He had already noticed it back during his meeting with Catheya, but there was something wrong with his chest. Iz Tayn had left a burn on his body that he hadn’t been able to get rid of with healing pills. However, getting his torso blown apart and reformed by Creation Energy had dealt with that problem.

Or so he thought.

He still couldn’t see any mark on his body, but he had felt a slight pain in his chest multiple times now, but the feeling was gone before he had a chance to react, making him almost doubt it was ever there. He couldn’t see anything amiss, but the fire mage seemed to come from a real powerful force.

She might have all kinds of means of tracking he had no idea about.

"The Thayer Consortia happens to be skilled in those kinds of endeavors, we'll happily help in this regard... For a small remuneration," Calrin said as he gave a prim bow. “Young Lord, it is good to see you again.”

Zac didn't immediately greet the wily merchant, but he rather gazed at the Sky Gnome for a few seconds as his thumb rubbed the defensive treasure that he received from Calrin before he left for the tower.

“Did you know that the ring you gave me would cause trouble with the Tsarun clan?” Zac asked while he tried to gauge the slippery merchant's face for any lies.

“No way!” Calrin said, looking genuinely shocked. “It is just a defensive treasure that has been kept in my family. I just wanted to make sure that you, my great benefactor, wouldn't meet any untoward end during your first sojourn into the Cultivator World!“

“Well, your small gift led to the destruction of the Zethaya Pill House, and the death of almost a hundred elites of the sector. Including a Dravorak Princeling,” the demon snorted from the side. "Oh, and a main branch Tsarun Scion along with all their members at the Base Town. Thayer Consortia might become famous across the whole sector over the following years as the rumors spread."

“It- Ah? Dravorak as in the Dravorak Dynasty?” the Sky Gnome said, his face aghast. “Did they see the signet as well? I mean, it wasn’t my intention to cause any trouble. I don't understand what's going on?"

“Just what happened during your climb?!” Kenzie exclaimed with shock from the side after glaring at the Sky Gnome, who quickly busied himself with the pile of treasures by the side.

“It’s complicated,” Zac sighed. “I got spotted by one of Calrin’s old enemies, but problem was that I didn’t handle it well. Things got a bit out of control from there and a bunch of people tried to kill me. But it was mostly sorted out.”

“Sorted out?” Ogras snorted from the side, but he didn’t add any more oil to the fire after a glare from Zac.

"Well, we also learned a few things about the origins of the Redeemer. For now, make sure that no one on Port Atwood mentions where they come from if they decide to head to the Tower of Eternity. My identity might be a bit delicate," Zac said after some thought as he turned to Kenzie.

"If I may, young master," Calrin said from the side, "What level did you reach?"

“73rd level. The entrance of the 9th floor," Zac said, not bothering to hide the truth.

"9th Floor!" Calrin screamed while the appraisers looked up from the pile of treasures for the first time, shock clearly written all over their faces.

"Monster! True monster!" the Sky Gnome muttered, before his face lit up again. "But that's for the best. With you as a guardian, The Thayer Consortia will reach unprecedented heights. I, Calrin Thayer, will not only have led my family out of a calamity, but toward the heaven's themselves!"

"What are you getting so big-headed for, you little bastard," Ogras snorted from the side. "You better think of new ways to provide benefits to your shareholders instead. A big tree might give you shade, but it also requires a lot of nutrients."

Zac slightly smiled at the antics, but he didn't correct the demon. He still couldn't tell if the Sky Gnome had exposed his connection to the Thayer Consortia on purpose or not, but it had caused heaps of trouble regardless. The little merchant would have to work extra hard to make up for the chaos he had caused.

But he knew that he would have to rely on the Sky Gnome to a certain degree after meeting Catheya. He had no idea that elites required more energy to level up compared to weaker cultivators, which honestly made him worry about his own situation a bit.

Not only were his attributes almost ten times higher compared to a normal cultivator, but he also had high efficiency on the attributes. Add to that that he had a second class to level, and the even more troubling issue of him being a mortal. All that combined made for an extremely torturous leveling experience that would require terrifying amounts of bloodshed and treasures to reach the peak of E-Grade.

