While it is perfectly fine to start with this season with Baki... How can someone who hasn't watched the first two shows know they aren't missing out if they haven't watched that material to have formed an opinion? I understand it from a "this is where Baki started getting more notable and it's more likely to attract viewers" angle for sure, though. If you like it will enough you should consider watching the first two shows because there's a lot of dumb crazy shit you miss out on, as well as a lot of character development for Baki and a few other characters. At this point Baki 's character is largely solidified and while he does change it's much less compared to previous arcs. First two shows are basically his story of becoming a powerful fighter in this setting in ability and personality. Also regarding the animation, I'd argue the old series is better. It doesn't look as "clean" but the well-animated bits are just as good as this series' ones, and it doesn't have the extremely out of place CG that this series uses. Just my thoughts. Any Baki is good, though.

Yeah I agree. Not a fan the CGI in Baki but I too started with the Netflix Baki and then watched the original after that.
