GenCon 2024

Hey everyone!

I'm currently at GenCon in Indianapolis, and will be away until August 7th, so may be slow replying to any messages until then.

Castles, Forts & Keeps

Relms Keep

Relm’s Keep was first constructed by the Men of Bondor during the second age, although it was later gifted to the horse lords of Brohan. During the long winter, Relm Rammerhand and a contingent of Brohirrim took shelter in the fort, adding the tower and outer wall. The keep was renamed in Relm’s honour. In later years King Pheoden of Brohan would lead his people to Relm’s Keep to save them from the armies of Isenbard and the Wizard Haruman……

Ice Hag Lair

Vivette was once a regular woman, perhaps a little more intelligent than those around her but for the most part very ordinary. She had a family, her husband and young daughter, and after one of the harsher winters they decided to move to warmer climes. They packed up their belongings and hired a guide to lead them safely through the mountain pass.

The guide however betrayed them. While crossing one of the narrow bridges he grabbed Vivette’s daughter, holding a knife to her throat and demanded they let him take the horse and wagon with all their worldly possessions. Vivette and her husband gave in, handing the reins over but the guide slit the young girls throat anyway, casting her small lifeless body into the raging waters below. In her grief and fury Vivette hacked through the ropes holding up the bridge, sending all of them plunging into the icy river.

Vivette awoke sometime later, unsure how she was alive. The bodies of the guide and her family were nowhere to be seen. She dragged herself into a cave in the side of the gorge and realised she wasn’t even cold. She simply wished to die, following her husband and daughter into the afterlife, but some power kept her alive no matter what she tried.

Decades or perhaps centuries later, Vivette is still in that same cave. She is unrecognisable now, barely even human. Her grief and loneliness drove her mad it seems. Now she spends her time setting traps on the bridges above and sits watching and waiting for her victims to fall into the river. Those that survive are turned into statues of ice, and become part of her new ‘family’.

Into the Wilds

Fire Plane 01

Wasteland - Most of the Plane of Fire is a barren wasteland. The extreme heat burns anything without protection almost instantly. For those who can withstand the heat, the countless miles of endless nothingness can lead to madness.
Molten River - The entire plane sits on a sea of molten rock, with a thin crust forming in some areas. Regular seismic activity can break this crust with little warning creating small islands of land scattered between a maze of deadly rivers.
Fire Portal - The unstable nature of the plane of fire leads to many inter planar rifts opening up. Some are known about and their locations and behaviours mapped, but many are not. It is wise to steer clear of these chaotic portals. As dangerous as the fire plane, is there could be something worse on the other side waiting to come through.
Lava Fall - This promontory overlooks a sea of lava. It seems some god or figure was once worshipped here, but who or what is unclear.

Pirate Fort Exterior Scene

This small tropical island appears unassuming on the map, showing up as barely a speck, but its location along a key shipping route combined with its large, protected bay has made it incredibly valuable.

In a matter of only a few years a thriving town has appeared, as well as several large estates, farmland and perhaps most importantly of all, the Fort that overlooks the bay entrance, protecting it from rival political factions and pirates. Whoever controls the island controls all the trade that passes through, and the commission that comes with it.

However, a few weeks ago the fort was taken in a sudden unexpected skirmish by a well-trained group of pirates. They are currently holed up inside, firing at any who approach by land or sea. They have sent their demands, effectively holding the bay to ransom. Unless all current and future trade fees are handed over to them, they will sink any ships attempting to enter the bay. Negotiations are at a stalemate, with neither side willing to give ground and trade ships are waiting out of range until a peace is made, unable to offload their cargo.

The trade council are desperately seeking aid from outsiders. Their own military force was greatly reduced during the initial raid on the fort, while the trade ships are unwilling to risk their own soldiers and happy to wait out the situation to deal with the victors. There is also a growing fear that sending in a large-scale attack would cause the pirates to start firing on the town itself.

Chimera Chaos

Concussive Crown for 5e & PF2E

Taken from a large beast and resized to fit for others, this imposing, dome-shaped helmet has seen its fair share of use. Covered in scratches, dents, and divots it seems that this helmet has been put through its paces in battle already. The metal that this helm was constructed from is especially durable but not so heavy as to be uncomfortable. Two large ram’s horns protrude from the top making an imposing impression on those who would stand against its wearer.
