Good morning Ladies and Gentlemen.  I thought I'd share the story behind the picture I use on the A.P. Channel.  As you may know, I was deployed to Afghanistan where I served with an Infantry Platoon as a Forward Observer (Soldier who specializes in calling for indirect fire from a variety of platforms like, fixed winged aircraft, rotary aircraft, mortars, and howitzer cannons).

On the day this picture was taken my platoon was given the mission of providing security to an Explosives & Ordinance Team that were tasked with blowing up an enemy rocket that was aimed at one of our bases.  The only issue was that the rocket was located at the very top of a mountain that was at 10,500 feet above sea level.

Myself and a squad of Soldiers stripped down to only our body armor, firearms, ammunition, and water in order to be able to climb the mountain which was very steep and rocky.  To make a long story short, by the time that we had completed our mission I said to my platoon leader "Sir did you bring your camera" he said yes and I asked to have my picture taken as I did not want the setting sun to disappear.  I felt I'd worked too hard getting up that mountain to not have a picture to go with the story, lol.

Thank you all for stopping by and I hope you have a great and safe weekend.  God bless.

Please let me know if you would like me to share a few more pictures of my time in the military.