As for the grades above that, he didn't even dare think about it.

“How long until you’ve gone through everything?” Zac asked instead as he turned to Clarin.

“We’ll have a preliminary answer for you in two hours,” Calrin hurriedly said. “You can focus on your cultivation with ease.”

Zac nodded before he turned to Ogras.

“So, do you have any advice? The information crystals I have only mentioned the three tribulations,” Zac asked. “Heart, Body, and Soul. It said that using treasures to pass is impossible and that you had to rely on your own prowess. Then it just went on to say that one should have an elder near-by in case of a mishap.”

The information crystal was something he had bought in Base Town during the first week he stayed there. He had bought a bunch of general information crystals that contained all sorts of things that were good to know. Most of it was things that any teenager belonging to a cultivation force would know, which was why they cost almost nothing.

However, that also meant that they didn’t delve too deep into any topics, only giving an overview.

Buying the crystals had been the first step toward self-reliance for the humans of Port Atwood. It wasn’t that he didn’t trust Ogras or Alyn’s teachings, but their world view and knowledge were influenced by growing up in Clan Azh’Rezak.

What worked there wasn’t necessarily optimal for Port Atwood, so it didn’t hurt getting another source of knowledge. It wasn’t anywhere near as comprehensive as Thea’s library, but it was a start.

“It differs,” Ogras said as he looked at the Nexus Node while Kenzie was putting the finishing touches to the support array. “It tests you in one of three ways, depending on where The Ruthless Heaven’s feels you are lacking. The tribulation will strike at your weakness, and either you pass or you fail.”

“What happens if you fail?” Zac asked.

“Anything from mild wounds to death depending on how badly you performed and whether someone could disperse the tribulation for you,” the demon shrugged. “But truthfully, I’ve only met one who failed his trial so badly he was forced to give up on cultivation. Obburak, a guard in my home. He undertook the trial drunk out of his mind, it ended with him going insane.”

“Insane? Just what did he encounter?” Zac asked with a frown.

“The Body Tribulation is essentially The Ruthless Heavens beating you up, and you just have to bear it. It is to test that you have created a foundation sturdy enough to keep building upon. You will probably not get that one considering your monstrous constitution,” the demon said with an envious glance. “It is the most common trail for Dexterity and Intelligence-based classes.”

“And then?” Zac urged.

“Next there is the Spirit Tribulation,” the demon continued. “Your soul is attacked in a way that neither Skills nor items can protect you from. You need to use your soul and Dao to defend yourself. The Soul is the connection to the Heavens, and it needs to be strong enough to withstand the weight of the Dao,” Alyn said.

Zac grimaced as he heard the description. His soul was already in a pretty fragile state after having been forcibly torn apart and mended twice the past month. It was a patchwork upon a patchwork, where the slightest thing might set off a chain-reaction beyond his control. However, his soul had become pretty sturdy from the series of harrowing experiences, so he still felt some confidence in case he got that one, at least while the Remnants stayed inactive.

“Finally there is the Heart Tribulation. You will be thrown into illusions and temptations, and you will need to break free. The Heavens test your conviction and mental fortitude. A sturdy body and soul is needed to walk the path of cultivation, but a resolute heart might be even more important,” the demon continued. “This is the trial that turned Obburak into a simpleton, by the way.”

Zac slowly nodded as he listened to the options. The third one didn’t feel too difficult either. His mental state should be a lot sturdier compared to most peak F-Grade warriors after his countless life-and-death battles. Many cultivators who had reached this point had never even left their own clan’s estates, and this kind of trial might be pretty difficult for that kind of greenhouse warriors.

Still, it was a relief that the risk of death or crippling was pretty low. He could still fail, but he would at least be able to heal up and fight the Undead Empire in his current condition.

“Is it the same for all the rarities, or are there more things to be wary of when talking Epic Classes or higher?" Zac asked.

“Perhaps Epic and higher have different trials apart from the normal three, I wouldn’t know,” the demon slowly said. “But they will no doubt be more dangerous. Each increase in rarity means a sharp increase in difficulty that accompanies the tribulation."

