The start of this season is kinda like back story of Gojo and Geto, it will help you to understand the relationship between them and the reason why geto turns into villain, and if this season gonna pull out the story of shibuya arc in the manga then yes they will get back to the present time again ^^ also the short haired girl (Ieiri Shoko) is not related to Nobara, she's the doctor who checks on Itadori's body when he's dead on s1.. and the guy who you call young Todo in the opening is actually Megumi's father ^^

This is not a prequel. The manga storyline went like this too so its basically a flashback. Like Rhyuu said, the girl isn't nobara. Also the guy who you said looks like too is named Toji Fushiguro/Zenin. He's related to Maki and is Megumi's dad. This part will be 5 episodes and when we're back to the present, it'll be 18 episodes. This season is gonna be crazy. Also the budget for this season definitely was upped thats why the animation looks cleaner.
