Hey folks!

This is going public in a few mins, but I thought I'd share it with you folks ahead of time. The full feature looks to be running just under an hour and will be live on Tuesday the 31st of January.

This has a bit of a different tone to the two projects we've previously worked on. The focus is very much on the subject, and not the game.  So I tried to mirror that in the trailer. I'm a little terrified at how people will react to the trailer, but hopefully they get where it's coming from. Time will tell!

There will be some Patron only bonus stuff and a bunch of Q&A and behind the scenes things dropping next week too.

Let me know what you think of it!

Oh Danny your brave wonderful bastard. I really respect how you try new things with almost every piece you make. This looks fantastic and the perfect follow up to your DOOM masterpiece. Can't wait!

Joel Powley

Out of curiosity Danny, do you colour grade the footage? I think for the Ireland footage, it works with the flat colour profile and the overcast grey that the country naturally lends to the landscape, but I've noticed it on a few other videos as well. At time it feels like you could pump the saturation and contrast in certain shots. If it's an intentional look, I'll shut up. At any rate, I'm looking forward to this one! Cheers!

Yea we spend a lot of time grading the footage, and it's super intensional. I should upload a side-by-side or something, or maybe do a video on why it's graded the way it is if people are interested. I think having a consistent visual language is important for us right now, especially as we broaden our scope in terms of the stories we're telling. So yea, I can totally understand if the look is getting a bit old. Thanks for the feedback, it's really appreciated. Would love more input on this from others if you're reading this! :)

Thanks so much Benjamin. Hopefully it's a bit of a palette cleanser!

Joel Powley

That's great! I apologize if it seemed like a harsh criticism. I'm so used to seeing the flat look on the camera's RAW profile and watching people throw away the potential the camera offers in post. It's a habit of mine to make my clips much more colourful. But I'm glad you worked hard on it, shame on me for doubting your process.

Tory Thompson

I would love the BTS to show some technical stuff as well like the color grading, the thought process that goes into choosing exactly what clips to go where and your process in post, obviously not everyone will care but as a student studying filmmaking that stuff is highly interesting to me and I'm sure I am not alone!

Trevor Mason

This looks so great. I'm so happy to be supporting this, Danny!

Patrick O'Connor

I love the juxtaposition of all the token galway cobbles, the puffin and everything else with sudden doom stuff. It's both crazy surreal and glorious to think that he lives up in the Wesht. Really looking forward to this! Fair play sir !

Sorry for the re-upload spamming folks. We had some weird errors, let me tell you about it some day. (so stressed now!)

I am SO excited for the full feature. Mr. Romero is an idol to me in terms of being one of the creative minds behind two of my favorite franchises. I'm really curious to hear what he's up to. Tee minus three days and counting.

Trailer looks awesome Danny! Can't wait to watch the interview.

Looks awesome Danny! As a fellow DOOM and QUAKE enthusiast and a fan of Romero I can't wait!

yes I also thought the grading was a little flat especially for the land of green :) But if an intentional look then thats fine. Looking forward to it, if I was to be picky II would have filtered out the wind noise a little

I still can't over the fact that John Romero is now based in Ireland.

This was lovely, I didn't know much about the man but I feel like I took away some life lessons with the profile Danny.
