Background

The Lockstar Hotel is owned by Reuben Barrera, who made his wealth in the first gold rush. The gold veins have since run dry, but there is still plenty of silver, and occasionally more exotic materials, to be found in the hills where Reuben still spends most of his time.

The day-to-day management of the hotel is overseen by Mistress Frieda, a mountain of a woman with a fastidious nature and a hatred for dirt and poor hygiene. The rooms at the Lockstar are open to anyone, so long as they are clean, or at least willing to take a bath before stepping foot in any of the well-kept rooms. Many of the Deadeye Saloon's more frequent patrons are permanently banned from the premises for this reason.

The hotel does good business with travellers and passing adventuring types however, and Frieda can seem almost motherly in her demeanour to those who pay up front and keep to her rules. Just make sure to wipe your boots before stepping in.

Design Notes

Lockstar Hotel 01 Lobby

  • 01 – Boardwalk – A few benches and tables are set outside for clients to sit and watch the world go by, or use as cover in case a fight breaks out. Staors on the Southern end lead up to 13
  • 02 – Lobby – Mistress Frieda sees all who enter and leave (at least by the door). So infrequently is she away from the desk that some say she never sleeps. Stairs lead up to 10
  • 03 – Canteen – Breakfast is served from 6-8am, no exceptions. Other meals can be ordered throughout the day at an additional cost.
  • 04 – Kitchen – Worked by Frieda’s quiet cousin, Hemlof.
  • 05 – Guest Rooms – A variety of rooms are available and can be adjusted on request.
  • 06 – Linen Closet
  • 07 – Bathrooms – The Lockstar is the only place in town that regularly has enough water to offer baths. Many townsfolk book their bath time in advance to make sure they get the water while it is still hot. Others choose to do without, you will quickly learn which are which.
  • 08 – Storage Shed
  • 09 – Privy – Entered via an external door, to keep the smell out.

Lockstar Hotel 2 Rooms

  • 10 – Guest Lounge – The large leather sofas have seen far more use than the bookshelves. Stairs lead down to 02
  • 11 – Guest Rooms
  • 12 – Ransacked Room – The door is kept locked. This rooms seems to have been torn apart as if searched, but not recently as dust has settled on everything. Frieda is normally so fastidious about cleanliness, so this seems odd.
  • 13 – Balcony. Stairs at the southern end lead down to 01
