Hi.
Now I'm checking the sales statistics on affect3d and it looks like the site has significantly lost its audience.
Do you have any idea where people could go from this site?

Sales are three times less if we compare the releases of "Monster Tamers 1" (2021) and Monster Tamers 2 (2024).
I don't know. Maybe in the current reality, image sets are completely outdated and no one needs them?

Maybe the idea itself in image set is unsuccessful?
Don't be shy about talking. What do you think is wrong here?

I don’t think people who have already seen it on Petreon will buy it again, right?

Stavo

Personally, I came from affect3d, so that is one sale 😅

CrazyPotato

And these days, the trend is AI and 3D animation... Just looking at the images, I feel like it's behind the trend. I guess that can't be helped. I'm not picky, but...

RealAnarchy

Probably alot of factors. I for once, saw your post on X and thought it kinda looked like the first image set (which i bought). So i didn't really had any interest in buying it. I also kinda prefer animated videos significantly more by now. I hope my insight helped a bit :)

hold

Sure. I'm just trying to figure out where the people with a3d have gone.

Tommy Angelo

Inflation, it's a tough economy 🤷‍♂️

fanof3dartoftheworld

yes a3d has been dying for along time. especially since patreon/subscribestar came around. personally, I prefer image sets (with text) but I'm mainly into futa. not monster. but you do a mix so that's fine. and with a3d miro has gone full AI mode which is why his patreon has dropped to its lowest point. also the fact that he said patreon would offer sneak peeks/wips to his bloodlust news/updates/animations which he then edited out. and has now cancelled bloodlust or put it on hiatus to work on AI/game. and alot of stuff on the a3d store is now is just gallery packs or packs of ai stuff.

Twister

I only really care about the videos. The image sets are nice-ish as a bonus, but not something I'd pay for by themselves. Your quality is great, but the format isn't.

owansloth

Personally, I like the quality of your work regardless of whether it is a image set or not.

My assumption (without proof) is that miro has so damaged his brand and stature over the past 6 years(!) that the majority of the audience (and paying customers) who previously frequented A3D have left for better locations and sources. I warned miro via his Patreon almost 2 years ago now that if he continued on the course that he was setting, he would wind up as a Pirate King™ ... where few people wanted to actually buy what he was producing (or more appropriately, getting everyone aside from himself to produce for him). miro got VERY GOOD at producing "mediocre junk" (AI, "collaborations" with artists who did all the heavy lifting work for him, etc.) and he's been spiraling down the drain ever since. Consequently, A3D suffered as the "go to" site for 3DX to peruse and evaluate purchases. MOST of what is offered up for sale on A3D is stuff you can find on r34 for free, including a lot of repacks of stuff that's already available elsewhere. There was a time when I would visit the A3D site multiple times per week, particularly when the forums were still running there. Nowadays, I only visit A3D a few times per YEAR ... mainly out of morbid curiosity to see what's become of the place, rather than out of any interest to actually buy any of the wares to be had there. So A3D has gone from being "THE place to be" into becoming "a place to avoid" for the most part. Actually successful artists have moved elsewhere (subscribestar, patreon, etc.) and do not use A3D as their "gateway" to revenues anymore. And as the "good" artists left (including the miro of 10+ years ago), so too did the audience and fans move on. The market has changed ... and A3D is not the central clearinghouse for 3DX anymore like it was set up to be (and then failed to live up to). If I do a google search for "Monster Tamers 2" ... the A3D store page is only the 3rd link in the list and the July 2024 Update here on this patreon is the 8th link in the list. The second page of links includes the kemono mirror for this patreon page. The link to your Slushie page for promo images of MT2 doesn't even show up until page 3 of links. There are some other X.com users reposting your notice that MT2 is available on patreon and at A3D, but those links start at the end of page 2 into page 3 of links in the google search. On the plus side, it looks like no one has bothered to pirate MT2 and make it available for free yet.

