I think it’s a good thing that all seasons of In The Soop (BTS, SVT & Wooga) have different locations cause it gives different vibe everytime. It also prevents unnecessary wars or hate towards groups for using same location saying this group do it first, this group did this, things like that.

2023-07-10 22:47:44 asian names are usually separate from the English name, as in it doesn't translate. it's usually an exception for koreans to have their English name to be the same as their Korean name - such as, jennie from blackpink. jennie (or jenny) is an English name, but her Korean name is also jennie. but she's a rare case. so joshua doesn't mean jisoo in English, and neither does jisoo mean joshua in korean. and blackpink's jisoo doesn't have an English name as far as i know, but her name wouldn't necessarily be joshua (unless she wants it to be lol). i can see how it gets confusing because both jisoo and joshua start with a "j" sound, so it sounds similar. so I'll give another example in svt - vernon's Korean name is hansol, which has no correlation and also doesn't translate. that being said, Chinese names DO translate into Korean names because they both come from the same roots (most asian languages, including Korean, come from the chinese language system). so the8's chinese name minghao does translate to myungho in Korean, and jun's chinese name junhui translates to junhwi in Korean. this applies the other way too: all Korean names can be translated into chinese. think of it this way - an English guy named jack would be called jacques in french because that's technically the same name. this is because both English and french come from latin roots and use the same alphabet. however, the same guy named jack wouldn't have a Korean name because english and Korean use different language systems. i hope this makes sense and clears up any future confusions about their names (my source is that i am asian Canadian lol and have both asian and english names). joshua can be shortened to josh or shua, similar to how Elizabeth can be shortened to liz or beth. you'll often hear the members calling joshua "shua hyung". I'm so sorry for leaving such a long comment. i hope it doesn't come off rude or anything. i just figured this might help you in the future when you hear about how they address each other. side note: cait your seventeen notebook is so cute! i love how organized you are and how up to date you are despite being a new carat. even though you just started going seventeen and in the soop, i can't wait for you to eventually dive into their music and their knowing bros episodes (i think they've been on 3 times, all really fun!) and i hope you guys will still check out the "super long guide to seventeen" even if you recognize all the members by now! it's a nice introduction to their discography and tells you a little bit about each member's talents and personalities with examples.
