My husband was born and raised in Austin/ central Texas, we've thought about returning because we miss Austin a lot but the insane house prices and rents have permanently slammed the door on that idea. It was hard enough to buy a house in the suburbs when we bought back in 2013, it'd be totally impossible for us now. The thought of the city being flooded with Elon and Rogan types, plus covid, has made me miss Austin a little less though.
