This is the first set of the new 'Into the Wilds' map series and to kick things off I am going to be releasing two maps this week and every week this month! The theme chosen in the poll was 'Rural' so we start off with two classic fantasy TTRPG scenarios. Shortly after leaving town via the road the party are likely to come across at least one of these situations.

In 'Ambush' the path sinks down between two outcrops for 100ft or so, experienced adventurers will recognise the danger in this and go around, but newer more naive travellers, or those burdened by carts or beasts of burden may pass through. Will the bandits hiding in the bushes above surprise the party, or will the party be able to make use of the the advantageous terrain themselves?

The 'Crossroads' mark a point where two or more groups are likely to meet, and where decisions must be made. Simple choices like which path to take, or who to travel with, may have world shattering consequences later on.

Use the link at the top of this post to download all variants of these maps in Print and/or VTT format.

Really loving the crossroads map!

Maybe, at some point, you can also add some assets that bring something unusual to an ambush site or allow a random effect of some kind.

Hi Mark, There are a few assets in my 'Random Encounters' pack that could be useful, such as a fallen tree, boulder piles and barricades to change the battlefield. Let me know if you have any other ideas for assets though.

Love the maps I can use for any campaign / random encounters, these are great!

Love these maps! Would really like to get more of this kind

These types of maps are always my favorite. The "Deus ex Machina" type maps that are made for final showdowns are cool and all, but they typically only have a single use. These types of maps on the other hand, will typically always have a place in a campaign and you can use them repeatedly. Once again, awesome work!

Thanks BW, I'm enjoying making these so there will be lots more coming!
