminded me of Mr. Hime (or more specifically, what I picture him being like as a teen). I was so worried about all the Big Three!!! Can you believe the nerve of rolling a flashback like that?! As Jojo fans, we're programmed to have our hearts sink when that happens! :P It is interesting that there's stil some of Tenko in there. I really hope Izuku can save him! But I'm really not sure either! It is awfully sad that we've barely dealt any damage in this fight...I guess the best thing we've gotten from it is the discovery that the little child-self is still in there for Shigaraki. Oh thank you for sharing your thoughts on the op and ed!! I hear you about the op, it definitely helps to "get to know" a song better by playing the full version on your own time too! I'm glad you like the ed though!!!

kamenriderhime

You were one of the ones who warned me about all the buzz with this ep, so maybe I'm the wrong person to ask :P To be fair though, the whole episode was one big red herring for the ultimate death scene, this show knew exactly what it was doing! I loved watching the Big Three in action! Right, they've pretty much merged except for that one childlike aspect. I love that there's still a tiny part of him that responded to the word "friend", similar to the quirks rebelling like you said. Hahaha there were definitely some JJK vibes!! I know, Bakugo grew on me so much!! LOL the goldfish poop line! The scene of him crying was so intense. That's the thing, I'm thinking that move was just too much for his heart. Ugh, what a blow to the feels that anime site did, dang! That's the thing, like Eri isn't even there, we don't even know if she can undo death, and Izuku is totally gonna lose it over this. And yeah, I think maybe the point was just so Bakugo couldn't be held hostage against Izuku, other than that, it didn't really deal any damage. Yare yare indeed, now I have to stew in this for two weeks!!

NarumiYutani

You wouldn't believe how long the torture was in the manga to find out Bakugo's fate, we were all collectively dying 😅😭😂

NarumiYutani

Ohh, there is SOOO much (pain) yet to come 🙃🙃 But as Ron Weasley once wisely foretold "You're gonna suffer, but you're gonna be happy about it" 😂😂😂 I'm currently dying because now there are only TWO more chapters to come out and I can't believe it's gonna be over soon 😭😭😭😭😭😭

kamenriderhime

Yikes! I'm scared!!! But also excited! WHOA!!! That's wild, enjoy the last two chapters! It's weird to think it's gonna be over soon, at least manga-wise!!

Cody

The guy holding up concrete in the OP looks like Death Arms, the first hero we met and who retired after the battle last season. We got hints at it before, but now we finally see that there’s still a bit of Tenko Shimura deep within Shigaraki somewhere. Through all the imagery we’ve seen with him and Deku, it does seem like there is still this scared little kid somewhere in his head. I was so worried for the Big 3 this episode but man, Tamaki popped off! That move was so crazy! And the animation this whole episode was insane! But I think it’s cause I was so worried about the 3 that I didn’t think much about Bakugo, especially after the scare last season. And he went out doing the same thing we always see Deku do: analyzing his enemy, breaking his body and pushing it to its limits, and throwing himself into danger to protect everyone else. And that EFFING trading card falling to the ground! 😭 At least we got to hear a version of You Say Run again before it happened (it doesn’t help 😭) I’m so worried about Deku. Like Shigaraki said, if Deku reacted that rage-fully at Bakugo getting stabbed, how badly will he react when he sees what happened? I’m saying it every week at this point but I’m so worried about the next episode.

kamenriderhime

Oh good call! I know, he's still in there somewhere. I was so worried as well! Tamaki was amazing! That's the thing, it made more sense to me that they'd do something to one of the Big Three, Bakugo wasn't on my radar as much either. That's so true that he was doing what Izuku would do! AHHHH not the card! Omg the music totally did not help haha. I know, I really really hope Izuku doesn't find him this way!!!