Zac looked at the Crystal with mixed emotions. He wasn’t sure if he was ready. He wanted to consolidate his gains and stabilize his foundations before attempting this. But time waited for no man, and he couldn’t hold off any longer.

Hearing about the losses out on the ocean, and seeing the scorched landscape outside his home had been a stark reminder that every day he spent on accumulating his strength was another day of disastrous losses across the world.

Perhaps he would be able to enter the heart of the Dead Zone and take out the Lich King without evolving. But perhaps he wouldn’t. With the situation looking like it did there would be no second chances or do-overs. If his assault failed or even got slightly delayed the whole world would fall.

He could not have that on his consciousness.

“It’s done,” Kenzie said as she looked up with a tired grin.

“Thank you. Try to rest up,” Zac smiled, a pang of guilt blossoming up in his heart again.

He had heard from Ogras just how hard she had fought to keep things together while he was gone, and her unstable aura clearly indicated that her soul was overtaxed. He had already learned from Jaol that using high tech was draining on the soul, and Jeeves was no doubt as high tech as they came.

“Here, take these with you as well,” Zac said as he took out a stack of Soul Crystals. “They’ll help restore your mental energy.”

“Where did you get that?” Ogras said with wide eyes, his hand already reaching out to snatch one from Kenzie.

“Here, take this,” Zac snorted and took out a few more after he slapped away the demon’s hand. “I got these Soul Crystals from the Mentalist Cultivator on the 7th floor as well.”

“It’s called a Soul Crystal?” Ogras asked curiously as he tried absorbing it.

“No idea, that’s just what I called it,” Zac shrugged. “They didn’t have these things on your home planet?”

“I don’t think I’ve ever heard of crystals like this in our sector at all,” Ogras muttered with a frown. “Perhaps our sector simply doesn’t produce them. Trade between sectors is pretty difficult from what I’ve heard, and only the top people do it. Nobodies like us will have to make do with local products.”

“So I won’t be able to restock on these things?” Zac muttered with disappointment.

He had thought that might be a real possibility after not having seen a single Soul Crystal during his time in the Base Town, but he had held on to some small hope that was because he’d only been there for less than two weeks. But judging by the demon’s reaction he wasn’t so lucky.

He suddenly regretted using Soul Crystals like candy during his climb, but he also knew that they had played a large part in him managing to break through the 8th floor. But he would have to be more careful about any expenditure going forward, which was fine now that the two primordial Remnants were restraining each other.

With the array installed Zac couldn't wait any longer, and he walked over to the large crystal with brisk steps, anticipation making his heart pound. The moment Zac touched the Nexus Node to initiate the upgrade a screen appeared in front of him, but it was vastly different compared to the sparse rows of information he had seen the last time. He almost completely forgot his surroundings as he eagerly read the boxes.

Thanks for the chapter

Andrew

Thank you!

Niko

wohoo, option 3 or 5 depends on what direction you want to go.

Malcolm Tent

I thought he would have a second arcane class now, since his coffin fragment reached middle rank before he tried to choose?

Han Pol

Wow that are many interesting options. I think the arcane one is out. But while they all sound good or bad, most seem unfitting in my option. The classes with 3 attributes might be a better fit to keep him more balanced. Also I would say divergence or hatchedman and upgrade of undying Bulwark. But I guess our MC will finally take the right deccion.

Malcolm Tent

Also as much as I love the idea of him getting an arcane I have to say option five is clearly the most interesting.

Kiwilord

Thank goodness we reached the class this week. I have to admit I have no idea what he should choose

Juli Freixi

My bet is in option 3 or 5 but I would like Vessel of Destruction...

Kyle J Smith

I think option 3 or 4 would be my choice

Juli Freixi

Btw, How does the base attributes work? For example, + 7. Is it for all attributes? Also, what does Attributes Per Level (x1/x2/x3) mean?

Bobby B.

Number 4 I think, would be the best

Maniac000

I think he’ll go with option 2 because he seems satisfied on his path with Hatchetman to take an Arcane class for it. And he has made little comments in recent chapters about his frustrations with Bulwark so he might want to diverge on that one.

