Fourteen billion years ago, two molecules tried to hump each other and wound up exploding, triggering a series of events that led to the creation of our universe. Or something like that, I don't know I'm not a scientist.

Point is, some protozoans fucked in a puddle, turned into fish, grew legs, became monkeys, etc. Since then, countless nations have risen and fallen. Wars were fought. Ages came and went. Humans hewed stone into blades, then drew iron from the earth to forge swords, then smelted steel. As the ages wore on, humanity conquered the earth with great cities, with sky scrapers, with tanks, with machines, with automobiles. They conquered the skies with planes, the heavens themselves with satellites. Humans conquered the realm of thought with complex machines able to perform calculations faster than any mere mortal mind. Humans provoked the jealousy of the gods by splitting the atom.

Every moment since the day our ancestors first clawed their way out of the primordial goop--every war, every birth, every death, every invention, every triumph, every tragedy--all of it has led to this: Hex v0.0.5α is coming out on Wednesday, the 27th.

The release of Hex may just be one small link in the great causal chain of reality, but I like to think all our fish and monkey ancestors are smiling down upon us, witness to this moment of triumph. If that creepy fish with legs could see us now, what sort of expression would be on his face? Joy? Pride? Hope? One of the great cruelties of life is that we can never know.
