This months Into the Wilds collection is a collaboration with 'Why Slay Dragons when you could be FISHING' from IO Publishing. 'Why Slay Dragons' is a comprehensive Fishing ruleset compatible with 5e that includes new races, subclasses, magic items, and even MORE fishing tables.

We put together a couple of free sample fishing adventures for you all to try out:

  • The first is a relatively low DC encounter set at the Lakeside Camp which you can get for free from Tom Cartos HERE

  • The second is a more difficult encounter set at the Fishing Shack which you can get from IO publishing for free HERE

If you enjoy these free packets, you can get the full PDF from the IO Publishing website or from their Patreon which also offers MP3s of livestreamed campaigns plus plenty of 5e TTRPG content - such as Magic Items, Subclasses, Races, Creature Stat Blocks, Rulesets and more.

Into the Wilds - Gone Fishing

This is the free set of this months 'Into The Wilds' maps. The Into the Wilds maps are intended to be simpler & more generic than my regular sets and are perfect to drop in for random encounters when on the road or for when the party takes an unexpected turn and you want to be prepared. They are also completely free! Patrons get access to high resolution versions and extra variants.

  • Patrons can access the complete bundle HERE which includes higher resolution, un-watermarked files and additional map variants such as Night, Clean, Simple, & Tile.

  • Adventurer Tier Patrons and above can vote for next months Into the Wilds theme HERE

  • Lakeside Camp - This picturesque camping spot seems ideal for a nights rest, or maybe even a few. It seems strange that is not more commonly used, especially with the fantastic fishing on offer. I doubt it has anything to do with the enormous shadow below the water in the centre of the lake.

  • City Pier - The sound of Fishmongers shouting their fresh wares is almost enough to drown out the ambient rush of the city. This is a favourite fishing spot for amateurs and professionals alike, and the various stalls and shops set up nearby will sell everything you need and buy anything you catch.

  • Fishing Boat - This vessel used to go out every day to catch fish commercially. Now, just like its owner, its a little past its prime and not quite as fast as it used to be. Instead it is hired out to groups and tourists to do a little sea fishing in some of the best fishing spots along the coast. It even has diving gear for those brave enough.

  • Fishing Shack - This shack out in the wetlands is hard to find, but has some of the best fishing equipment available. The swamp outside even boasts some unique fish to catch, but like everything in the area, they can be surprisingly dangerous if not taken seriously.

Use the link at the bottom of this post to download all of the free versions of these maps.