Anonymous

So the classes are based on Dao like: 1] Bodhi Axe+Coffin 2] Axe Bodhi+Coffin 3] Axe+Bodhi Coffin 4] Bodhi Axe+Coffin 5] Axe+Coffin Bodhi

Gabriel F

Maybe upgrade of hatchedman and divergence of Bulwark. He need something for this undead form more focused in solo play or less focused in undead legions to use with his armies.

Leaored

1st and 4th options have the wrong main atribute. 2nd has the arcane class that he can't choose. It can only be 3rd or 5th, my guess is that he will choose the 5th because it looks like it is closer to his path of life and death.

Anonymous

I think number 5 is the best option.

Gabriel F

Do class divergence remove old skill or change it? Is there a risk that the old classes skill will not be compatible with the new class pathways?

MacDB

options 3 + 5 are my choices, 4s not bad either

Gabriel F

Maybe the tribulation is how the system check if the user is worth using resources to change the skills for the new pathways.

MacDB

i believe the x1/x2/x3 means the attributes will get multiplied between the 3 groupings of nodes shown above

Gabriel F

Maybe the system will test his luck again.

Anonymous

I think 3 or 5, number 4 for Undead seems like army comander, he wanted to be more like solo fighter for his Undead form, since he won't lead Undead as General.

Anonymous

I like 4 it looks to me like it balances creation and destruction the best. He's going to top out all his attributes as it is so having balanced attributes is a good thing. 2, 3 and 5 are pure destruction, so bad choices for dealing with fragment of creation and destruction. I think 1 would be the coolest with portals and chains. Have a dimensional pocket to go into and heal up. Then emerge somewhere else. I can think of a bunch of cool stuff to do with 1, but 4 seems to be logical continuation of his path and he has no reason to leave the path.

Adrian Gorgey

Hmmm... So his current Arcane Path sacrifices Endurance in exchange for almost double the amount of strength, with a second class that nullifies the Endurance sacrifice. That would keep him at this level of Endurance for the rest of E-grade, which is a big decision, as so far his unnatural Endurance has arguably been a larger part of his success than even Strength. Seeing that it has such a disadvantage, I don't know if it's worth dealing out more damage if it requires sacrificing survivability. However, it's possible he could bridge the gap in Endurance by upgrading his two Dao Fragments, Bodhi and Coffin, in and Endurance direction. Then he could have his cake and eat it too. However, if he's determined not to pick his Arcane class, I think I have to agree with others that it seems like 5 is a good option.

Blaublue

None of the class options seem super exciting (or an obvious pick) - but it's quite hard, even with the upgraded information, to know what it'll be like going forward. I'd go with option 5 personally, having an Arcane Class seems most important for the Grade one is expecting to face a bottleneck on. Gaining 1000 extra points at E-Grade matters less when that is like 1 level at C-Grade which Zac will definitely reach

Henry Wartemberg

Option 1 Gatekeeper/ Warlord The living half (gatekeeper) seems almost like a mage/ controller class. Binding people with chains and Gates. Not really his fighting style. Last option (4) Option 2. Vessel of Destruction/ Nature’s Lament Creation through destruction seems like an ok path to get locked into longer term. But zeroing out Further endurance growth seems like a headache for Zac who isn’t a skilled fighter. The skill Avatar of Wrath seems like a potential issue when the shard starts to awaken again. Shared second option (2) Option 3 Edge of Arcadia / Fetters of Desolation Arcadia seems like a fairly similar to hatchetman path. Fetters seems a little more Controller with a good dose of Attack. Good option but seems to be moving away from the shield use concept a bit. Shared second option (2) Option 4 Gaia’s Eruption/ Wall of Bones Not enough strength or clear attack with these two. 3rd option (3) Option 5 Warmaster of Hectate/ Risen Asura A little ambiguous but both seem fairly balanced attribute wise. My pick

Bunny Waffles

I read that Undying Warlord description in Speedwagon's voice.

Luke Scheffe

I think that I prefer 1 and 4, as those seem to be the ones which are in line with his ideas of duality.

