For a quick gallery overview of my maps, I have a Pinterest board exhibiting all of the free versions HERE

Into The Wilds - Random Encounter Maps

These are more generic random encounter maps for when the party is on the road, or you need something quick for an unexpected battle. Themed by region or biome.

Ostenwold - European Style Starter Town

This set features all of the buildings you need for your 'starter town', somewhere the intrepid heroes can safely retire to after their first taste of adventuring for some down time, shopping and role play. At least that's what you let them think...

Dorran - The Big City

After venturing out into the world, our heroes will eventually find themselves drawn towards the Big City. Whether seeking work, fame, knowledge, riches, glory or just a little retail therapy, there is something for everyone.

Iido - Feudal Japan Inspired Town

This East Asian inspired town may at first seem like a quiet peaceful settlement, nestled between the mountains and the sea, but bubbling below the surface is a widening chasm between the townsfolk and their new Daimyo. Whispers of rebellion and the faint smell of smoke linger in the air.

Includes Peasant Home, Farmers' House, General Store, Eta Village, Samurai Home, Roadside Storehouse, Tea House, Geisha Residence, Pagoda, Daimyo's Castle & Town Map.

Driftwood - The Frontier

Life is hard out on the fringes of civilisation, but that hardness both attracts and builds a certain kind of person, a certain kind of people. Exploration and innovation guide those pioneers seeking a new life out here on the edge, free from the strictures of society, but it is not without its own dangers.

Samarahd - The Desert City

Nestled at the base of a solitary mountain, a small group of sparkling green oases are protected from the raging sandstorms that plague the region. In the past, it was said that an emerald dragon would appear to those who were lost amongst the sands and guide them here.

Bharzul - The Mountain City

The dwarves have spent centuries perfecting their methods of defence. While visitors are permitted if they can make the journey, particularly for trade, the native dwarves and their kin almost never leave. They have watched civilisation completely crumble around them twice in their history and know that their impenetrable citadel is all that saved them from the same fate.

Ruin & Rebuild

A collection of ruined and un-ruined variants of the same locations. Give your players a chance to find an abandoned structure and rebuild it as a base, or alternatively find a beautiful location and burn it to the ground with fireballs.

Ancient Worlds

Every new civilisation is built upon the bones of the one that came before.  Delve deep enough and you might just find some remnants of these long forgotten places. Ancient ruins, antiquated temples and  abandoned kingdoms are surprisingly prevalent if you look hard enough.

Distant Shores

The world is a rich and diverse place with numerous cultures and races inhabiting it.  By travelling to every corner of the world and spending time amongst the different peoples that call it home, you will open your eyes and mind to countless possibilities.

The High Seas

The world is more water than land, but much of it remains unexplored or at least unknown to most. Those lucky few who get to experience life on the seas know both the beauty and the peril that comes from such an existence.

Crossing the Planes

The material plane is just one of many, and by most accounts the least interesting. Those with an inquisitive mind and daring nature may seek out the places where it crosses close enough to the other planes of existence and take the leap.

Hideouts & Lairs

Whether man or beast, all creatures need a pace to rest their head. You may think that approaching them in such a place would be a good opportunity to catch them unawares, but don't forget that they will have the home advantage.

every time I see something you commission or create I wish I had more money to spend or the talent to create. The things that you show us are always amazing.

Marc Hutsebaut

I’m posting this on the pages of every Patreon I support. Sorry about that. I hope some creator (or patron) has the clout or ultimate tip to solve my problem. I have tried every troubleshooting tip in the book, as far as I can tell. Roughly a month ago, I stopped getting all mails from the Patreon domain. I can still access my account and settings, no problem. Starting two weeks ago, I have contacted support via the form several times, and once even had an automated reply coming through. I have tried changing my email address to my gmail one, but no verification mails came through to that one either. I have since subscribed to yet another Patreon, nothing came through. Now, I could manually check my feed a few times a day, which I now do religiously, but what about direct messages from creators, payment messages etc. In short, I’m completely stumped and frustrated. Thanks for any help or advice (outside the regular check Spam, Provider, contact support etc)

tomcartos

The only thing I can think of is have you checked to see if your email notification settings have changed. I have a short post about this here - https://www.patreon.com/posts/patreon-lpt-you-41714442 As an aside, mass posting the same comment to multiple patreon pages is likely to get your account flagged and possibly blocked for spam, so I'd advise against doing that.

Marc Hutsebaut

Thanks, Tom. Getting blocked for spam would be roughly what I'm going through now, though ;), but you're right. I'm just trying to get someone's attention, as support seems non-existent currently. And those settings were one of the first things I looked at.

