Content

Hey everybody, I've been pretty inspired to work on some game design aspects of the game this month. And as we make more content, it's important to make the game deliver it all in the best way possible.

I've been working on a lot on how the game flows, adding a new control scheme for moving between passages (as pictured) and optimizing the time for passage transitions. The panel under the main window will now show links that were usually at the end of the page, so you won't need to scroll anymore for passages you've already read. The number keys can also be used to select them. As someone who went through the game hundreds of times by now, it's awesome to have everything be so much faster!

I've also been thinking about having a progression for the maximum size that the player can grow. It's currently difficult for non-macro players to keep a reasonable height and too easy for macro players to grow so much that numbers become blurred and hard to convey.

I'm experimenting with ways to make limits for sizes that can be broken upon completing certain milestones or gaining abilities. The goal is to make growth a bit more of a journey that recquires more than a good combo of fight moves and abilities. This also means that size tiers will become stronger, making players truly feel the power of being a giant roaming the barrens.

I also want to tweak the flow of combat a bit. I'm experimenting with ressources to make long and interesting combos being given for free every turn. This idea is looking promising so far, it grants an increasing pace to the fight that all players and builds can appreciate.

On the content side of things, I'm hard at work with writers and artists to keep putting more fun encounters and rooms to the nyx dungeon. Not sure if these will be ready for this month's release but you can trust me that there's a lot of fun stuff in the works. <3

I've also been looking into hiring more people on the art side. So hopefully I can have more art on a more consistent basis, so expect new lovely drawings to show up in-game.

So yeah, lots of exciting stuff are coming to the build, it's really awesome to see the game flow being so much faster already. While testing stuff I ended up just randomly doing encounters and leveling up, and before I knew it, half an hour had passed. This is the kind of flow I want to have for players who finished the game a few times, where they can steamroll early game in a few minutes and then explore the bits they haven't experienced in earlier playthroughs.

I hope you enjoy these improvements as much as I do!