Craig

He basically has to pick a divergence from undying bulwark so that means 4 is out. The last hundred or so chapters have reiterated how poor a fit the class is for anything other than leading an army of undead. He also will probably stay with a melee brawler build rather than becoming a caster so that puts 1 out of the running to imo. The Arcane class seems cool, but we will see if he actually risks it. My bet is 3 is what he goes for. It upgrades his hatchet man class and also s gets the biggest spread of attributes while simultaneously keeping his emphasis on strength over both classes. After that the second best option seems like 5, for the same reason. Strength focus over both classes and keeping the focus on melee

Storyhunter

Going for the arcane class on two seems like it would imbalance everything but he was that way in the opposite direction for the whole road up to E so that's not quite the problem it could have been. Although 4 is also interesting being that it is an upgrade for both classes. It seems that for raw power 2 is best also it seems with that tomb reference in the description of the undead class it would work very well with his coffin dao. The issue is does he want to use her as a shield and keep his shield skills. everything else points to 2 being the most use going forward. only issue is that -11 endurance. He would be more focused on destruction. 4 and he keeps his current balance.

Kyle Aretae

Going along with the analysis: Zac has said more than once he doesn't want to be a tank. Zac has been cautioned against chasing an arcane path too early. Zac has directions he'd prefer to go in. The stats appear to be 22-24/level/class for an epic class, and 33 for the arcane class. In order of My opinion on likelihood: Option 5 gives him a strength-focused build: Str 27, End 11, Vit 7 Per paired level, and the classes sound more like the direction I think he wants to go in. Option 2 gives him a super-strength focused build Str 38, Agi 5, Wis 10 per paired level. He abandons tank, which I don't know he's up for all the way. Has arcane class. Don't like 2nd class. Option 3 is like option 5 -- deep str, but I'm not feeling it somehow Str 25, End 8, Vit 8, Wis 5 Second highest stat total, Pretty good -- but no e-rank, and just doesn't seem as good as #5 Option 1: Basically his current path End>Str> other Str 12, End 18, Vit 10, Wis 5 Too static. I think it's a solid choice, but not what Zac wants. Option 4 is a tank option Str 5, End 18, Vit 17, Wis 5 I like the class-names 2nd best, but Zac doesn' seem like he'd be willing to drop the Offense for this much defense.

Patrick C

I think 3 or 5, since the arcane class looks like a bit of a disaster.

Thenais

All options sux. I hope he rejects them and go commando on the undeads. He seriously needs to evolve his 3rd fragment

Anonymous

Since Zac's Daos are heavily biased towards Endurance and Vitality (2 of the 3 have those as primaries), and his Strength is already behind his Endurance, he needs Classes that give more Strength than Endurance. That knocks out options 1 and 4. Option 2 is the strongest, but it lacks balance. Too much destruction, wrath, horror and lament. That leaves options 3 and 5. Both emphasize strength, and neither seems terribly out of balance. But option 5 has a stronger life and death cycle theme than option 3, since five specifically mentions both "death" and "risen", and it also mentions a sacred tree which should go well with Bodhi. Option 5 is the best choice.

Patrick C

At least 5 is wrong it should be Axe+Bodhi & Coffin

Anonymous

Second option is interesting, I would assume the issue is that he wants to keep one class focused on creation and the other on oblivion to make sure his core wont become an issue. While a arcane class not centered on his ”cycle” that hes not sure about will providesome nice titles.

Anonymous

I see it coming down to 2 vs 3, with Zac leaning 3 but Karma pushing him to take the Arcane. 3 is a straightforward upgrade of his 2 classes, with the Human side being Bodhi and the Dragr side as Coffin, and then Axe working with both (see the first skills?). There is also the upside of the Draugr class being chain themed which will pair great with Love’s Bond. But then Arcane class’s description has so many flags in it that I can definitely see the System pushing it his way in the form of Karma or whatever.

Maniac000

Question, is Zac’s merit from beating the technocrat incursion already applied to these choices? Or can is it something he has to apply manually for something else?

seth dauer

Does he have double the number of nodes? Or does each perform double duty?

