Zac scratched his head with frustration while glaring at the treasure houses locked behind impenetrable barriers. Thankfully, it wasn't like he was completely out of options. The safest was to wait for his toad companion to reach Zecia. Esmeralda would only be somewhere around his level when she arrived, but she was the incarnation of an A-grade thief. If anyone could find a weakness and sneak inside, it was her.

The problem was, he had no idea when she'd arrive. Esmeralda was planning on entering the trial inside by hitching a ride, so she had no intention of collecting seals. By the sound of it, she planned on arriving at the last moment, meaning the Ensolus Ruins would remain locked away for years. Could he really wait that long? He had one more solution, though, one that could be enacted within a month or two. He'd have to put aside the time to have that drink with Average after he'd returned.

Zac took one last look at the majestic temples before entering the perpetual storm surrounding the Ensolus Ruins. Fierce gales lashed at him as he made his way through, to the point Zac opted to take out[Love's Bond] and use the chains to latch onto the ground. The winds had grown significantly stronger since the transformation, a change Zac welcomed.

Before, essentially anyone could pass through and enter the ruins. Now, you at least needed the cultivation of Peak E-grade or ample preparations to safely pass through. By the time the ambient energy stopped increasing, it might rebuff everyone beneath Hegemony. Perhaps they could make the storm even stronger to create a natural barrier protecting their secrets.

Zac emerged from the other side soon after, finding the group of Valkyries waiting for him.

"My lord," a Tamira bowed.

Zac nodded with a smile, though he couldn't help but feel a pang in his heart upon seeing the unfamiliar faces behind her. Tamira was one of the twelve original Valkyries remaining. Of the remaining sixty-eight, half had passed away. Most fell in combat during the integration and the war, while a few fell during off-world training in the interim. The rest had chosen to give up their identity, though it rarely was willingly.

Ultimately, only nine of the original Valkyries were cultivators, and the options for real mortals couldn't be compared to Zac's. Most of the original Valkyries found themselves increasingly unable to keep up with the Valkyries' cultivation despite enjoying the best resources in the Atwood Empire. Ultimately, materials can only take you so far when talent is lacking.

Rather than becoming a weakness during critical missions, they opted to enter the Atwood Army as normal soldiers. This was the ending for most mortals who'd stood out during the integration. Another regrettable example was Ling Tian, the heroic warrior who'd continuously risked his life fighting the Undead Incursion.

Despite Zac providing him with a steady stream of resources, he was still stuck in the earlier stages of Middle E-grade. Reportedly, Ling Tian spent most of his time in a sickbed after forcing open nodes, just like the Mortal Monarch whose biography Zac got from Thea.

Zac's progress through E-grade had felt arduous, but it was worth remembering mortals generally needed centuries to reach Peak E-grade. Of course, only a vanishingly small portion even got that far. Forcing open nodes during late E-grade, especially, was like playing Russian Roulette. And even should you reach the end, your Daos would be hopelessly behind even the worst of cultivators unless you encountered a series of lucky opportunities.

The Multiverse simply wasn't equal, even if the System had somewhat bridged the gap between mortals and cultivators.

"How's the situation here?" Zac asked.

"Roughly half an hour ago, we felt extremely powerful spatial fluctuations, along with another force. It's hard to explain. It reminds me of the Church of the Everlasting Dao but far grander," Tamira frowned. "We have reports it was noticed all the way in Silverwood Crest. The storm has grown fiercer, too, and it seems to be absorbing energy."

Zac inwardly grimaced. The Silverwoods were halfway across the continent, meaning millions had noticed the transformation.

"It's under control. For now, seal the ruins. Let no one but the most trusted enter," Zac said.

"We'll handle it," Tamira said. "Do you need us to accompany you back to Earth?"

"No, I have a mission for your team," Zac said. "Have someone fetch our strongest camouflage arrays. As soon as security has been tightened, try to hide the new buildings inside the ruins."

Tamira's brows rose. "New buildings? Which district?"

"You won't be able to miss them," Zac said helplessly. "Be careful. Their shields are fully operational. Keep a wide berth and immediately retreat if you notice anything odd. And if the big thing in the middle is too big to obscure, surround it with Mist Arrays or something."

"We'll be careful," Tamira assured, her eyes gleaming with curiosity.

Zac's entered his cultivation cave twenty minutes later with a frown on his face. He'd spent the last minutes talking with his contacts from various forces, sending out feelers about Vilari while thanking them for him up with the Endemire Sage and Everfast Monarch. Unfortunately, no one had answers or ideas, and could only promise they'd keep their ears to the ground.

How was he even supposed to look for Vilari? The bell seemed able to come and go as it pleased. Worse, such a powerful treasure would attract the attention of Monarchs from both camps. He'd seen how eager the Everfast Monarch was after learning of its power. After all, even Hegemons were helpless before its influence. Despite his contributions, the Alliance would be more interested in controlling the weapon than saving its passenger.

The only clue he had to go on was his conversation with Vilari before they separated. She'd believed the bell was related to the Crown of Despair inheritance, or rather the Mentalist who set it up. Should he force his way into the trial to speak with Vilari's master? Or was that sending himself to an early grave? Ralz Calzood was still alive, and she might be the reason why Vilari was taken.

Even if only a wisp of her soul was left with Brazla, it belonged to a Peak C-grade Mentalist. Zac knew his odds of survival were almost nil if Ralz wanted to kill him inside her realm.

It might be possible to talk with her without entering her inheritance realm. He'd discuss it with Brazla, but he could only put out one fire at a time. Zac cleared his head as he took out the emblem he kept stored in a sealed part of his Cultivation Cave. Looking at it now, Zac saw some similarities between it and the Sindris token he left in the tower.

