Hello Travellers!

For this weeks map set I have completely remade my entire Ostenwold Starter Town set as a Snowy Winter version. Perfect for those heading into Eiselcross, Ten Towns or any other arctic setting, or just for a seasonal change for your players.

You can download all 337 maps, covering 14 different marked locations in Ostenwold using the links above.

Install the Free Foundry VTT Module with all of the walls and lights set up for each location HERE

You can also buy the complete set on my Roll20 marketplace HERE

Background

For generations, Ostenwold was a humble smattering of homes and farms along the river Ost, a quiet peaceful hamlet with little connection to the outside world. 30 years ago two retired adventurers, the human Horst Blackfoot and the elf Déulara Tauranis, chose to settle down and spend their hard earned gold on building The Sanguine Dawn Inn. At the time, this was the only safe resting place for travellers on the long march between civilised areas, and soon become a regular stopover for merchant caravans and travelling nobility.

Under Horst and Déularas stewardship, Ostenwold quickly grew. Horst set up the Eastwatch Garrison to keep the area free from bandits and predatory monsters, before handing over the reins and starting his own smithy. Déulara took on much of the work of government, until the Capital noticed the growing importance of the town and sent their own representative. Déulara returned to her day-to-day work at the Sanguine Dawn, but many of the townsfolk still look to her as the rightful leader and seek her council behind the back of the new mayor.

In the decades that have passed since Horst and Déulara's arrival, Ostenwold has seen explosive growth, great prosperity and peace, but in the last couple of years tensions between the original inhabitants and the newcomers have grown. Trust in the new garrison commander is low, monsters have been reported roaming the woods to the north-west, thefts have been reported in Dockside, and rumours of a smuggler's den intermingle with talk of grave robbers at the Church of the Everlight. Even the Ungrimsts, one of Ostenwold's oldest families, have stopped talking to each other and no one has heard from the wizard Dresden for quite some time.

This is so cool! Love getting all these winter variants. They look great. I don't think I've ever seen all the locations laid out together in a town before either, I've just been picking them up individually. Love it!

Alex Phipps

This is amazing Tom, Are you planning on doing a non winter version package like this also?

Alex Phipps

Hi Tom, Out of interest does the roll20 variant have light barriers setup? I think its worth the money to save me a hours worth of time faffing to get it setup in roll20.

tomcartos

Hi Alex, the bundle set does not have dynamic lighting set up, it's just the maps, so it saves you upload time and account storage space. DMDave has set up some of the buildings with DL in other individual packs, with more to come soon.

tomcartos

Yes, I will do! I also plan to do the same for other sets like the Big City once they are 'complete'

Where can I find a non-gridded version of these maps? BTW, I fell in love with this town and had to have it.

tomcartos

Hi Linda, The non-gridded versions are included in the download files.

PlutoHimself

As far as I can tell, the foundry module doesn't include these maps. It should just be a matter of setting the background image file of an Ostenwold module scene to the winter version, right?

tomcartos

Hi Pluto, that's right. At the moment you will need to update the map background image yourself. We will probably include the winter maps in a future re-release.

PlutoHimself

That's totally fine! Just wanted to make sure the intent was that they could be hotswapped. Thanks!