Anonymous

He does get free points for all his skills as well, so his endurance will go up through that regardless

Anonymous

What is static about 1? It's chains and portals. Grab a boss, portal to the boss chop him in 2. Stat's don't matter, and he gets a ton of free stats. Whatever he picks he'll need to upgrade race soon.

Anonymous

I'm leaning towards Option 5, because it begins path of merging of Zac's life and death classes.

Anonymous

The image is broken for me. Here is the link if anyone needs it https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/739378322844155966/761996011853185034/unknown.png

Thaabit Rivertree

I think he should go for option 3. Both are offensive and strength is his primary gain. Option 2 is interesting, and seems to capture his realization about creation through destruction, however it's also limiting. His endurance would stay the same due to his other class, but still... It's a bit early for Zac to crystallize his Dao/direction. Maybe he'll be able to further refine his idea or understanding of the dao to something a bit more powerful/primal.

Zoltan Miskolci

Base Attributes / Node??? That will be an absurd amount of luck at lvl 150 (+1225). It would make the Great Redeemer, who is D grade to find Earth because of his high luck even without the karmic leads. Are you sure it's increasing all base attributes and nut just the ones that the class should focus on?

PrimordialJay

I think the two classes make a cycle. Using life to bring death. Rising from rest to life.

Anonymous

It says "base attributes" so maybe luck is not a base attribute. It could mean the other 6 attributes, or as you suggest, the same attributes that the class boosts. But if it is linked to Class, then which of Zac's Classes would it use? I doubt he is getting double node bonuses. So I guess it goes to the 6 attributes which do not include luck.

Thaabit Rivertree

What does "Attribute Per Level (x1/x2/x3)" mean?

Augustus

I assume that as he passes lvl 100 and lvl 125 the attributes in the box will be doubled then tripled?

Anonymous

Option 5 abandons the path of Axe towards the path of War. And Zac likes Axe!

Talen Drake

My analysis shows Option 2 as the author's direction. That being said, I would choose 5 if it were me. Only option 4 can be completely eliminated based on Zac's personality. From most likely to least I would say: 2 - 54 pts per level 5 - 47 pts per level 3 - 46 pts per level 1 - 45 pts per level 4 - 45 pts per level (in the wrong stats) Zac is talking about how he doesn't want to lose points in Endurance. Based upon the stats, option 2 is trading Endurance for more Str, and the pair class nullifies the actual loss. Total gain is 7 more per level than option 5. That said, option 5 starts bringing his 2 classes into a merged path with a focus on war. Knowing he saw the war Dao inspiration, and that he needs to fight I am keeping some wishful hope alive for 5. At the same time Option 3 is taking him into 2 individual contributor roles, so in a way also relevant to Zac. The biggest problem with 2 is that the Endurance loss may multiply with advancement. Is so it is totally the wrong way to go. However, if it instead is an improvement as you advance, it could halve the loss which would make more sense, and make it a completely broken combination.

Han Pol

Can somebody remind me what Vitality was for exactly. Anyway, I think there are 4 things that should drive him. Linking creation and Destruction is important at one point or at least life and dead for the moment. But i guess it can be done with all classes and is further away in the future. Another thing was the general bit, as he Kinda is that but usually fight solo has his peers don't keep up that well. And it is Kinda in line with the bit he gained as insight from watching what the tower showed him as a version to improve his Dao. Then he has 3 dao fragments so far and should incoperate them all so he will need something still related to tree's. while the coffin and the axe seem more easily integrated. Lastly there is the question of the fighting Style and and his tools. and there he has no great speed, but is able to restrict his enemies endure attacks or nullify and reflect them with a shild and crush them with overwhelming brute force of the axe. while he will need his luck and wisdom to to shield his mind and karma I guess. I would say that leaves only a few sensible options basically 1 and 3 with 5winning out in the end. with 3 being the best so far, 1 having to little offense but great control and both classes being well balanced. But then he has no undead army so the undying warlord is kinda wasted. 2)Offense at the cost of defense better not also less contol 3 has the best overall combination, while we sadly know little about how much Bodi will be in the edge of arcadia class. As it seems more focused on the axe. while the undead class seems more focused on the chain, then on rebirth or the coffin so a bit hard to say. on the other hand the fetters of desolation seems to stand kinda alone, and with his army he can not really use the support abilites of the undead army, so and undead class that stands alone sounds quite helpful. 4 pure tank, better not....even if it overall seem to be a good fit with his dao but the synergy is weak 5 good offense. but a bit of a wild guess. how it will incorporate his shield or his ability to chain people down. also likely support ability as warmaster, while the asura class seems like pure destruction so no real shield there. So 3 or 5 seem like the best option personally I would guess that 3 is superior but 5 seems like a good fit as well. Overall I have to say I really like that it is a difficult choise and not like many such stories were it is, quite obvious what the best bet will be.

