An important Billing update from Patreon! (Patreon)

Hey guys, we have some important news to share with you: Patreon has decided to introduce a simpler way to charge NEW patrons, and we have decided to switch to this new billing way. From now on, every NEW patron that joins will be billed monthly on the day they joined.

This modality works in a very similar way to streaming services such as Spotify and Netflix. The way many of you have expected it to work.

Context: The way Patreon has been charging your subscription until now is by billing you on the first of every month, independently of what day of the previous month you joined.

For example: If somebody joined any of our tiers on the twenty-fifth of a month, they would be charged that day, but then they would be charged again on the first of next month, instead of the twenty-fifth to enjoy a full month.

This has, as you could expect, created some problems for both patrons and creators alike. Some people have wanted to join, but if it is too late in the month, they would reconsider it, but with the introduction of this new billing modality, from now on charges can be made monthly on the day of joining, ensuring that you will get a full month of subscription.

Once again, in a very similar way to streaming services. So, if you were to join, for example, on the thirteenth of October, your next charge would be on the thirteenth of November a full month after.

IMPORTANT: This change will ONLY apply to our NEW patrons. If you’re already supporting us, your charges will keep happening, as they have been, on the first of every month. This could only change if you were to pause your membership or create a new account, and then join once again; from that point on, your charges would happen on the day that you rejoined.