The situation aboard the ancient vessel had stabilized, but the Sindris Clan was clearly operating in the area. They could pop up at any moment, and Zac frankly wasn't confident the Everfast Monarch could protect them. Technocrats weren't playing by the System's rules. They may have snuck Autarchs into Zecia, for all he knew.

It was about time he had another talk with his mother.

Zac infused his will into the token. Nothing happened, except his spirituality being expelled. Zac snorted with annoyance. It almost felt like Leandra had screened his call, but he wouldn't give up just because of that. He kept infusing his will with increasing determination until there finally was a change.

"How disappointing. Only a few months have passed, yet you've already reached a dead end?"

Leandra's projection looked the same as before, her eyes blank and emotionless as she looked at Zac up and down. Zac couldn't glean anything about Kenzie's situation from her appearance, though he could tell Leandra was real rather than an AI.

"That's not it," Zac said.

"Have you called me just to flaunt your evolved bloodline?" Leandra said with a shake of her head. "There is a great cost to connecting across such vast distances, not to mention the dangers of exposure."

"Can you let me talk? Do you think I'd contact you if I didn't have to? If anything, my problem is probably of your making," Zac growled as he produced a replica Sindris sigil he'd carved while taking with his contacts. "These people have popped up in the Zecia sector and seem interested in me. I need answers."

Leandra said nothing for a while as her projection stared at the token. A small furrow had appeared on her face. She was worried, but Zac held no illusions her fears were for his safety. An unwelcome and seemingly unexpected variable had appeared, which threatened her undertaking.

"Have they discovered you?"

"Yes, they got a front-row seat to my breakthrough."

"Careless. The eyes of the world are on your sector right now," Leandra said. "You should have understood your origin isn't simple. One wrong step will lead to disaster. Remember your mission. Your sister will be struck down by the System if you die or get captured."

"You don't need to remind me," Zac said. "And it's not like I had any option. The situation here is out of control. I did what I had to do to survive. I need you to tell me who these people are and whether they're friends or foes."

"Friend or foe…" Leandra slowly said. "It's impossible to say. I doubt even they know."

"At least you're not making it as cryptic as possible," Zac said with a roll of his eyes.

"Fate's hold…" Leandra muttered as her gaze grew distant. The silence stretched for twenty seconds until she sighed. "Remaining ignorant and free from influence in these times might do more harm than good. It's time you understood your origins."

Zac's heart shuddered. He'd been prepared to threaten Leandra with his assignment if she didn't come clean. Now, that seemed unnecessary. He didn't say or show anything on his face, afraid of doing something that could change her mind. He silently waited while Leandra arranged her thoughts.

"I'm sure you've pieced some things together already. You're my son, but you're also not. You carry the biological inheritance of the Kayar-Elu, but that's less than a third of your genetic makeup. It's mostly a mix of two lineages, one of which is the owners of that token. The Fallen. The Sindris Clan.

"Humanity and The Technocracy share a common origin; an ancient empire called the Selvari. We fought against the Limitless Empire, desperately trying to thwart their mad ambitions. The Kayar-Elu is a prime lineage of the Selvari, as were the Sindris Clan."

'The Fallen? They "were" a prime lineage?'

Leandra kept talking about the Sindris Clan in the past tense despite them being alive and well. Zac had a dozen questions at the tip of his lip, but he kept his mouth shut as Leandra continued.

"The Selvari fought long and hard, resisting the Limitless Empire for millions of years. Countless sons and daughters laid down their lives to protect our homelands while our researchers worked themselves to the bone in attempts to build stronger defenses against the onslaught. And yet, we were losing.

"During the height of the war, a grievously wounded man appeared before the Technocracy Council. Despite his state, he emitted a terrifying aura that eclipsed even our forefathers. They had never seen anything like it. Except for one person. The Limitless Emperor. It seemed impossible, but the man actually stood before the council and introduced himself as such.

"The council was ready to lay down their lives to strike down their enemy, even if it meant tearing apart the fabric of reality. However, the Emperor said he came in peace. He claimed he wasn't the one who'd ruled over the Empire for the past eons. A man named Laondio Evrodok had usurped the throne and banished the original Emperor's identity from the rivers of time and fate."

Raging waves coursed through Zac's heart from having multiple answers were answered at once. He had to force down his racing thoughts to not miss anything as Leandra pressed on.

"The ancestors wouldn't believe such a fanciful story at face value, but some of his words were quickly proven. His identity was truly taboo, impossible to remember or store. To this day, we don't know his name."

"After much deliberation, the forefathers let the deposed Emperor stay with the Selvari. The Sindris Clan was chosen to guard him. Eventually, he gained the epithet 'Void Emperor,' being the Emperor of nothing. It was also impossible to give him an actual name since it, too, would be erased.

"The Void Emperor joining our ranks was the beginning of the end. At first, everything went well. His power was undeniable, and the intelligence he provided led to significant victories that gave the Selvari the breathing room needed to finalize life-saving projects. The deposed Emperor was also the one who first exposed Laondio's plans for building the System.

"After confirming it was true, the ancestors knew they faced an existential threat that couldn't be avoided or ignored. They had to risk everything for the sake of the universe. They also built great arks to protect the common populace and keep the flame of hope alive in case something went wrong.

"The ancestors were running out of time, but a plan was finally drawn up. The Selvari ancestors, the direct inheritors of the Technocrat Codex, were ready to sacrifice themselves to stop the Emperor's experiment. The Void Emperor led them to the depths of his old Empire, using secret backdoors he'd left for himself. Everything was proceeding according to plan.

