I love the storyline, it creeps you Josh, but you need to remember they both met unbeknownst to their ties. True he knows the truth, being forced to play the part of Sun Woo her brother in order to save them from the Queen. She is of course feeling confused as she’d fallen for him since their first encounter in the village street and she’s a romantic, had him as a character in her Erotic stories. She doesn’t know how to react to him. He is trying to be careful not to step out of bounds as a brother. Everyone knows he is a peasant from outside the city. But he too had fallen for her just by he’s friend’s stories about his beautiful Sister, the of course he met her by chance and fell in love at first sight. Because the Josaen Era was built on Hierarchy, the young men of Hwarang are just being who and what they were taught by their fathers instead of being truth leaders and doing by what is good for others and not just for themselves. The Queen just sees them as hunting dogs lower than herself & the King . (She is vindictive and controlling) I love that the writer in the storyline is trying to convey to the viewer’s through how Sun Woo and Ji Dwi want to Change the World. I wonder How will they accomplish it with help of the other sons of diplomats. Every Society looks towards their youth for strength and leadership towards a better place world (their country Silla’s future.)

The Silla period was a country from 57 BC to 935 AD. The Joseon Dynasty was from 1392 to 1910. Hwatang is a story from the Silla period. At that time, there was actually hwarang, and now this drama is a fusion historical drama based on that content. In fact, the Silla period was famous for its splendor. And so are the relics that remain today. The Joseon Dynasty, which you know a lot now, is about 400 years after the Silla Dynasty. And... Korean dramas are usually aired twice a week, so there are times when the story comes out in odd times, but even times, the story continues right away from the previous one, so you can just watch it😁

Thanks for reacting to this. It's fun to watch with you. It does fluctuate between being really dramatic and really silly, but I think that's kind of its charm. I get the feeling that the cast really enjoyed themselves even if this wasn't their normal type of show. Also, gotta love the little glimpses of Tae💜

Just catching up on your Hwarang reactions. My god I forgot how annoying Ban Ryu was at the start. This drama goes from dramatic to comedy alot so that is fun to watch. Amazing reaction.
