This is the complete set of variants for this weeks maps. It includes Day, Night, Sandstorm, and Clean (unfurnished) versions of the maps.

Background

Like all of the temples in Samarahd, the Temple of Fire is not dedicated to any particular deity but is a place of worship for those who feel a particular draw to its power. Many of those are makers or creators, who feel kinship with the process of destruction and rebirth.

It is also common in the city for temples to provide community services. The fire temple is situated in the heart of the Sinaea District, where the artisans and craftspeople of the city live and work. It houses an enormous communal smelter and forge for those who work with metal and the ores mined from in and around Samarahd.

The forge is heated by a pool of molten rock below the temple. It is said that it was created during the great battle by the Emerald Dragon and has remained ever burning. For this reason, shrines to the dragon made of precious metals can be found throughout the temple and the district. Recently the shrines have been vandalised and the heat emanating from the forge has started to cool. Fire Warden Admani, the head of the temple, is seeking private investigators to uncover the perpetrators.

Design Notes

Fire Temple 02 Smelter

  • 01 – Temple  - A small open air place of worship. Many of the artisans and smiths stop by in the mornings to ask for divine guidance in their work.
  • 02 Molten Ore – The molten ore from the smelters converge in this central pool and is funnelled to the forge below
  • 03 Smelters – Anyone who wishes to make use of the communal forge must donate some raw materials to the smelter.
  • 04 Furnace – These smaller furnaces are available for use by anyone who doesn’t need the greater fires of the forge.
  • 05 Workshop & Storage A communal work area, often used by artisans just starting out in their craft and can’t yet afford their own workspace.
  • 06 Dragon Shrine– The main shrine to the dragon in the temple, hand crafted from precious metals. Many similar smaller shrines can be found throughout the district, usually near the fire canals that flow from the forge and help power the surrounding factories.

Fire Temple 01 Forge

  • 07 – Suspended Walkways  - Metal walkways suspended above the molten rock provide access to the forge. The heat is intense.
  • 08 Control Centre– Controls the conveyors and flow of the molten ore.
  • 09 Conveyor – The rotating conveyors transport the molten ore from the smelters above to where it is needed in the forge.
  • 10 Funnel – The molten ore from the smelters is fed into these large hoppers and then in turn funnels into the small stone vats attached to the conveyors.
  • 11 Small Moulds – The molten ore is poured into the moulds and sets before being taken back to the factories and workshops in the district. Different moulds can be attached depending on the needs of the community.
  • 12 Storage Vats- Excess molten ore is held here.
  • 13 Large Mould – Larger more complex shapes and structures are poured here.
  • 14 Meditation Chambers – Small private shrines to the dragon for meditation.

I think I can see Buzz and Woody about to meet their doom.

This is fantastic. I have two questions: is there a foundry version somewhere or am I just missing it? And will there be an earth and air version of these as well? Thanks!

Hi John, the foundry version isn't out yet, they are usually 1-2 weeks after the initial map release. I don't have plans for other elemental temples at the moment, but that's a cool idea to do in the future!
