Between the lower and upper class areas of the town is the 'cultural district' of Iido. Calling it a district may be somewhat grandiose as it comprises mainly of two notable buildings, the Tea House and Geisha Residence, both owned by the venerable Madame Hiketsu.
Frequented by the nobles and more wealthy merchants and farmers, these establishments are among the few locations that both classes might patronise, and so Madame Hiketsu is able to garner many secrets from both sides. It is whispered that after the Daimyo, Madame Hiketsu holds more power than anyone else in the region due to the knowledge she holds.
Both Takano and Katamori are aware of this, and wish to persuade the Madame to lend her network of informants and her information to their cause, but she has yet to be persuaded by either, preferring to remain neutral and consolidate her own power. She also has problems of her own to deal with, one of her workers has been stealing from her and she cannot fathom which. If a party of newcomers were to offer aid, they may be able to push her allegiance in a direction of their choosing.

This is the third set in a short series of map sets that will form an entire Feudal Eastern Asian inspired town. This could be an alternative 'Starter Town' to the more european inspired Ostenwold set, or be placed anywhere in your campaign where you want to provide a different flavour or cultural experience. These maps were created as a commission for an L5R campaign, and the client has kindly allowed me to share them with you.
Use the link at the top of this post to download the day, night & snow variants of the map set in Print and/or VTT format.
