As we conclude February, I've been blasting off a whole bunch of reviews that are coming this Spring (and to prepare myself for Disney's new movies next month). After the slow downs from the previous weeks, it was nice to get fully back and really get a bunch of videos set and ready to be comfortably ahead while I also prepare for the next parts of AL:WDAS+. Speaking of which, here are my highlights of this week.
- Released Part 5 of AL: Walt Disney Animation Studios +: My first part without Walt Disney in the story, or at least without him fully involved with the features that got released during his time. I knew the most important part would be the opening to mention his death and I planned out so much of how to do it and improve upon the original's take on it. Turned out to be my favourite part of the feature and was interesting trying out an emotional scene meant to make the viewer shed a tear. Following the rest, it was a surprising adventure to create that I underestimated from all the research I had to do for Winnie the Pooh to editing the recycled animations of Robin Hood to sync with the originals'. But still, it was a lot of fun looking into one of the more overlooked periods of Disney, but funny how this one is a transition part where I left Walt, but soon will enter into the crazy realm of Michael Eisner.
- Working on more AniMat's Classic Reviews: While I did manage to work on one last week, I got to polish and fully finish that off along with creating another review during this week. I realized that it did take a little more time than usual not just because of executing some bold ideas and gags for the upcoming ones, but also because my luck made it so that I'm doing more musicals than usual and have to spend a bit more time to add the Songs and discuss what made them work/not work. They were quite a handful, but it's good to have them done and ready to present them when the time comes. For now, it's nice to get back into reviewing fully animated features after this whole month...but that don't mean those types of reviews are done for now...
- Working on some Special Reviews: Yes, even after the week after week of special reviews and reviewing different types of movies, I got a couple more set up that will be out around Spring time. One that I have completed so far with possible revisions in the future this week will be one of my more unique reviews (in terms of the subject that I will review) and another that I am working on right now is another special movie. Funny enough, the most that I could say about this is that I promised my friends I would eventually check out and possibly review to "complete the set". I'll keep it vague, but when it's released, you'll get what I mean. I'll see if I can focus myself on having a lot of it done by this weekend to be ready for the next project, but I think I've trained my critic side enough to be ready for when Onward comes out next week.
And that has been my week of doing a variety of reviews. I'm glad I got all those out of my system to be ready for the next big project, but this was a week I needed to get a good amount of smaller videos done. So, until next time...
See ya later, dudes!