"Then, disaster struck. At a critical juncture, the Void Emperor betrayed us. It led to the demise of most forefathers, including the Matriarch of the Kayar-Elu," Leandra said, her frosty expression veritably oozing with hatred. "The System was born soon after; you should know the rest by now. Our only solace is that the founders didn't go down without a fight. The usurper was grievously wounded. Neither he nor the Void Emperor were seen after that cataclysmic battle over the Era's direction.

"Most likely, they became fuel for the System's awakening, like the rest of the Empire's upper echelon. After all, we can see that the Void Emperor's unique constitution has become an integral part of the System's growth algorithm."

A pent-up breath escaped Zac's lips. The exact details of that ancient past might have been lost, but what Leandra said lined up with Karz's observations during his latest bloodline vision. Reality already bent to Laondio's will when they were Hegemons. He might really have been able to banish an identity when he reached the peak of his power.

And it wasn't like Zac never considered Leandra's explanation of Karz's final end. At first, Zac thought Karz was the Limitless Emperor because of his bloodline. That theory had taken a serious hit when the Void Priestess said his name was Laondio Evrodok. Since then, he'd brainstormed various answers, one being the one Leandra now presented.

The Kayar-Elu didn't want Karz's bloodline to use the Limitless Emperor's authority as a backdoor. They wanted the Void Emperor bloodline because it was the bloodline of the System itself. It simply made sense. Zac remembered the desire the System exhibited any time he offered a Glimpse of Chaos. Wasn't it the same as the endless hunger of Karz's bloodline?

"The Selvari almost collapsed with the System's birth," Leandra continued. "We had just lost our greatest minds and leaders, and the providence of the Heavens was being robbed. The only option left was to hide in the seams of reality, waiting for a day when we could return. The Void Emperor became the greatest sinner, and the Sindris Family got a share of the blame."

Zac was about to ask why, but Leandra raised her hand to let her finish.

"The Sindris Clan was chosen for two reasons. For one, they were one of the three strongest clans of the Selvari, and their homeworld was our strongest fortress. Secondly, they inherited a technology that rendered them almost unkillable. If the Void Emperor suddenly launched an attack, they'd survive long enough to call for help.

"The Sindris Founder was one of only three founders to survive, and his state was much better than the others. One died during the dark ages, and the other burned her soul to help erect Sanctuary."

"Speculation of betrayal soon flourished as we toiled in the darkness. It wasn't just blind scapegoating. The Void Emperor stayed with the Sindris Family for five hundred thousand years before everything went wrong, even marrying one of the Sindris Patriarch's daughters."

"Wait—" Zac said, his eyes widening with realization.

"Yes, your biological father is from the Sindris Clan and a direct descendant of the Void Emperor."

Tftc. barely started but are the ensolus ruins radioactive like chernobyl after the melt down? Will Zac pop a ruins security only to find some gigantic elephant foot slime monster?

Great Chapter…the curtain begins to retract…

Random Information

Well that clears everything up. The Sindris Clan are allies or maybe enemies. The Void Emperor was an ally of the Technocrats or maybe an enemy. Zac is sought after because something something Void Emperor something System.

Indy

holy shit

Randragon

How can Zac remember Karz name if " It was also impossible to give him an actual name since it, too, would be erased" ? Is this because Zac cant be strapped with Karma? or maybe its because the system cant mess with someone's bloodline visions?

Indy

XD, as I said before, we never get straight answers only more unsure shit. It gets jaring after a while, you can only work so long with half trues and hints..

Stefan Muntean

Ok...now pore Zac will have daddy issues 😂

Indy

well, the the guy is dead and any power he used to erase something so important will have run out without him living and supporting it

Mike

Early chapter and an absolutely mental lineage reveal?? I must be dreaming

Indy

@Stefan, its fun for a while, but image Frodo wouldnt know about the origins of the Ring after the 10th book...

Holy mother of lore drops.

Zac, I am your father :)))))

1) Well that's a damn shame about the Valkyries that gave up their position because of their limitations as a mortal. But that shows the level of respect they have for Zac and the group as a whole. Where they'd rather give up their benefits and position then put the Atwood Empire at risk due to their slow growth. 2) Finally we got an update on Ling Tian. After that healer girl getting brought back up I was wondering what happened to this dude. Especially after the work he put in fighting the undead Empire. 3) Damn there will always be constants in the universe. Death is unavoidable, everyone hates taxes and Leandra will take every opportunity to be a dismissive cunt to Zac. Still waiting on confirmation that her dna was used in Zac's birth and she doesn't just call him her son because she raised him after the system attacked. 4) Lots of lore that only about half of which I will understand. Betting rn Karz was always supposed to betray the technocrats. He may have gotten too involved but just like how Alvod brung all those enemies to help him breakthrough. I'm betting Karz and Emperor Limitless needed to use the Technocrat elites to help their own ascension and fuel the system's birth. 5) It's wild to me that Zac has never once tried to contact her. EVER! And the one time he does she thinks it's because he needs help in his progression or because he wants to brag about his evolution. She really knows nothing about Zac. 6) Congrats to me for getting through all this without insulting Kenzie.

Dranek19

Is this how zac finds a backer 🤔

Darnell Maxwell

I'm betting it's from Zac's innate affinity with the void. He's had high affinities with the void since the day he was born. That's why he's not a cultivator and any affinity boosting treasure just get eaten by his body and turned into normal energy.

