Koikatsu UI Template (Patreon)

This is a set of tools for creating your own Koikatsu themed images. The KK_ADV_UI.xcf file is a GIMP file which contains parts of the Koikatsu ADV UI, each in different layers and layer groups. You can easily toggle on and off any elements of the UI and insert your own characters, backgrounds, and screenshots. KK_H_UI.xcf is similar except it contains elements of the H scene UI.

To write Koikatsu style text in your ADV scene text boxes you can use the included SetoFont.ttf which is the font that Koikatsu uses. Getting the text to appear with a background requires a bit of image editing. First, write your text in to the text boxes. Then, in GIMP right click the text layer, select Text to Path. Select the text shadow layer, delete the contents, then click Select->From Path, then Select->Grow 1px. Use the paint bucket to fill the selection.

This creates an outline around the text, but it isn't exactly like the Koikatsu text. You can furthur improve it by doing this: Ctrl+A to select the entire contents of the layer, create a new image, and paste it in. Next, resize your image by 200%. Then select the text and move it right in pixel and down one pixel. Resize it back down by 50%, switch back to the template, delete the contents of the layer, and paste. This essentially moves the outline over and down a half pixel, creating a nice shadow effect.

To match the Koikatsu font colors, for girl text use RGB color 255,204,255, for boy text use RGB 204,255,255.
