In high school freshman year I signed up for JV soccer and on the first day of summer practice the coach said no illegals would make the team. I finished the first practice and never went back. I had to come up with two different stories. One for my dad telling him I didn’t make the team even though he knew I had the skills and another for my friends telling them my dad asked me to quit because of expenses. I didn’t want to tell my dad what the coach said because I didn’t want him to go to the school because I was afraid my friend would find out I was illegal. As a 14 year old kid I didn’t know better so I was extremely stressed out and depressed about the whole situation.