SandreX

I bet not remembering Karzs name is his doing, because if Zac is the example he should be outside of heaven, completely cut out soo how can anything stay that is his? I'm pretty sure Zac can remember him only because he has his bloodline

Anonymous

Wow! Zac’s biological father is mentioned for the first time ever!! Wow, crazy reveal. But what’s the third source of genetic material, and why does the Kayar-Elu biological material make up such a small portion?????

Mason W

Wow! This is getting real.

Random Information

Although I suppose Leandra would reply: “Advice is a dangerous gift, even from the wise to the wise, and all courses may run ill.”

Lex Luther S

Interesting. Makes me wonder how the sindris clan is gonna play throughout the story; will they be friend of foe? I truly hope friend because zac could use a few more at the moment. Besides, they're basically lost cousins to zac so the interactions will be rather interesting; though I do wonder of there's any others with the void emperor bloodline around. Rather doubt it or could be the bloodline can't be rekindled in the way Zacs is.

DrSubterfuge

I think the three are Kayar-Elu from his mom and a combo of Sindris Clan and Void Emperor from his bio dad. As for why so little is from his mom, they almost certainly monkeyed around with bloodlines after conception.

Anonymous

Pretty sure that was what Leandra was thinking when Zac asked here.

SandreX

I'm increasingly doubting that Zac spent even a sec in Leandra's womb, more like he was created in a lab

Dev Rez

Leandra must be lying right? Wal'Zo called Zac "That man's son." He wouldn't reference a descendant unrelated to the undertaking as "that man" when talking to Laondio.

Michael Fannon

I'm guessing it is a void thing. The system is built on concepts of Dao, so the void might be able to bypass restrictions. Or could be chaos too. Guess we will see

Michael Fannon

Karz is part of the system theory comfirmed (mostly). Still say he is somewhat aware based on how Sender said they hung out and reminisced.

Michael Fannon

Yup. Still believe Eoz is involved too ever since that weird obelisk too. Plus there is the whole if Karz was betrayed, why did the Limitless emperor intent call Zac an "old friend"? And was there a betrayal at the end by the 2 setring up the technocrats? Or was it something else?

Hms

There is a lot to unpack here. Really thought that Leandra and Karz were the parents but looks like Karz is just the grandfather. This whole 1/3 thing is bizarre and begs the question what is the last 1/3 with void emperor and Kayar-Elu being two of the parts. Is she referring to the Eoz part which would make sense since how does someone get genetics from 3 different people otherwise. Figured Karz was the system like everyone else so now the question is where is the dad and whether he was the guy riding the comet into nowhere in Zac's early visions or was eliminated by Leandra when he betrayed her. Not sure if it was made clear whether she killed him when she was talking about it a while ago. Fact Zac is part of two of the prime technocrat clans also adds an extra layer to all this and could possibly explain why Zac was helped in the tower since his great grandfather is the head of the Sinders clan and the woman that saved him probably his grandmother the way this family reveal is going.

Hartmann

The Dao Partner Leandra killed was from before she was an Autarch. There is no way that guy is Zac's father. Only the Patriarch of the Sindris Clan or a Late / Peak Autarch of theirs would be worthy of "helping" create Zac.

Henry Wartemberg

It’s a good point. Also are you noticing a mix of inherited traits in Zac… Void bloodline Hard to kill Karma blocking/ dual bodies Annnd Reality/ luck just seems to swerve around him. If he somehow has some of Laondio’s bloodline that may give him enough resistance to be able to hold onto Taboo information

Michael Fannon

He has 3 sources of parents instead of the normal 2. 1 is his mom, Leandra. One is his biological father who wasa decendent of Karz and a technocrat. Final one is unknown, but I'm betting whatever that is, it is the reason his bloodline is corrupted and inverted. Maybe Robert really was partly his father? Or maybe a genetic sample from the first people since they had zero connections to the Dao?

Dev Rez

It would make sense that "that man" is Karz because his name was erased from time and fate.

Kharas

If this series have painted the "system world" as anything, its cruel without boundaries. if you have something, people will take it. If you come from an ancient faction, you are either so far ahead of the rest of the universe you dont care, or your elders have some plan in the works that will ensure that you fuck over any one that gets even slightly in the way. Just saying that I very much doubt that the Sindris clan will end up as allies. And if they do.. we can start a gambling pot on how many chapters its gonna take before they try to stab Zac in the back and gets beaten up/exploded/eaten for it.

Hms

Can't be patriarch since it says it was the patriarchs daughter that had Zac's father. Not sure if Zac was in stasis or some other strange birth method but either Leandra had him as an autarch like her dao partner or they had him earlier and froze him until eons later. Either way I can't see another dao partner that would make sense unless its some other "method" involved for people at that level.

Kharas

So when Zac heard some sort of voice go "old friend" and the end of the thunder throne (yee.. thats a thing in thi universe), it was either the limitless emperor talking about the void emperor, or the other way around.

SandreX

Here is wild thought, what if the deeper Zac dives into void and stronger he becomes, add to that chaos, he eventually will be forgotten by almost everyone? Remember that after tribulation throne Emily felt as if he was outside of nature somehow and that's just Zac scratching the surface, so imagine when he is lot stronger. It would be sad if no one in his own Empire would remember him, not even his followers... Empire of Void. Maybe someone like Iz could, maybe

Oldfaithful

He wasn't born on earth,he was born on a technocrat world thousands of years ago. The system went berserk and wiped out a good section of a galaxy. Zacs mom survived and had zac in stasis for a long time.... Essentially Zac is from a long time ago in a galaxy far far away.