The Emberforge

Every time I try to download something from Myairbridge, it inevitably gets stuck somewhere along the way. I'm trying to download the Dungeondraft mega pack and it's stuck at 28%. I tried just downloading one pack, and it got stuck at 80%. I always have this issue with Myairbridge

tomcartos

Hi Emberforge! Most likely what is happening is that your connection is timing out during the download. The DD MegaPack is very large, so if you have a slower internet connection that may be the problem.

Mark Sim

Hey Tom; If you want I could convert your adventures to Savage Worlds or Pathfinder for Savage Worlds. I've done a few of those for AAW Games and, of course, my own games.

2023-08-14 01:16:10 Is anyone else having problems downloading .png files? A fair number of the transparent tiles and assets are only downloading ad lower resolution .jpg files with a black background of irregular discolorations. It is happening on multiple devices for me, so I am trying to find out if this is this happening to anyone else.

A Conspiracy of Ravens

Which files in particular? I'll go and check them out directly. Previously I haven't had problems, but it could be something recent.

Iksralos

Hi Tom, Thanks for all the great works ! I just had a question : Is there a possibility to import your maps directly in dungeondraft ? I do it with the assets but if i could do it directly with the maps it would be awesome !

tomcartos

Hi Solarski, I don't make my maps in DungeonDraft, so there is no way to import them in a way that is editable. However you can import them as an underlay base image and then add assets on top of that to customise them.

Lucia Blanco

"Your work is incredible, Tom, and I wanted to congratulate you for it. That's why I keep contributing to your project. I was wondering if you could create a package of small Greek-style houses for less affluent people (lower-class neighborhood). It would be impressive. And some shops that are related to that Greek or Roman era." I would be willing to pay a premium for that package.

Nathan Seminchuk

Hey Tom, new to your patreon and had a question regarding your tiers: When it says "Virtual Tabletop and Print optimised files so you can play anywhere." does that mean it's for only online purposes? Edit: asking cause I DM in person and wanted to know if it's possible to use the maps for in person sessions.

tomcartos

Hi Nathan, I offer Print and VTT versions of my maps. Print files are 300dpi PDFs meant for printing, VTT are 140dpi JPEGs meant for use on VTTs. There is more info in my FAW here - https://www.tomcartos.com/faq

tomcartos

Print versions are 300dpi PDFs, they are higher resolution so better for printing, but the file sizes are large. VTT versions are 140dpi JPEGs, slightly lower resolution but smaller file sizes so they work better on Virtual Tabletops.

tomcartos

Hi William! I know I'm really sorry. I gave a heads up in the 'New Patreon Tier' post yesterday. Unfortunately Patreon doesn't let you turn off email notifications for posts. I pushed them all through in one go to get it out of the way quickly. All done now.

William Stewart

Yeah I just read your email must have missed it lol all good sir thanks for the heads up

Violet_Valkyrie

The Shores of Shadow by DMDave - 5th Level One-Shot is a bad link. it takes me to a google search for figure drawing.

tomcartos

Haha thanks for letting me know, definitely my favourite broken link report so far. Should be fixed now.

Eric Ishii Eckhardt

This reorganized library is very helpful. Thanks!

Darin Foster

I get the organization IDEA, but I have to go through a LOT of links to get to actually download anything. Something that helps with bulk downloads would be appreciated.

tomcartos

Hi Darin, I am working in complete bundle sets for finished series, like I have done with the 'Into the Wilds' set and 'Ostenwold Winter Set' . It takes a bit of balance to not make the packs too large as there is a lot of content!

Chromie

Stupid question but is there anyway to download EVERYTHING from my tier and below at once?

tomcartos

Hi Chromie, I'm afraid not. There's more than 500gb of content, so it wouldn't be possible to make it all downloadable in one go. I have bundled some of the 'finished' sets like the Into the Wilds themes, and the Ostenwold Winter set. I'll do some more of these soon. The best thing to do is familiarise yourself with my content, and then just download it as you need it, that way you don't need to store it all yourself. None of it is going anywhere, I promise!

Tillerz

Hi Tom, suggestion for a set: Gnome Workshop. That's an organization in my world and it has a large compound with everything you'd expect from a group of gnomes that's experimenting with steam, machines and magic... impact crater, shack with stuff, small forget, broken machines all over... something like that.