As for the question about image sets ... Blender tech has advanced to the point where multiple artists can whip up short animations in a single day. Nyl2 set the trend with daily animation challenges that other artists joined in on. A LOT of 3DX is moving from static images into moving images, simply because you don't need to spend $50,000 on a render capable computer anymore, so the barrier to entry for animations is a lot lower. My take on the image sets question is more nuanced than just a Good/Bad binary answer. Image sets are FINE ... so long as there is STORY going on linking the images together, providing a narrative and pulling the audience along from one image into the next, giving a sense of progression and "getting somewhere" with the sequence of events in the still images. If you have a "compelling story" for why events are unfolding the way they are in the still images, then an image set can work perfectly fine as a product ... but you have to have a story to tell with them. Conversely, if you're just doing image sets that are "nothing but porn" where the only things happening are Poles In Holes and there's no "deeper meaning" to what is happening, then image sets lose their value and meaning. ANYONE can do porn images (good and bad, reasonable and unreasonable) ... but if the images aren't "reaching" for anything beyond the confines of the frame of the image itself (such as a sense of continuity, story and/or character development) then the image set can be perused once and then easily discarded. See it once, you've seen it all ... makes for an extremely "disposable" product that you aren't going to be interested in coming back to for replay value. If stuff "just happens" in an image set because Genre Demands It™ then that's going to be a lot less interesting to look at (because, porn by numbers, this is so predictable...) compared to something where "stuff happens" because Character Development™ demands it ... or there's a wider world going on beyond the edges of the image frames ... and there are Dramatic Reasons™ for why you are seeing what you are seeing and there is a sense of continuity driving things forwards. Any image set that does not INVITE the audience to become "invested" in the (sex) action that is happening on screen is going to be less satisfying the first time it is viewed ... and may not ever be looked at beyond the first time (because you've already seen all there is to see, right?). Compare and contrast that with an image set where the audience IS INVITED to become "invested" in watching events unfold on screen, to fall in love (and lust) with the characters, who behave like "real people" ought to in those situations, rather than as "sock puppets" for the artist to manipulate rather obviously. So image sets are FINE ... but only if the artist takes care to make the images about something MORE than just what you're looking at in each frame. As an artist you have to "do more" than just make some images ... they have to draw the audience in and pull them along, inviting the audience to immerse themselves in the (sex) action on screen and start empathizing/sympathizing with the characters that we are watching. There has to be an internal logic that is being followed, which allows situations and circumstances to progress and flow, creating characters and feelings that the audience can take part in and grow to love and want to return to.

I wouldn't say that image sets are "unsuccessful" ... but rather than animations are the "new hotness" in 3DX. More and more creators are getting into the habit of animating their characters in all kinds of sexy situations (from realistic to fantastical). With the improvements in Blender tech, it's now easier to animate 3DX than ever before ... and it's going to keep getting easier as time goes on. Consequently, there's a bit of "snobbery" going on, creating an presumption that animations are "better" than image sets. Of course, there's a LOT of really bad animation work out there to wade through before you can get to the "good stuff" but the presumption still remains. Animations are "more accessible" and easier to watch (most of the time) than working through still images. Perhaps a "best of both worlds" approach would be to use animations for all of the sex acts, but use still images for all of the foreplay and "in between" moments that can involve character interactions outside of sex acts. So stuff like entering the kitchen and putting the kettle on, that can be done in still images. Having your sex partner sneak up behind you, can be done in still images. Getting bent over the counter and fucked hard can be an animation. Savoring the afterglow of a powerful orgasm can be done in still images. Looking smug while sex fluids drip onto the floor can be still images. That kind of thing. Just like how television and movies do not need to show every moment in real time (so "boring stuff" gets cut to move things along at a decent pace), so to do 3DX products not need to be animated throughout their entire runtime (to save on production). Important stuff ought to be animated, but you don't have to animate EVERYTHING, necessarily.

To put it politely ... miro LOST THE PLOT of Bloodlust ... and hasn't been at all interested in picking it back up again. Then rather than admit the truth about what happened, he just kept stringing people along until the reserves of trust were exhausted (and then overdrawn). At this point, miro is basically "strip mining" his own IP, rather than actually creating anything.

fanof3dartoftheworld

i do know some of behind the scenes stuff prior to this happening. that I can't share. but I really wish he never made the first bloodlust. and just continued on with g4e like everyone was asking for. although I did like bloodlust part 2. I hated the locations. especially the chandelier part. (that's got to be the worst location I've ever seen) and then I found it funny he pretty much fired an employee who wasn't a fan of what he was doing through patreon comments.

fanof3dartoftheworld

would really love to see some more beds/couch/table sex instead of random kitchen/whatever random place.

fanof3dartoftheworld

But it is a bit like with epoch art. before he went to prison (hahah deserved. yes I know why) he was very popular. he tried to do more and more but was making it worse in my opinion.