Kharas

One hell of an interesting chapter. Lots of loredumps about where his weird genetics come from. A very healthy tonic of 2 top tier technocrat clans and probably a tiny piece off void emperor thrown in for good measure.. Unless the sindris clan counts for that and we have a whole new genetic makeup in the cocktail as well.. a part so strong it can corrupt the void emperor bloodline. The loot from the Ensolus ruins sounds more and more juicy the more we hear about it. And we have still not seen that god damn contribution list.. Maybe he is waiting with showing it until the Centurion spear reach its final destination. The spear can either hit more Kan´Tanu and send Zac on a shopping spree for more planets to his little empire.. Or it can hit something totally unrelated and poison the chalice from the first hit.. After all.. normally when Zac gets a windfall its both something good, and something bad mixed in.

Anonymous

Mortal blurb because the reddit post in PF? 😂

Thenais

Oh my

Henry Wartemberg

Well the term son of Eoz is used. Also I get the feeling they used technology to shape Zac’s make up. He may lean more into the Void emporer side than a “conventional grandson”

Gabriel F

So Zac strong body able to survive almost anything until now is inheritance from Sindris Clan. The double body from Kayar-Elu and the Void Emperor bloodline from Karz.

Henry Wartemberg

To be fair. For someone with a inner world i doubt that it was beyond her to fake that with the non cultivating world

Ryan

Is it just me or did they make it sound as if Zac was some how the direct son of the original void emperor

Palmer Evans

Interesting point - Zac and Laondio’s reality bending similarity does stand out to me. So Laondio and Karz had this intricate plan to trick the Technocrat factions … who knows if Karz having a kid with them was a part of some crazy master plan that ended with an heir including both of their bloodlines showing up at a pivotal moment?

Palmer Evans

Seems like it would be the limitless emperor (Laondio) talking about Karz, right? Why would Karz say that about his descendant?

SandreX

You are confusing timelines, Zac was born like 4k years ago, Void Emperor and probably his wife and kids died eons ago. Also Zac sure as hell isn't natural, he was created in lab

Joshua Little

Thanks for the chapter.

Indy

"Yes, your biological father is from the Sindris Clan and a direct descendant of the Void Emperor." no she was very exact in that he isnt the direct son of the original void emperor ;)

SandreX

I don't think Void emperor's bloodline is corrupted, as Zac mentiond after his breakthrough it's more like different variant (System can't clasify correctly like it can't see "void" daos).

Kharas

Yeee, thats true. I imagine we will find out tomorrow. Because its not like he would suddenly cut away to somewhere else while in the middle of this....

Andrew

Thank you!

RWS

Thanks for the chapter, I was not expecting a mass information drop. Now it makes me wonder exactly what Kensie's bloodline is. Does she have the real limitless emperor's bloodline? Bring on the next chapter already.

Michael Fannon

Zac was born on Earth. He was conceived 4 thousand years ago, but was sealed. Like how Iz was conceived over 2 millions years ago but was only born recently.

Michael Fannon

Laondio remant was speaking of Karz is what I thought, but now it brings into the whole question of betrayal and how the system came to be. Who betrayed who and did the system not function properly because of the attack?

Anonymous

She is leandra, and the mortal from pre-integrations kid. Leandra giving birth is what woke her back up

Anonymous

Interesting idea, and an uber tragic one too. He's always preferred solo adventures but treasures his closest relationships. From what we've seen, chaos (or was it just annihilation/oblivion?) seems to be the key since it wipes people's memories after he uses it near them. I wonder if karz dabbled with chaos/oblivion as well, or if that was an effect of the void.

Anonymous

I think Ryan meant that in the past they had made it sound that way

Anonymous

If memory serves, he was absolutely born somewhere else. We got the lore/memory of him as a baby and them trying to implant Jarvis into him. But then the system showed up and fucked shit up

Hms

If the void emperor's son is Zac's dad and Leandra is still alive how can you assume he is dead along with his kids?

Mike Naka

It's Happy Time. 'La la la Luuuuuuuke. I am your Faaaaaaather' - Tommy Boy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TsI3lFHkU_s

HateMongerian

It'd be interesting if in the digital books after you read past a certain point, it would remove Karz name from earlier in the book. You would have to reset your progress for the name to appear again while you are reading it for the "first time" again.

Anonymous

I wonder how the terminus and terminus council fit into this. Lots of folk commenting about people that should/could be dead, but we have no idea who is on that council...

Enzo Elacqua

What was the Technocrat codex again? I vaugely remember it as being like the final inheritence of theirs but not much else

Mike Naka

So what I've gleamed is that Karz and Laondio are frenemies. They used each other to get to the top. Somewhere along the line, Laondio came up with this scheme to make themselves even more powerful by creating the System. Karz knows how dangerous and obsessive Laondio is and agrees with him, maybe for real at first. To create the System, Laondio needs something from the Technocrats so Karz is sent as a plant. Remember the plant scene? Wasn't it Laondio literally talking to a plant. LOL Karz spends 100s of thousands of years with them and has 2nd thoughts about Laondio hair-brained idea so he starts scheming with the Sindris clan to stop Laondio. At some point they realize that Laondio's plan can't be stopped, and the only way it can be un-done is in the far, far future, kinda like their own Dr. Strange moment. Leandra thinks Karz betrayed them, but he was actually fulfilling the secret long-term plan. A great idea for a flashback if I do say so myself. :-) Karz and the Sindris clan come up with the idea of Zac- a Zero Affinity Container and use the Kayar-Elu to germinate the seed. Karz accepts Laondio's plan to become the System b/c he knows that in the far future he'll be able to nurture Zac so that he grows powerful enough to undue the System.

