Hey y'all,

It's the first week of the month, so that means a Think Tank episode this weekend. If you'd like to suggest any topics or ask a question respond to this post here and we will get to them on the Sunday Show.

Appreciate y'all!

I would really love your list of top books to read for someone who is just finding progressivism.

In 1981, Mitterrand took power in France with Communist support and began funding social programs and nationalizing certain sectors of the economy. He came to power espousing socialist goals and inherited a floundering economy. Within a few years France lost $5 billion to capital flight. It seems like we in America, were we to successfully elect enough socialists to try to implement structural changes and a redistribution of wealth through progressive policies would probably experience something similar vis-a-vis capital flight, which would probably have negative effects on our economy that could doom any socialist project. What should/could be done to obviate or mitigate a move like that by capital interests?

This is a great questions Abe, it came after we recorded but we should use it again in the future. Mitterand is a fascinating case and there are some lessons to be learned from that experience, and thinking about capital flight is something David talks about a lot. here is a video he did for Jacobin last year on the subject https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P28TqwTHnok
