EXTRA FEB VIDEO - 1st Solo Performance EVER! (Patreon)

The extra video of the month is one that marked the beginning of my singing journey.

This was the very first time I ever performed an original song live, solo. This video cracks me up cause you can hear my mom cheering very loudly at the end. 😀 As she always does.

In this case, you can also hear her say, “Híjole!”… which is an equivalent to “holy crap!”. Haha! I think she was surprised (as I was) because I don’t think either of us had ever heard my voice truly out loud. I always sang quietly in my room. Or sang harmonies for others, or in a choir where I had to blend. I had no idea what my voice was really like. 

There were about 1,200 people there. I was terrified, I can’t even explain it. This was a song/performance contest. After the song was over, all I could think about was that I forgot to change into my nice, female fancy shoes. I went out in tennis shoes. haha!

It was a blur. I ended up winning 1st place.

This is a moment that still makes me feel butterflies in my stomach when I remember. Hehe!

The song is called Puerta Abierta. Open Door. The lyrics, translated (poorly) to English are:
