The Job Roles podcast sounds excellent.

the one about which genre you don't get on with was me! but i forgot to change my name on patreon from my deadname to my actual name lol. oops! anyway, sort of a follow up, but JRPGs are also, weirdly, my "never ever" genre too, every one i've played i've bounced off of. i feel like that maybe means our tastes might align somewhat (based on other things i know you've enjoyed too) so i also just wanna ask if u can recommend me something cool! i've played a lot of stuff but my general knowledge of like.. older games or some smaller stuff is pretty non existant. so yeah.. rec me something!

Well nice to meet you Casey, sorry for the name confusion. As for a suggestion, Dredge is great if you've not played it yet. Terra Nil is chill and fun. I've also enjoyed Sons of the Forest and Disco Elysium a lot lately, and the new Zelda of course. Vampire Survivors still in rotation and a great cheap get if you've not done so already. Hope some of those work!

Casey Holloway

ooooh i've been meaning to check out sons of the forest and terra nil actually! the rest i have played! (dredge fuckin rules!)

My never ever are platformers, Rogue-likes, and Souls-likes. Everybody has their own tastes.

Casey Holloway

oh interesting! souls"likes" i tend to bounce off too because i just don't think anyone does it as well as From do, but the mainline soulsbornering games i really like/love

Jazz Jackrabbit

The volume is a bit low on this video. Not a big deal but just letting you know.

oh yea you're right, sorry about that. ill make note of it for next time.

Mark Rojas

Thanks for all the hard work. The forbidden genres for me would def be battle royales and 4x. Sorry it’s so stressful but if it’s any consolation your attention to detail and professionalism really shows in the vids. I really can’t wait to see that old footage your working on rn too.

You 100% do not need to worry about the subject matter of the podcast, unless it becomes chronically off-topic. The actual thing that pushed me over the edge to sign up for my first ever patreon, and the beloved Battle Pass no less, was catching up on episodes and hearing Frank tell us about the fucking Morbius discord server. That's the most ridiculous shit ever, and it's also something I would never find. That's a novel and unique thing that forms a connection between me and the crew. Gaming news or produced segments would work better away from the podcast. The podcast is the hang. Information overload has been a thing for years, the new hot shit is authentic human connection. And that can be found here, in a group of friends who love games and making art.

oh man I had a collection of about 10 years worth of pc gamer magazine from the early 90's (95 onward I think) but I had to toss it when cleaning out my old bedroom at my parens' still I kept all of the demo CDs that came with those! also have a bunch Next Generation magazines from that same era, it's not a ton, fits in a single box but if frank wants to drop by and pick it up (I'm in LA) haha I dont have a ton of need to keep it forever

noclip

Oh that’s rad, yeah we may do that. Where in LA are you generally?

Shahar Eldar

just did a quick scan over, looks like it's about 5 years' worth from 1995 - 2000 and next generation magazines from 1996 - 1999 I'm a bit south of the tar pits and miracle mile