Giannis Laliotis

Hi Tom, I am looking to build a custom dungeon from you assets. I can find almost all the "standalone" assets I need such as tables, statues, etc, but I cannot find generic dungeon tiles to generate the background. Are these somewhere? Empty corridors, empty rooms, etc?

tomcartos

Hi Giannis, I haven't done many of these yet, but will do so if the 'Modular Map Packs' gets chosen in a future theme poll. For now I have some floor tiles in these packs: https://www.patreon.com/posts/bonus-random-32505570 https://www.patreon.com/posts/cultists-temple-30749854 and some pre-made walls/rooms in these packs: https://www.patreon.com/posts/city-sewers-mode-31258683 https://www.patreon.com/posts/midhsommar-mode-31563497

Giannis Laliotis

Hi Tom, thanks a lot! Some of them are great, mainly those from the sewer pack. Hard to find since in my local drive these are nested in folders or even left zipped. I will try them out, see how well they can fit with one another. I wonder if there is a tool out there that allows us to search through your assets. Something like the Roll20 marketplace search function (I use it sometimes to find some of your staff, although I stopped using Roll20 in favor of FoundryVTT)

tomcartos

No problem. I have recently tried to be much better at tagging my asset packs on patreon, so you can try the search function at the top of the page, but I will think about better ways to organise these in the future.

Alex Phipps

Do you use DungeonDraft Tom has some of his assets as DD packs. Mix with the floor stuff as default its very quick to knock stuff up.

Al Yen

Nice idea! Actually I don't need such a map, but it sounds so interesting, that I would put it in some of my adventures or even build one around this. I love it!

Marcos Machado

Hi Tom, just a double-check. Asset Library description says all assets are in Map Library. If I download the Map Library I don't need to download the Asset Library links

tomcartos

Hi Marcos, all the 'Builder' tier creation mode packs in the map library include the assets that come with those sets. These are the ones listed under 'Weekly Themes Asset Packs' and 'Town/City Map Assets' in the asset library. The only ones not included in the Map library links are the free asset packs, and the 'Patron Request' asset packs.

Soul

Hi Tom, quick question. Adventurer's Guild, Mages College and Palace of the Emperor belong to any category of Map Library?

MikeT

Hi Tom. Probably a daft question that is probably outside your remit, but I recently started using Forge vtt. Do I need to repurchase the maps through the bazaar to use them through Forge? I tried linking my patreon account, but it doesn't seem to help, and I can't see a way to install modules manually anymore.

tomcartos

Hi Mike, Kakaroto had temporarily disabled the feature where you can install modules directly through the bazaar as a patron. This is something we are discussing bringing back, but there are a few complex issues to overcome. For the time being you can use the Manifest URLs from the Patreon posts instead. They are the same as those used on the bazaar. You do not need to repurchase them.

Chris Jenkins

Hi Tom - Love this post, it's insanely wonderful and helpful as I'm preparing for a new campaign! I might be missing them, but for each of the location map sets, is there a single dropbox folder with everything included? For example, Ostenwald has a winter bundle dropbox with everything in it, but I don't see one of the same for the "regular" version. Does this exist?

Heather

Hey Tom, I think something's glitched out with your Dropbox - all of the download links I've tried so far are down.

tomcartos

Thanks for letting me know. I have posted an update about this here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/49095850

tomcartos

Thanks for letting me know. I have posted an update about this here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/49095850

Heather

Glad to see you fixing it so quickly, but man, fucking Dropbox! Might be an idea to transition future releases to a different platform if this ever happens again - though I suppose it's brilliant that you as a creator are getting so many downloads, hah.

Rob Cantermen

Love the new attached zips, it makes things much easier.

Cyd_LaGoblin

Is there a bundle with map assets to make dungeons? Like the modular sewers assets?

Sam Fahnle

Hi, is there a way to access everything in bulk, rather than clicking through the links?

tomcartos

Hi Sam, not at the moment as there is too much content to be able to download in one go (and I don't want to encourage piracy of my work if I can help it). I am working on a better solution though.

Sam Fahnle

Thanks Tom, that makes sense! Love all your work - it's just taking a while to download it all :)

Bard-A-Bear

I am looking for a cocoon-like asset. Is there one anywhere?

tomcartos

Not currently, but you can add suggestions to the Asset Suggestion Post: https://www.patreon.com/posts/39859812

Matt Carlson

Did Tom make the map for DM Dave's Crawler Chasm map? He's credited for maps but I can't seem to find one that matches. (It looks like DM Dave probably made some adjustments to one of Tom's maps... (One of my pet peeves of adventure creators is when they mention they're using maps from a specific Patreon creator, but never mention which map it is... then I have to sort through everything to find it...)

2022-02-04 15:14:08 Hi Matt, The Chasm Crawler maps are in the Into the Wilds Underdark set: https://www.patreon.com/posts/39896518 I think it's 'The Pit', 'Darklake Depths', & 'Forgotten Ruins' (Clean Version)

Oooh, trixy... I hadn't thought of digging through the ItW stuff...