M💬

So it makes sense now why Sendor might not know who the void emperor is due to what he did.

R. Maxwell Steele

The way they talk about each other, I think they were more likely true allies than frenemies. I think that they needed an AI from the technocrats to be the brain for the system. Stealing that was betraying the technocrats. I think that both Laondio and Kars were both involved in creating Zac so that the system would have a check/balance if things didn't play out the way they wanted. I don't think their goal is to undue the system, but have the system grow for all the years so that any problems with the system become apparent. Then when Zac becomes a supremacy, he can fix the flaws in the system. So same sort of thinking but they were always going to play both sides and betray the technocrats.

Aaron Schwartz

It’s an inheritance from a previous era that got catapulted forwards in time. I’m not sure if that’s the same thing as an eternal heritage, since those things are actually around for the cataclysm and survive it.

If i remember correctly, the technocrat codex was an inheritance from a previous era that the selvari got their hands on, and is what made them technocrats. Similar to Ultom and the left imperial palace in this era you can say.

Anonymous

Oldfaithful mentioned it, but yeah, Zac was not born on earth. I think there’s one tiny brief mention in one of the Kindle books somewhere that Zac found out Leandra had him as a toddler or younger with her when she married Zac’s Earth Dad.

Darnell Maxwell

Hah, nice try! But I'm not falling for that! I said I wasn't gonna insult Kenzie this chapter and I'm gonna stand by it.

Victor

I believe that the Draugr monarchs were talking about this, and how one has to be at least an Autarch in order to pass on the bloodline effectively, when they discovered he was the only Draugr with the Eoz bloodline and were considering whether to kidnap him to keep him safe, etc. My theory is that once the cultivators get to such an advanced state as being an Autarch they might be able to play around with their bodies and pick and choose the bloodline inheritance for their descendants. Maybe Zac’s mom and dad did this, and Leandra chose to only pass on less than 1/3 of her bloodline to Zac and his half Sendris half Void Emperor father added the rest. We’ll have to see.

Victor

Maybe Zac’s father was the dude that was sucking the sun from his vision when he opened his human bloodline node, i remember the dude was like in some sort of platform going around and devouring stuff and cutting himself up for releasing impurities. Zac didn’t associate him with Karz though. He might be the missing link between Karz and Zac.

Salvo

If only there was a SYSTEM to supply background information... where you show an ancestor working with powers..

Nikolai Beckel

Ooh Shit, sick reveal, ofc it is stuff we already had a good idea of, but it has been cleared up significantly, awesome.

Michael

This is the same era as the limitless empire. Ultom isn’t an eternal heritage, just a normal inheritance on steroids.

Michael

Idk if it’s true but I have been imagining the terminus council as just an agreement between current A-grades to restrict who can attempt to pass the terminus. Since that’s probably a big universe changing situation.

Michael

You mean the fake “real”Emperor Limitless’ bloodline

Salvo

The "Zero-Affinity-Container or ZAC" is super gold star sleuthing!

Salvo

Wow! We finally got info from the bitter divorcee! "You ruined my life and you sister's life" :throws a liqour bottle, killing your finance in front of you:"... here's a quarter, go kill God, he deserves it."

Neneera

It feels like both is true, back in the courtyard where Zac got his second seal the ghost implied that he was familiar with Zac's father. Now we got the information that Zac's father is part of the Sindris Clan. If we add that Zac's mother somehow only contributed a third of his genetics, then it seems to imply that Zac is a clone of his father with some modifications.

Will Mill

ZAC - Zero Affinity Container. He was created to fill a specific role in the universe's next evolution.

Telewyn

Zac doesn’t really have a reason to do it, but I kinda want to see Leandra’s reaction to Zac name dropping Karz .

Lex Luther S

Wa'Zol called Zac "That man's son" when he was reminiscing in the decaying Ultom. It's likely that zac is either the son of the void emperor or whatever zacs mothers clan did to his bloodline caused it to reach a purity that basically makes it to where zac could be considered his son... or maybe all his children, even those of future generations would be considered his child.

Lex Luther S

What? You mean get rid of Karz name when zac first had his bloodline awakening? Why?

Lex Luther S

The selvari didn't find the codex, it just appeared in their heads changing their bodies and minds. From memory, when it appeared, it wiped out quite a large number of people but the sacrafice was well worth it in how it changed their people.

Anonymous

Ultom is an eternal heritage, it is why all of the A grade factions are gunning for it.

Lex Luther S

Bro, Ultom has been repeatedly called an eternal heritage of the lost era. Its the left imperial palace that was built around ultom in this era; zac even calling the left imperial palace a shell around the real thing, ultom. It's also why a flamebearer is so important, and why Wa'Zol commented if zac would break the chain or become another link. Ultom also holds a unique significance, so much so that it can help decide the direction of the era.

Salvo

Convo 2, 15 years later: "Your sister is probably going to die by a flying liqour bottle if you don't stop goofing around!" :click: convo 3. "I don't care you killed a solar system with a quarter! Don't talk to your Dad's first wife or her kids you slacker!"

Darthnarciss

I think there's a bit of misinformation in here. Either the Technocrats histories have warped over time, they were subjected to counter-intelligence, or it was just a standard "cultivator using an enemy to break through" as mentioned. Also I'm like 95% that it wasn't Laondio who erased Karz's identity, but Karz himself who "ate" it. Now whether that was as part of a scheme, plot, or as part of a trap I don't know. But everything we've seen of Laondio makes him come across as "that rich kid who somehow for some reason is you actual friend that has your back no matter what".