IBT

I agree, miro should have just kept going with Sayako and Tara, making more G4E. BL2 had some good moments in it, but a LOT of it was "a waste of time" to watch (let alone make). miro has long had a "zero tolerance" policy towards dissent. Unfortunately, honest critiques of "what went wrong and should have been done better" ... to say nothing of "analysis of alternatives" that should have been done to make a better product ... will often times fall into the "you're being insufficiently LOYAL" bucket and get rejected out of hand. Insufficient sycophancy is therefore a Firing Offense.

fanof3dartoftheworld

agreed. and now he is having sayako and tara fucking others. it was good because they were a couple. and that's ruined it for me now. imo more isn't always better.

Kurenai

I love your work but i'm lacking the money to spare for art, big sad >:(

Randy White

miro lost me a long time ago. I enjoyed both G4E and Bloodlust, but then he went off on multiple tangents and lost all focus. He deplored any kind of honest criticism, no matter how constructive. I understand an artist focusing on what they like to do (I like Xalas' style, but I have zero interest in a foot fetish), but miro couldn't even focus on a couple themes/genres. Too many projects got started and then left to rot. Not a fan of AI either.

Randy White

I much prefer supporting an artist directly on Patreon or Subscribestar without having to also have them share their earnings with sites like a3d. If I find someone on a3d, and then see they have their own Patreon, etc., I'll pay them monthly instead of going through the third party. I Patreon takes their own percentage, but I feel a closer connection to the artist on these sites, and communication goes both ways without being reduced to a simple transaction.

fanof3dartoftheworld

im not a fan of foot fetish either. but I do love stockings and high heels. but just the characters wearing them nothing else. and yep its sad miro went down the rabbit hole.

Brain in a vat

I avoid paying for image sets unless the art is like really unique/good/captures a kink I don't see anywhere else and there is a story to it. Otherwise its interactive content and videos.

Nykwölf

Honestly? From my point of view and especially from my taste it's because of Miro and his work now. Plus new and new low working projects. For example before.. I really don't know how long. but I mean 6-7 years? He released Bloodlust Cerene. Masterpiece (The futa on female of course) And then there was Lord Kvento, Detomasso, Lanasykroft and many others (includes you of course) And sell really amazing good looking projects. But now? Some AI, some I can't even say good looking porn because so massive tits with botox with weirds poses are really Well.. Weird. Now Detomasso end, Miro is master of false like Loki, Lanasy with Kvento working on some games and the really great content is gone and there is only few creators who add something.. That's why I am so glad that you release new work. It's really beautiful. but for me A3d is dead.. Or worse.. Zombificated dead but still alive.

John Gonzales

For me personally, image sets don’t really get me going like animations, comics, and doujins do. Pretty much the reason why I support you is because I enjoy your style and you fill a kink of mine (stomach deformation and inflation). I really say anything about what’s going on, on the A3D site

MasterYoda

I bought a lot of sets back then there, but for me it is too vanilla now. The only worth sets for me currently are yours and Jared999d and now I am a Patreon of both, so I don't need to buy the sets on affect3d.

Penumbra

For me Miro is what got me into Affect3d and seeing as they've pretty much left the scene I can understand why the site has lost traffic. You and Jared999 have kept my interest in the site, rightfully so as both of the works are incredible, but Miro's work on Lady of the Tower and Cerene certainly holds a place due to them being my introduction to the site and its creators. In my opinion Image sets are successful in their own right but they can't be all that holds a creator's portfolio together forever. Slayed.Coom, just a reference as an example, has branched out over the past few years into lengthier animations. Even though they can be somewhat memey at times, they still hold some good quality work. Just my opinion, plz don't attack

Mountndoit

Personally, galactic limit is what got me to sub here. As for monster tamer, I like the concept and artwork but images sets aren't really for me.

Lobo.

It could be that the amount of AI generated material on the site is increasing, and that most of it is mediocre at best. But also the amount of piracy is enormous, Just as an excample, Amustevens latest work was available for free download within four hours after relase in A3D, people just don´t wanna by stuff anymore.
