You've really outdone yourself with this one! Amazing job!

Hugo Segal

"The script is the heart and soul." If only some quote, unquote "professionals" in the industry knew that.

On a side note, we already have an "adult" Muppet project. It was called "Avenue Q."

I seen this movie in theaters back in late summer of 2018 and I thought it was not only bad, but came out as one of the most disappointing films of 2018. It has a great concept of what could’ve been the next Sausage Party with Who Framed Rodger Rabbit style, only to came out underwhelming with the best jokes so far is from the red band trailer. I can’t blame the actors including McCarthy or Brian Henson as a director that were involved in this movie as the script or studio distributor STX Entertainment are the ones that deserve blame the most that kills this movie. I never saw it again after seeing in theaters so I have no interest in rewatching it again. Best way to describe it: great concept, bad execution.

Funny enough, one of the few good movies where the animation is pulled of better than the script is perhaps Fantasia because there are almost no words in that movie and it's like the animation and music are the script themselves. It's a movie that lets the animation speak to its audience.

The movie itself is like being careful about the ingredients of a recipe, but screwing up the cooking... You end up with a bitter taste at best. Also, at the 11:52 mark, the DVD box with the moon-face is one of my presents to AniMat back in his WITB episodes!

The script truly is the most important element of a movie. You definitely did an amazing job with this review Mat.

And there’s another good lesson to benefit from the film and this review other than how the script can make or break the movie. That is constant swearing, sexual innuendos, drugs, and gross-out humor don’t make a movie raunchy. That also has to do with how the script is written and how effectively the raunchy humor is used.

Hunter O'Laughlin

I really liked that you did a noir tone for this review to emphasize the topic of the film you’re reviewing. I find it interesting that you’re using different tones for your film reviews based on the theme of the film you review. I think it’s great that you’re experimenting with different film techniques for your reviews. It makes them really more interesting to watch than you using the standard method of reviewing films with just you sitting in your room and talking about the film. I can’t wait to see how your future Patreon requested reviews will go with this new style. And if you want to watch something with puppets that’s for adults that’s actually funny and doesn’t rely on over-the-top raunchy humor, watch Jeff Dunham’s shows. He’s actually funny and his humor comes from the personalities of his characters. My family and I, especially my eldest brother Tim love watching him. And we always watch the Halloween and Christmas special every year. Those are also great! My favorite characters are Achmed the Dead Terrorist and Jose Jalapeño on a Stick.

It’s no secret the movie suffers from a weak script as writer myself, I would say it is hard to write a convincing script for noir film in general but I’m in the middle of writing something crazy so that’s normal. My honest would have been 5/10 I don’t blame anyone but the writer and if Henson Alt. Studios would be interested you can do something mature with the Muppets if you have the right writers.

Hugo Segal

Technically off-broadway, but yes. "Avenue Q" is a parody of "Sesame Street," yet the crass and raunchy humor is actually backed up by a book that organically weaves the off-color undertones into each plotline.

Hugo Segal

The screenwriters were Todd Berger ("Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Furious Five" and "Secrets of the Masters") and Dee Austin Robertson (a short film writer with various other industry jobs on features such as "Stuart Little 2" and "Flushed Away"). You would think they'd have passed a "Screenwriting 101" class.

Hugo Segal

Or if you want parody/satire with Muppets done right, watch "Avenue Q!"