D

I guess 4 if he dosnt want any divergence? But it holds no strenght, or at least not much, so he'd need one option with divergence. I dont think he wants to leave the heatchman path, but now that he has a spirit tool that can be a shield... troublesome. Also: Whats up with vessel of destruction? Wont that be suicide at some point with -10 endurance per level? Oo

Joshua Little

Thanks for the chapter.

Tommy Littlefield

That bonus was for picking the class I don’t think he’d keep losing the points I could be wrong though and If that’s the case screw that he’d lose almost 1000 endurance through e-grade

Anonymous

The class options are paired? He can't choose option 1 for the hatchet man upgrade and option 5 for the undying bulwark?

Stylemys

Does the increase to base attributes include Luck? Or is the inclusion of Luck the difference between the use of “base attributes” versus “all stats” in the System prompts?

Stylemys

I actually think Karma will lean him towards option 3. [Love’s Bond] is highly reminiscent of Zac’s vision of the lotus from the Eight Calamity Titan projection with the exception of the chains that bind Alea’s coffin. The description of “bind them to you calamity” for Fetters of Destruction just seems so perfectly in tune with that.

Frardowin

Ok look at the divergence vs upgrade: The divergence look like they change the primary attribute that the skills draw on, or they change the dao aspect (5 is very clearly a dao change for hatchetman and udb) I think this is a indicator for the likely class choices. Zac wants 2 strength classes so he can double dip skill wise. He need to have all of his skills utilize strength. This knocks out option 2, second class is vit and wis, which is not something zac want to rely on for his attacks. Likewise 1 and 4 are also out since the skills wont be strength based for one of the classes in those options. The only possible choices that would make sense would be 3 or 5 since noth look like the skills use strength primarily for the skills.

Stylemys

I misread option #3 was Edge of Avalon instead of Edge of Arcadia at first and was immediately 100% certain that was the one. Referencing a mythic island from Arthurian legend just seem right on the nose. Especially since it means “isle of the fruit trees”. Arcadia isn’t nearly as indicative though. The description of Fetters of Destruction also seemed like a big clue as the creation of [Love’s Bond] is highly reminiscent of the vision of the Lotus Calamity that Zac had. Plus “bind them to you calamity. Sever their path. Emerge alone.” could easily be a clue as how to upgrade [Love’s Bond] too.

Anonymous

Correct. The author talked about it in the past. Since each class is a split of his achievements, dao, and anything else that goes into it, he can’t pick and choose class combos.

Jordan

At the bottom that table was completely blurred and distorted. Am I the only one who experienced this? Thanks

If he wants to continue down the same path of life and death Dao, option 4 is the only choice. If human side is life then he shouldnt be bring death or becoming death. If his Draugr is about death then idk if he should worry about it chaining him down. Also the fact that they are upgrades from current classes makes it safer to assume its the correctish path.

Arexio R.

Yeah but he doesn't want to be a tank-class which is what that choice would make him.

Gabriel F

Maybe that class is an option because he created a Spirit Tool following the unorthodox path.

2 exposition chapters in a row huh? 3 chapter tease before the mentioned evolution chapter. Next chapter he brushes his teeth, takes a shower, and then muses on his path in life. Why is this getting drawn out so much? Do it or don't do it.