Luke Scheffe

It would be hilarious if he just name dropped Karz, revealing that he had, in fact, been getting bloodline visions contradicting her claims.

Luke Scheffe

Also, there’s the simplest answer: Leandra could be lying to manipulate him. The only bit I trust about this conversation is that he is partially descended of the Sindris line, and that the Void Emperor visited the technocrats. The first because it is to verifiable and risky to lie about, and the second because it matches up with historical information.

Chloe

I'd love to see Zac go on a buying spree and adding more planets. This please.

Berry McCockiner

Where does Eoz come into play with all that was dropped today. If it confirmed his back grounds, then where does his other half come into play?

Kahn Thorpe

...so Karz is Zacs grandpa... well then... my theory was he was a decendant but I didn't think it would be that close of a connection

xlinkedx

Maybe it's like the System's data on Void is corrupted. Error 404

What if it's the karma blocking ability he got a D-grade. Stronger version wouldn't let you even tie his name down.

Anonymous

By healer girl do you mean the one that saved Zach in the undead lands on earth? I think I missed that if so

Darnell Maxwell

Yeah her. She's a life attuned healer and is part of the Atwood Empire now. Her healing abilities also resonate well with the Mavai's life attuned constitutions. And they took some inspiration from eachother to help improve their techniques. That's about all we got from her. She should also still be in E Grade. Sidenote I wonder if their's a healer that ever became a Supremacy. I've never seen a story where a healer reached the peak.

Thenais

No wonder Thea was found lacking. Even iz would probably fail to reach his mum standards

Robert C

This is an error from last chapter. "More shocking was that she called him Void Emperor. Not even Sendor seemed to have known that name..." Now a quote of Sendor from chapter 1062, "I really can't talk about that, for both our sakes. Didn't you see the System's reaction the last time? The Void Emperor and the Limitless Emperor set the stage for this era."

Anonymous

You should read Azarinth healer by Rhaegar. She is not solely a healer but is more of a pugelist/healer, but if you are looking for a story with a healer protagonist reaching the peak of power, that is a good one

Salvo

The Arcaz form is the thing that needs to be addressed. What if the first Karz/ Liandro fight created the abyssal shores? 'empire needs soldiers, time to raise some zombies. Come here Karz, we'll add your bloodline's hunger for energy even if they are dead.' They fight, lab is destroyed and creates the abyssal shores. The Sindris may have some other 'unkillable' trait like a Phoenix or emergency backup clone. They are two linked paradoxes to the natural order. Which Zecia clan is linked to that looks like a Phoenix... the church of the everlasting Dao, the front for Sindris! An enslaved group that kills system members cause they 'love' the system, that just so happens needs bodies to possess...

Robert C

He did know. Chapter 1062 he says the era was shaped partly by the the Void emperor

Darryl Williams

She was peak E grade when she went on that Ogras led mission to the million gates territory, She’s probably hit D grade by now

Jordan Jones

In good faith, I have to say that, while as interesting as this lore is, it confuses the issue and dilutes the narrative in a way I hope will be addressed. The set-up for eventual betrayal between Karz and Laondio was well executed, but this muddles the canvas of narrative in a way that is unsatisfying for me. This is needed information to understand the stakes, but for a story to have the necessary thrust, it must contain a thread of righteousness. Not necessarily Justice, but something most people can get behind. A story needs a protagonist. There needs to be a protagonist for the Limitless Empire’s story. Smearing the Void Emperor’s legitimacy in its course is off-putting for me. I thought Dao Sigils as an advancement on Dao Molds, were a legitimate progression for Zac’s Path, and a way to equalize his way to challenging cultivators with as many opportunities as he possesses but with a stronger cultivational base.

SandreX

To be honest I kind of don't want any twist in Zac's and Leandra's relationship. I mean something like Leandra secretly loves Zac as her child and for his own good she acts like that. I think it would be better if she genuinely hates him because of what he represents, because he is personification of fall of her people and she hates him because she was forced to give this "monster" her bloodline for her clan's last desperate gambit, but in the end his "father"/ancestor liberated him and now he is "cursed" heaven's favourite child

Indy

so, we have no clue what Leandra's relationship to Zac really is. it goes from i love you beyond anything but i have to be a bitch because the system is watching and would kill you. To i deply despire your very existance and only put up with you to manipulate you for my benefit before i reduce you to genetic material to do it all over again. As such we have no clue how to validate what she said, it could all be bullshit, or worst it could all be even more bullshit with her only knowing bullshit because nobody told her ever the truth :(

SandreX

I mean Zac checks all boxes for Leandra to despise him, pretty sure his existence was needed only to contain Jeeves. That's why system doesn't care about his existence it even helps him, but it will make sure to hunt down Kenzie. Leandra seems to only care about Jeeves and maybe about Kenzie, but Zac.. well he is just a tool at best

Random Information

"Secondly, they inherited a technology that rendered them almost unkillable." A save-point backup?

Kharas

They did say that buying planets was cheaper than upgrading the ones they had, and that having to powerfull planets before you could protect them were dangerous. Another reason not to buy planets were that you would need to cover their warfronts until a new generation grew up and the cultivators from that generation could go straight into the breach (funny thoughts all around). But with the focus of the war now on the "physical" front line, the focus on the warfronts might have reduced to make this a better deal. I really like the "Empire gets bigger" parts of the story, so Im all for some expansion, both in quantity of planents, and in the quality of Earth and Ensolus.

