I believe SK has abolished the death sentence. And even if it still exists, they never apply that anymore. Criminals who commit the most serious crimes like r-word, m***er, etc only get a few years in prison. The law system in the SK has been really bad if you read the articles recently.

That's why Koreans love the revenge kdramas lately. They really enjoy seeing the bad guys get sentenced to life in prison or the death punishment. They feel like they can only see justice in the shows. Moon Dong Eun from The Glory would never last that long if those things happened in real life, tbh
