I think Taes big plot comes in like episodes 12-18, then he has a big significant part of the story with quite alot of lines

I feel sorry for Ban Ryu as well, having to deal with his other father (most families have 2 mothers due to men of the noble class having concubines) in his case I think his mother was divorced from the old man and his father being the 2nd husband but had a son (more value in boys). It hurts him the most to see how his father is treated, but he needs power to overcome the prejudices that his 1st father speaks off. You can tell he wants to take him down for his biological father’s sake…. Soo Ho and his Sister are typical brother and sister who love each other despite their bickering and sibling rivalry. They are so cute and endearing, can’t help but like them both. I love where the story is going especially with how the faceless King (Hyunshik) is accepting Sun Woo’s (SeoJun) Test Answer to interpreting his own ideas of the kind of King he wants to be without his mothers help. Ah Ro isn’t stupid, and with the little mis-spoken things by people she’s gonna guess the truth before she is actually told the whole truth. Seems her father and the Queen had a terrible back story for him to have thoughts of killing her and the Queen threatening him using his children as leverage., to get him to love her. (In the old days in all cultures Royalty married family members to keep the blood pure) within the nobles (High Society) like in this drama they keep going back and forth bone/true blood vs. common/lower class.

Hello, guys! Josh, could you please don't say that music is a such a problem in this kdrama so often. It's a little bit annoying and sometimes destroy the vibe and joy of watching it with you, guys. I hope that you don't consider it as I am being rude for asking that - English is not my native language, it's hard to find right words.

I think if you slightly change the genre that you view the drama, the music will make a bit more sense. even though it's centred around royal guards/warriors with tense moments and fighting, it's ultimately a cheesy, romantic, slightly older drama that's meant to be lighthearted. That's why the music is upbeat and mostly modern, sometimes OTT, and also why the script can seem a bit unlikely for the time it's set (also could just be down to slightly off translations in the subs) Whilst the music definitely surprised me at first, I found once I saw it in this way, it seemed less jarring and added to the over-dramatic, fun style of the show!
