Can't wait for you the reach the episodes 20 and above. The show gets so much better at that point. But I like the slice of life part from the first view episodes too, it's just something different and for some people it might be a bit boring.

For context, Hitman Reborn was originally intended to be a gag manga, which is why both the anime and manga start off with a more comedic and episodic tone. However, it eventually transitions into the traditional battle Shonen format around episode 19, 1-18 is commonly referred to as the "daily life arc," which is what you are currently watching. I enjoy the daily life arc as it provides a lot of light-hearted gags and fun moments. And even establishing foundational characterization for the cast . Unfortunately, in the anime, some of this characterization was omitted due to concerns about adapting darker themes into a Shonen anime during that time. One notable example is with the character Yamamoto, whose "character arc" got cut out, possibly to avoid adapting sensitive topics like the questioning of suicide at this time. The censorship of manga in shonen adaptions during this time was very common compared to now.
