Finally! An update to R20Converter! Wooooooooooo

This one was both fun to make and extremely frustrating. Two new big features here, the first one is the all new fancy UI that I am so happy and proud of! I also updated the video demo, which showcases the new UI (at 3:20)

The second big thing is the Mac build. That was the frustrating part, and it made me not want to touch a keyboard ever again in my life. But now it's done, I hope I won't have any more problems trying to get something to build a nice DMG/APP for Mac users in the future!

Apart from that, there are  all sorts of small fixes since the last release. While 0.8 was released in January, there were 13 small bugfix releases since then (I've just been updating the file in the same post), and the 3 major things in this release is that the world that is generated is using the database format from Foundry 0.6.5, which means no more world migration is done by Foundry when you first launch it, the new UI where a lot of time went and I hope you all like it, and the Mac bundle, which I'm sure will make many of you happy.

I was hoping to achieve two other major features for this release : Optimizing the asset images so they use less space (no duplicates) and are easier to import into The Forge, as well as fix support for non-dnd5e systems (Note: no character sheets would be converted, but you wouldn't need to manually edit the world.json and the actors wouldn't be broken anymore).

Unfortunately, the Mac release took way took long (3 full 12+ hour days of work rather than the couple of hours I was expecting it to take), so I didn't have time to do the other big features, but I'll get to them soon enough and hopefully it won't be too long before 0.9.x is released with those features.

Thank you all for the support and your patience.

I hope this works well for everybody, I welcome all feedback, so if you have any, feel free to comment!

Thanks,

KaKaRoTo

Update: Yep, we're already at 0.9.x because there were a few small bugs in the initial 0.9 release, so I've fixed them and updated the release accordingly.

Are there any plans to make this tool work with other game systems, or is 5e the only target system?

kakaroto

It does work with other systems, but it doesn't work for character sheets (actors), everything else gets converted just fine. Note that for the first 6 months of this tool, it wasn't even doing the dnd5e sheets either. Adding support for one sheet is a huge and very time consuming task, so I do not have any plans to add support for any additional character sheets. I do plan however on having it allow for system selection, so you don't have to manually edit the world.json to change the target system, and for non dnd5e, have it copy monsters from the compendiums if they are available, so those stats are at least accurate. That'll be the extent of the non-dn5e support.

After I import a campaign to Foundry, is there a way to update the map? If i remake them in Dungeondraft for example? Or would I need to change the thumbnail file and re-import?

kakaroto

You can update the map of course, you can click the 'configure scene' and change the background image of the image from there. If the map was placed as a tile, then simply switch to the Tiles layer right click on it and edit it to point to your new file.
