The guy you were asking about is the brother not friend. He has not gotten much screen time but yeah that his brother. And yes he was in its okay not to be okay Josh i completely understand, this drama is not for everyone its heavy business, money and investments related and as you guys said it has a slow build. Feel free to hang in there one or two more episodes then if its not for you then its understandable. I was like that with 2521 i had to just stop when it was halway episodes, as much as i loved the male and female lead i somehow just didnt vibe with it. I personally feel very invested in this drama as this is my first time watching this with yall and its been a while i have come across a serious drama like this one. And also the drama eventually picks up on the whole revenge plan that our main lead had in mind.

I can't say that it picks up....for me it even got slower...but who knows you might think otherwise. The popularity of this drama is a mystery for me, it's second highest rated drama of all time, but I still don't understand how that happened and it annoys me too, because I love Song Joongki. Especially after vincenzo I was really looking forward to his next work. When it comes to revenge dramas I think most exciting part is not knowing what each side will do or how will they avert the crisis. But because he already had lived through those years, he knows what's in the future, so it's easy for him to make decisions that will succeed, and that's why every move that he makes isn't really that impressive and exciting. Like his whole thing is having brains but I can't be like "wow how did he even thought of doing that"... obviously he thought of that since he knows what's in the future. There are many other things that I didn't like about this drama but I won't go too deep. On the other hand many people didn't like the ending but for me that was the best part. I suggest watching 2 more episodes and see if you're gonna enjoy it.

It's understandable if you guys drop it. Not every kdrama is gonna hit haha. No worries if you guys end up dropping it, it's a slow burn. If you guys are enjoying it tho and keep going I'll still watch along with you :) Oh no I wasn't saying you guys weren't gonna get what's going on, I'm just saying they talk a lot throughout the show in general. Like my brain hurts after every episode 😂 sorry if I offended y'all I didn't mean too

Imo It was huge in Korea because it went through Korean history so everyone was interested in how this show was gonna portray it. I agree with you tho, it's slooowww af haha

Of course, I admit that there may be likes or dislikes. I respect your choice :) I think this drama only gained popularity in Korea because it dealt with a big issue in Korean modern and contemporary history. The younger generation could see that this had happened past, and the older generation was happy to remember the past. And for two reasons, the drama was inspired by Korean conglomerates and overlapped with real-life anecdotes, creating many issues. So I think non-Korean people can enjoy it less Think. The business story was a little difficult at first, so it wasn't fun for me, but it became interesting that the episodes eventually led to a family succession fight. I think I will be able to understand the drama more after watching 2 more episodes.

I agree and at the same time disagree with some of the other comments. I mean if you're bored and don't enjoy this show as much then I guess you don't have to continue it. But I wanted to clarify something others mentioned. Yes the show was super popular domestically, Koreans obviously know about their history and events that are mentioned in the story and enjoy the portrayal but many non Korean comments here are saying that it's pretty much only loved so much for these reasons by Koreans and might be rather boring and confusing to non Koreans. I have watched 5 or 6 episodes and never really found myself bored. The problem is more with viewers (who aren't Korean) who barely have any knowledge of the history like yeah of course you're gonna be confused if you don't know much about Korea's history with military dictatorship, the IMF crisis, the so-called miracle of the Han river, chaebol families and conglomerates or even the influence of Seo Taiji and Boys etc when the show obviously was created for an audience who is familiar with these things. So in conclusion you definitely don't have to be Korean to enjoy it but you should have some basic knowledge of the things mentioned so you don't get confused. I understand that it can be difficult to understand at times so feel free to make your own decisions about whether or not you want to continue watching it but of course I hope you will!
