Hey Early Access Patrons!

The first early access documentary of 2024 is a 95 minute nostalgia trip into the history of Monkey Island and a detailed design breakdown of the recent sequel. In it we talk to series founder Ron Gilbert, writer Dave Grossman and a host of new and returning crew members.

Monkey is one of my favorite games of all time - and the first game I ever completed. It was important to me to capture the design of Return but also to explain how important that game is by exploring other important aspects of it's release. Things like fandom, player expectation, nostalgia and cannon. This is very much a documentary which talks about the new game by exploring the games that went before it. I hope it's as much of a nostalgia trip for you as it has been for me.

Production wise this was a tricky doc to navigate as we had to wait for Disney to give the thumbs up for interviews on a few occasions, so apologies for the delay in getting it out. We worked as hard as we could to keep it moving and Disney & Lucas were very helpful. Also a massive thanks to Devolver Digital for making it happen, and to the Terrible Toybox team for giving us so much cool unseen artwork.

This is a 95% complete edit - I suspect there are some minor QA fixes required, but in terms of the script and the edit, it's a lock. And it probably goes without saying but there are spoilers for the new and old games in this. But chances are you've either played them, never will, or will have forgotten the doc by the time you do.

That said, if you have general or specific feedback on the documentary please drop timecodes in the comments and we'll take a look.
