It's a big letdown, but I don't think it's a good move for the Progressive Caucus to kill the bill. Even if it's less than a half measure, we're out of time to wait for the right moment to pass any climate legislation.

We should keep pushing for a green new deal and not let this suck any energy out of that. But if this is the best thing we can get out of this Congress given Manchin, Sinema, and others' naked corruption, I think we need to campaign against that kind of corruption and elect a Congress that will do what the crisis demands in ending fossil fuel extraction and combustion as soon as possible. That should be on any Senate or House candidate's platform in 2022 and 2024. Yes, the Democratic party sucks and organizing outside electoral politics is important but seriously, if the Dems lose control of either chamber in Congress or gain no seats, what's the path for something better? Greed Over Planet GOP will only keep hitting the gas pedal as we careen over the climate cliff.
