Shattered Valley (Patreon)

Some kind of powerful arcane magic shattered this valley long ago, leaving a deep scar that divides the earth to this day, the strange rock formations and the blue coloration in the air left by the spell are faint memories of this mysterious past.

Hello everyone! for the 2nd map of this month I made this kind of weird colored magic valley. Recently I've been mostly making generic terrain maps and some of the variations usually tell some kind of story, so making a more specific map as a whole again was fun, and I hope it inspires you to create your own story for it!

In the end this map turned out pretty different than what I initially imagined for it, which was sort of an explosion in the center and various shattered runestones around it, as you can see some of this original idea remains, but when I started making this sort of ravine/scar thing I ended up really liking it. And I guess it could also be used as an entrance to the Underdark too, which also led me to make the variation themed around.
