This is another one of those days where I'm mostly going to be ranting about something I'm dealing with in real life... so not too long ago, I was rearranging my work desk, which included putting away my combination printer/scanner, because it takes up a lot of space on my desk and I haven't used it in over 3 years. But then I had some stuff come up today where I needed to print something out for the first time in, y'know... years. So I had to dig out my printer, find the wires for it in my drawer full of miscellaneous wires that I'm pretty sure everyone has or will have at some point. And of course, the ink is empty... either because I printed a lot 3 years ago and just don't remember what it was, or because these things are designed to act like they're empty after a while because printer ink is probably the biggest scam the tech world has ever gotten away with. This leads to a trip to the only place I'm certain near my house that carries printer ink... the crappy Wal-Mart that is always crowded even though it's always dirty and disorganized, because I guess it's just in a good location so they don't have to actually keep the store in good shape to be profitable. All that said, I got lucky that the particular type of ink my printer needed was relatively cheap, which is nice because some of the ink cartridges they had for sale quite literally cost more than just buying a new printer. Anyway, now my desk is cramped and uncomfortable again, but hey... I printed out the single piece of paper I needed because some government office requires stuff to be physically mailed to them instead of setting up any kind of online system.
