What Tatsuya did against Lu Gunghu/"The man eating Tiger" was using Gram Dispersion (decomposition of magic) to erase all the magic he had cast on himself, including the "healing magic" that was keeping his guts from spilling out. Healing magic in Mahouka does't work in one go, it temporarily overwrites the state of someones body into a stable one giving the body time to heal and accelerating the healing process, it has to be kept active for quite some while/reapplied regularly until the injury is actually healed. E.g. remember when Mari was injured, she had multiple broken ribs but after a day she was back on her feet without any trouble in daily life, she just had to avoid strenuous exercise for 2 weeks, that's how long the actual healing process took while her ribs were held together by magic.