Supermonaman

I felt like I needed to leave a comment about what happened to Bakugo in episode 11. It’s rough to watch Shigaraki doing whatever he can to break Bakugo’s spirit while holding him hostage even going so far as to tell him that he will never get close to One For All. Him saying be realistic is interesting when Izuku was told the very same all the way back in the 1st episode of the entire show in fact. I love the reality check moment Best Jeanist has when he sees Bakugo crying right after saying they still need him to fight realizing this is still just a kid telling him everyone else will handle it it’s a good representation of how heartwarming J’s relationship with Bakugo is. I love the moment of him continuing to strategize even with how what just happened hurt him because even if he can’t match Shigaraki physically he damn well will match or surpass him mentally. It’s scary but really badass to see him so focused or locked in as others I watch have said & Best J’s reaction makes sense because it is kind of monstrous in terms of determination. The imagery of Bakugo crying while the sparks of his sweat are falling down is possibly 1 of the best bits of imagery in the entire show especially because of the way his eye is animated/drawn. And obviously part of him feels like he is not strong enough which hurts but the stronger part of himself that is inspired by Izuku will never give up. As soon as you see Bakugo standing there after nothing seems to be working against Shiggy saying take care of the others a bad feeling starts & just doesn’t stop. I love how in this part he is just constantly thinking of Izuku even with his tear stained face even with the pain talking to him in his mind. And the I have to win thing goes back to season 2 where Izuku told him he’s not himself if he stops trying to win/decides to “lose”. It’s insane to see Bakugo go so fast that Shigaraki literally can’t perceive him at 1st & this evolution of a quirk is probably my favorite one with his nitroglycerin coming out of everywhere. Although if he had not been predicting this villain’s moves I don’t think he could have kept up. The animators were really going off with the way his mask burns off, explosions around him as his eye looks similar to Deku going full OFA mode. The voice acting is so good with how emotional him saying Izuku & how it’s not about being the best it’s just him wanting to be as good as his friend who he now admires & is inspired by. It’s such beautiful writing that he is going through the same pain & planning as his best friend maybe thinking of how hard he has worked & how hard Izuku’s life and responsibility was & has been. I love this metaphorical/symbolic moment Bakugo has with the idea of All Might in his head because his entire angry/abrasive front is gone & he is just talking softly and being fully honest & is just the little kid who is a fan of AM and always wanted his autograph on his trading card. I personally think this is fully metaphorical but this might be a nod to the 2nd MHA movie where Bakugo gets OFA & then loses it and I think his memory & since nothing contradicts the movie it could be literal since once you have OFA a part of it is always with you even once it’s gone. It’s satisfying that this is making Shigaraki panic & reminding the AFO part of this new personality of the 2nd One For All user the mangaka most likely making a parallel between user 2 & our explosive boy in terms of personality to never give up even in the face of hopelessness & overwhelming power. I love that everyone else came to protect him when they realized he was going to be hit it wasn’t even about attacking the enemy it was just about saving Bakugo. It’s a little hard to tell what happened in that instant because it’s chaotic but I think it’s great that each character was doing something different/small bits of animation. Basically what happened is that Shigaraki punched a hole in Bakugo’s heart & really messed up his entire chest & it had to be told to people with a note in the manga but apparently his nitroglycerin sweat was building up in his heart as well & when the punch happened it caused a small explosion inside of Bakugo causing additional internal damage which is 1 of the more fatal things I have seen in anime. I think all the reactions we see are painful but I think the reaction that hurts the most is Aizawa’s knowing how much he cares about his students as well as his unshakable in Bakugo when reporters & the villains themselves thought he could be a villain when he was kidnapped in season 3 especially because Aizawa can only sit & watch with how Monama has to be touching him to constantly use Erasure he must feel so helpless. It was so mean of the show to then show his mom worrying about him. And of course it would start to rain when things are at their darkest even the title is basically about his light fading as the rain starts. The last image of Bakugo is haunting & dark as hell especially with the card crushed & bloody right next to him. It’s already sad that he was carrying the card with him & I’m sorry to make it worse but as soon as I saw this comment I remembered that whenever he has been upset or nervous he has put his hand in his pocket which means throughout the entire show he has always had that card with him using it to calm himself down & give himself strength which is the most wholesome but heartbreaking thing. Also I saw someone wondering if the trading card thing was a reference to the Phil Colson thing in the 1st Avengers movie & since the author is an obvious fan of superhero stuff it’s a possibility. It can be hard to admit because of how upsetting this development is but it takes balls to kill a character like Bakugo as a creator it’s very bold & impressive to write such a great death even if it could be fixed which I very much doubt. Finally it might just be a fan name but I think the name of the music playing while he was fighting is the spirit to succeed which is a combination of Bakugo’s main theme, the main hype/action music of MHA “you say run” which plays when heroes are being well heroic & Endeavor’s theme “just another hero” & it’s an amazing piece of music. I wanted to talk about the music because if you look at the version of just another hero with lyrics which was only used once when the theme was 1st used & if you look at the lyrics they of course fits Endeavor but fits Bakugo really well at the same time. It’s really cool so if you get the chance you could check out the lyrics to just another hero. So, yeah this episode wrecked me emotionally though thankfully not as much as you but I was still a mess. Sorry for the long comment but I had to for 1 of my favorite characters. I really appreciate how genuine & raw your emotional reactions are & I love to see your love for Bakugo I feel like some people just don’t get his character so I always love seeing people love his character especially when he is 1 of my favorite characters Your reaction was great even though my though I felt bad for you going through a painful experience. Keep up the great work. :-) <3