Salvo

Deep theory time: The void emperor was quote, "Banished beyond time and fate" there is 1 being that has reached this far, EOZ. Abyss itself is impossible, a hole in reincarnation. If a bleeding void emperor broke reality to return, wouldn't his desendant blood activate the pools? Wouldn't a body template power approve of similar traits? What is death to someone forbidden to die?

Lex Luther S

Her relationship is zacs mother. Though she only makes up 1/3 of his bloodline, it doesn't really change that fact. Now their personal relationship is a lot harder to describe, she fostered hatred from zac by taking kenzie and "killing" Thea while threatening if he ever showed up before her again, she'd kill him if he didn't have the strength to protect himself. Yet we've been shown plenty that her doing that was to give zac the momentum and drive to push forward, with zac even mentioning it countless times that if he took the easy way he'd never catch up to his mother; and I feel she knew this would happen. So in her own demented way, she cares for zac, even if it meant she had to become the bad guy

Lex Luther S

Remember that technocrat that owned that battle roach zac killed? His body was constantly being regenerated by nano particles and only died because of zacs dao of rot. I imagine it's that technology that gave them a roach like vitality, afterall, she said "Almost immortal" meaning they could still be killed by someone sufficiently strong enough. That and a strong constitution; zacs has constantly proven its durability to punishment and other energies so its likely something from the sindris clan as well.

Lex Luther S

Or could be Laondio and karz plotted this together and karz allowed him to not only wound him but erase his name and identity from history. As for why, well could be laondio saw the future and it was decided the void emperor needed children with the sindris clan for some reason and this was part of a grander scheme than ever imagined all to ensure zacs birth as the literal void emperor.

Random Information

Nah. Multiple clone back-ups is way cooler. Or being made out of liquid metal like the Terminator.

SandreX

Well it might be true or she simply look all this as not wasting her clan's work. If you remember way back, her prepared scenario was that Zac would take at least decade to become E grade. So she simply made use of the situation.

SandreX

There is nothing of "best mom" in her, plus she might not even be his mom, at best biological donor nothing more

Indy

my hole point is thats all just speculation just like almost anything else in this story. we know that even supremecies can: - be very caring about their (capable) heir -> Iz - be absolut ruthless an just using them as pawns -> Havens we dont know how Leandra feels, what typ of person she really is, what her real motivations and plans are, its all just bla bla

Indy

or just have a supremacy turn back time for you XD. Death, time, the system, the havens we have no real absolut lines, everything can be reversed, restored with no true impossibilities, for every rule you have exceptions, and for every exception at least one more fallback. That makes everything so meaningless in a sense, personal i think its not wise to operate a story this way.

Jacob

I wonder if Laondio used the bodies of the Tecnocrat Supremicies as building materials for the system. Similar to how Iz's Aunt used the bodies of Autarchs to build her Cosmic vessel.

Salvo

Well inherited implies it was there from the start, which the birth of technocrats was time travel. Can't kill what you can't hit. Either you're 50 miles away or 50 years away.

Anonymous

Man you are all wrong. they had the Contra Code. UDUDLRLRABABSS

SandreX you do get Thenais was joking right. You're really invested in Zacs moms a b*&%# lol

Darryl Williams

I feel like it’s already done. Ever since I realized Thea wasn’t actually dead I felt like she wasn’t ever gonna completely be a villain

Anonymous

Even if it is karz, son doesn't always have to mean literal biological direct child. "Son of karz", could equally mean descendant of.

Anonymous

If leandra can be trusted, that didn't happen to the original void emperor who was presumably much stronger, it took the limitless emperor doing it directly with his weird reality bending powers. But that's assuming that the original void emperor ever messed with chaos, and that Leandra isn't lying or just mistaken.

SandreX

Well all Leandra knows is what Karz wanted her clan to know, so it's possible she simply doesn't know real truth.

SandreX

Well she had logical explanation for Thea's case so it doesn't exactly imply something

DirePants

We really need to simplify the lore. Or explain it more succinctly. I’m often not sure what’s being said or if what’s being said it’s a typo. Got the gist of it, but it’s somewhat convoluted. Still, great story. The intrigue is increasing as more mysteries unfold. But maybe a special chapter that tells the lore we’ve been privy to thus far with links to chapters where information is learned.

Dave Richards

I assumed the vision on that platform travelling through the stars was in fact, Karz, at some point. I'm betting the other part of his bloodline is that they had some genetic material of the Void Emperor himself stored away and added that to the mix.

Dave Richards

I think the only ones betrayed were the Technocrats lol. Karz was working towards the same goal as Laondio the whole time he was with the Selvari, I suspect. And yeah, I assume it was a remnant of Laondio that "helped" Zac.

rene kaminawash

Dun dun dun he didn't get the milk

Other Tan

The first defiier also is unknown, maybe it is Karz as well, just cursed to be unknown.

Jeff McCulley

He knew the name, just not that it was Zac’s.

Steve

It mentions new buildings in the Ensolus ruins... I don't remember that. Can anyone sum up or point me to the right chapter?

Jeff McCulley

They appeared when Zac was on the Tribulation Throne. The energy went through his quantum gate to the Arcaz body that was sitting atop the monument at the center of the Ensolus Ruins. That energy jumped into the monument and activated it, and a bunch of buildings were brought out of spatial folds.

eriah cat

Typo? He'd spent the last minutes talking with his contacts from various forces, sending out feelers about Vilari while thanking them for him up with the Endemire Sage and Everfast Monarch. I don't understand this sentence. It could use some rework. This one to: Raging waves coursed through Zac's heart from having multiple answers were answered at once.

Anonymous

I’m surprised, I thought Zac was made in a fucking lab or something
