Hello everyone and welcome to a new sneak peek of Lucky Paradox <3

Lately I have decided to do these progress report posts, as some of you have already noticed, once every two weeks. I think it's a more efficient way of reporting progress instead of doing it on a weekly basis, I think it doesn’t count as spam that way xD

Do you agree with this, or should I go back to the weekly format?

It's a bit difficult to give a weekly report on the progress of the game writing, because with no images to show and wanting to avoid some spoilers, I must show everything in a general way so as not to ruin the surprises hahaha

During these weeks I've been working on the script of the new update, this time it has been a monumental work, I think more than any story content so far, especially considering the content I still must add to the Argleton museum.

During the first months of development of Lucky Paradox (Lot of time ago), I started writing the story in broad strokes with a huge number of details, dates, characters and important events that were happening during the story, almost as if it was a map or the skeleton of what would be everything later. I did not like the idea of creating the story as the development progressed, but I wanted to have surprises and interesting plot twists prepared in advance throughout the development.

However, I have been making a lot of changes as the development of Lucky Paradox progressed, as I wanted to give much more focus on the characters and their interactions, and less on what was the world building and background, so far in the game, you have only seen a small tip of the iceberg of what the real story of Argleton is. There are many things that so far may seem like filler or that do not make much sense, and it is a feeling that goes along with the lack of main story I'm talking about. In addition to the "encyclopedia" style format in which the game is developed and written, where you must connect many dots to discover details and discover the background himself.

On the other hand, I wanted the Museum and the story of Liz and Sarah (which will be included in a future version), would serve to discover all that background or at least most of them,  as optional content.

So, to remember what I had written, I decided to gather and re-read all those notebooks with notes and notes that I had made at the beginning of the development and... Oh Boy... I didn't remember it was so much... I don't know what my past self was thinking about xD

I've been for several days sorting through all that information, establishing chronology of all the events that were happening or remembering a lot of details that I had overlooked, as it hadn't been necessary until now. However, I've had to do a lot of this by hand, pencil and paper like in the old days hahaha

Hard work, but fun all the same time

And that added to a bit of bad luck during these weeks...

This last week I suffered some problems on the computer I work on, every time I tried to save a document, I got an error saying "Error writing to disk". After a lot of research, thinking that it was a write protection issue, I realized that my hard disk had simply reached the end of its useful life.

If I must be honest, it's not something that worries me, since a few months ago when I suffered a data corruption, I backed up everything necessary for the development of the game. The code is safe in github and everything else in the cloud, so now I must wait for a new hard drive to arrive and copy all that again to resume development. Since right now, I can only work on the game script and code on my old laptop.

I hope to have some preview images soon to show some new features of the museum I've been working on, although due to technical problems it hasn't been possible to finish all the final design for this new feature. So for now it's mostly a sketch of what it will be in the end, I still have to fix and finish designing more things.

My intention is to add a new mechanic of discovering and research objects, collecting new items through Liz's side story or by finding things scattered around the world, and being able to know more details based on our level of knowledge.

Adding this as a secondary activity to do during the mornings (which is possibly the instant of time with the least amount of things to do in the game right now). I think it will be a great addition to show all that background that still remains to be discovered and being optional, it is not mandatory so if you are not so interested in the background of the game, you can simply continue playing the content of the characters that you like the most, as always.

And I think that's it for the last few weeks.

Before I say goodbye, I would like to know:

Do you like better the weekly report format, or continue in this new format of reports every two weeks?

It would be very helpful if you give me your personal opinion, because, though the weekly format requires more time, I am willing to go back to the previous format if the majority agrees.

As always, I send you a big hug from afar and wish you a beautiful and fruitful week.

And see you soon with more news <3

Biweekly seems fine to me.

Yes, I am good with the biweekly, and even a little longer on occasion. I am definitely interested in the world building aspect, as it feels like there is a lot of story there. So, please promise that if you ever get tired of the game, you'll at least post your story notes on it.

I hope so. Seen too many games have updates that just stop coming... Don't burnout...

I’d say biweekly, Stawer. I wouldn’t want to be creating a weekly report for fans if there were only small changes. When it comes to the new mechanic in mind, I think it’s a thoughtful idea, but you may want to be simplistic towards the background of the game. You may have fans that are more interested towards the MC’s and the girls’ dynamic they share towards each other, but making the background of the game more optional sounds like a compromise between two parts of your audience. Regardless, if you do have concepts that need to be sketched out, and that need certain intricacies, take your time. Always take your time, and always be prepared. It’s great to see a game developer who prepares for the worst (including you with your disk and data corruption!) and certainly someone who lets their patrons know how things happened. With that being said, if there are any setbacks, don’t be afraid to take the time to take a step back and to repair things so that you can enjoy yourself, and to create a game that perhaps even 18+ game developers may admire. If you want to share something even remotely simple, share it with us! I’m sure someone would like to see the blueprinting behind the game as well. ;)

I agree with biweekly reports. However, I would like to propose the following agenda because I think some people will be disappointed with your plan. Why don't you upload writing reports like today for one week and upload picture contents (various things including nsfw) for the other week? Of course, your intention is the most important thing, so I simply make a proposal and I can happily accept it even if you reject it. No matter what decision you make, I will remain your steady supporter. :)

Bi weekly is fine stawer i know a few devlopers that do bi weekly or even monthly that way they can keep working on the stuff instead of sending out weekly since it takes u away from developers time

TheBigKebowski

I don't think that weekly reports are necessary. Better to focus on the work itself.

TheAmazingRando

I'm fine with a bi-weekly update. I don't need to know what you've been up to every week

<p style="color: #008600;">Updating twice a month seems to me to be enough. Glad for the progress you've made</p>

TheBigKebowski

I'd even be OK with monthly reports... LOL. I much prefer that people focus on what they want to do (i.e., create content) than constantly justify their existence with endless reports. (There is a certain creator - who will remain nameless - who would post multiple times a day. I finally dropped him, because I got so sick of it, and the game wasn't good enough to put up with that. Your game is much better! ;-)

Well, yes, the development of a game sometimes brings a lot of surprises, like in your case with a hard drive, but I'm glad that you protected yourself and made a copy of everything you need.
