Nina is one of those people who wants to always be too cool for anything... so she generally pretends to just hate everything. I don't think I've had her once casually express earnest excitement for anything. That character trait at first was just to explain why someone like her would be friends with a nerdy girl like Karen... she loves nerdy stuff too, but pretends to just be humoring her friends and makes fun of them in front of others.