Bard-A-Bear

Any outdoor market assets? I am mainly looking for like merchant tents/booths

tomcartos

Yes, you can find them in the Market Asset Pack: https://www.patreon.com/posts/market-square-48-30158566

Patrick F Marinelli

So it's been some time since I've gone through and updated my collection of your stuff. It appears that you have switched to a new hosting service and have changed the file names of all the items (Used to be labeled Tier 1 and Tier 2, to just Print and VTT). Is there an easy way to bulk download maps and VTT items? Or should I just got one by one and maybe consider re-downloading the whole collection again with the new file naming system?

tomcartos

Hi Patrick, I wrote a post here on how to use the new MyAirBridge cloud host: https://www.patreon.com/posts/49278189 (also linked at the top of this post) The files are still named and organised in the same way as before by me, but dropbox just named them in a different way if you mass downloaded them. I will be releasing some bundle packs next month that I am currently organising as part of my 2 year anniversary revamp. If you can wait until then it will make mass downloading of the newer content much simpler for you.

Bard-A-Bear

Suggestion, maybe it already exits... Airbridge link with all the map/assets folders. Looking through the posts feels a bit tedious

Dan Rux

Thank you, I am definitely looking forward to that!

Beadan

Does the Forgemaster not have access to the Adventure Tier content? For example, I can't access "Asset Suggestions (Adventurer+)". Is that expected?

tomcartos

HI Beadan, yes you do have access to all content at tiers below yours. I had just missed out that particular post when updating permissions. Unfortunately Patreon requires creators to manually add permissions to every single past post when adding new tiers. Let me know if you find any others I missed.

Beadan

Ah easy. Will do Tom. Thanks, and keep up the great work :)

tomcartos

Hi Oliver, I released the free version early by mistake. All versions will be available in an hour or two

Stuart Henry

Any chance of getting or are there maps with transparencies for easier compatibility with Levels in Foundry?

tomcartos

All of my newer maps (from the last year or so) have transparent variants for Adventurer tiers and above when relevant. These are also included in the newer Foundry modules as tiles for Forgemaster Patrons.

Stuart Henry

Thank you for the reply. I found what you are talking about. Looks like it's back to photoshop for the rest.

Marcos Machado

Hello Tom, Do you plan to have textures for walls, doors, windows when 3D module for foundry started to be more popular?

tomcartos

Hi Marcos, I am planning to do more textures this year, but they will be primarily top down rather than for 3D use. I recommend checking out textures.com if that is what you are looking for.

Will Henson

Tom do you make any brushes

tomcartos

I make a few situation specific brushed when I can't find one that works for me. I haven't released any though.

Brad Thomson

I search your posts but I could not find one so IF you are taking suggestions I think you could design a really good cemetery.

Joel Martensson

Best thing i ever done is becoming one of toms patreons thease maps are 100 out of 10. Thanks Tom!!!

Adrianimation

Hoping someone can help me out. I have downloaded the Dungeondraft Megapack, I know that I have the floors installed because I can see them in the Pattern Shape Tool, but I can't access them with the Building Tool. Is this just the way it has been made or is there a workaround I don't know about?

tomcartos

Hi! For questions about the DungeonDraft pack, best thing to do is message Moulk on our Discord server, he is the resident DD expert.

Erica Lea

I agree- they're pretty much the maps I end up using 95 percent of the time.

Jennifer Fodor

Hello, had my dungeondraft on another computer with these awesome art packs. Got a new computer and so I tried to set up this stuff on there and it seems i am missing a TON of stuff that says i have it in the tag section but they dont show up in the library. Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

tomcartos

Hi Jennifer, best person to ask is Moulk on our Discord Server. he is the resident DD expert. https://discord.gg/GGe2VwxMqx

Durandal

What are the odds of, in the future, Adventurer Tier getting access to JUST the maps as importable .json files in addition to the entire modules? I love the maps, but I run PF2E and have no use for 5E modules.

tomcartos

Hi Durandal, json files for the maps are available as part of my Forgemaster tier.

João Leite

Thank you for organizing all your content on an easy and quick way to get all of it. It helps A LOT. I love your art, it is detailed and realistic, without losing the wonder of fantasy.

Brian Gunning

Hi Tom, thank you so much for organizing all of your maps and assets into one place, it's super helpful and your library is amazing! I saw you do asset bundles for maps, have you put any thought into making asset bundles for spell effects? Balls of fire, clouds of poisonous smoke, streaks of lightning, etc?

tomcartos

I've tried a few of these in the past but not been happy with the result, but its something I want to have another go at

Xandria

I haven't been here in a while because my life went off the rails in terms of me lacking time to even breathe (jk, but feels like it). I LOVE LOVE LOVE your website. It makes it so much easier to find things. You are so professional.

tomcartos

Great to hear from you Xandria, I hope you are doing well! Thanks for your kind words about the website, I'm glad it's useful. I have plans to add more to it as well when I have time.

MagicOriole

Where is the valley of tombs in realtions to Samarahd? Don't see it on the map key and was just curious. Thanks for everything you do, Tom!

tomcartos

Hi Jon, The entrance to the valley is number 24 on the map, on the east side about 2/3rds of the way up
