So, what the frick are these?

Hey everyone! So, yesterday i posted a tweet about these windows and door and i quickly found out, i have an habit of taking technical words for granted 🤣 I presented them as my "Parallax Shader" windows which many, rightfully, didn't instantly understand so let me show you what i mean by that!

A parallax shader in the gaming world means a shader that is simulating tridimensional depth with textures. What is happening on these windows then? A PICTURE of a room i created in the game is sliding around the glass of the door, reacting to your camera as you move around, giving you the illusion of depth, movement.

This technique is extensively used by the game in the cities of Britechester, San Myshuno and Del Sol Valley, given they're the most skyscraper-intensive cities and in general have a lot of exposed glass. Giving those windows a still texture would look terrible! So this shader helps with giving the world a bit more realism.

What can you do with these?

The easy answer is, whatever you want! I personally created them for creating fake shells of apartment buildings, like in the preview pictures. Instead of using real windows and having them look into an empty room, i'd much rather have the illusion of a filled and lived-in apartment! They also look great inside, if you maybe wanted to make a fake mall? An office building?

They come in a variety of different rooms and objects attached to the glass, so that you can have variation and realism in your buildings! This shader was extremely fun to explore and i'm glad i could finally make this set happen after years of wanting something similar to this. I've always been afraid of trying my hand at this but i'm so glad i did!

You can fetch them in-game by typing the words "Fake Window" or "littledica" in the in-game search box, or you can go to their category which is outdoors wall decorations (the icon of the flower box on the build mode menu).

Mind blown.

Would love to see this with faux walk-closets, faux pantries, and some outdoor scenes. So you could make a basement seem like it has windows looking out on small enclosed gardens or even just a neighborhood.
