Stories of a small floating island, topped by a glowing dome and speeding across the sky, are told in villages and towns all across the planet. It has many names in many languages, but the most common is Inys Lloeren. This fragment of rock is all that remains of a once majestic floating city of mages that circumnavigated the planet, miles above the rest of civilisation. A civil war fought in the clouds destroyed the ancient magics holding the city aloft, and it crumbled and fell in to the seas. 

The magic that maintains the protective dome and flight of the island is a small remnant of the lost arts that allowed such a construct to exist, and arcane practitioners seeking such knowledge have tried to land on the island in the past to uncover some of these mysteries. Unfortunately none have survived the attempt without swiftly fleeing, the magical field atop the island prevents any entry from above and the only way in is to traverse the dangerous interior of the rock. 

Over time the undirected magic has warped and corrupted, seeping into the stone and absorbing into the water droplets pulled from the air. This in turn has fed the organisms living within the tunnels and twisted them. It is even said that the rock itself comes to life to guard against intruders. A self-filling pool of this water, known as the Everspring, has collected at the base of the caverns. What gifts or curses could it provide for one brave of foolish enough to drink from it?
