Hello you wonderful Patrons,

On September 12th we'll celebrate our sixth birthday, something that I am incredibly thankful for and proud of - especially given how tough the past few years have been on our ability to produce compelling documentaries.

In our sixth year we produced projects on Prey, Death's Door, Deathloop, Chivalry 2, DMA Design (GTA & Lemmings), The Forgotten City, Hotline Miami, Black Mesa, Among Us, Bloodborne PSX and Rogue Legacy 2 (coming next week). We launched a new series on Hyper Light Breaker, an entirely new channel in Noclip Crew (which produced videos on Tunic, Unpacking & Weird West), ran a weekly podcast, started work on our own game, showcased the gameplay from DOOM 4 and Ravenholm and dozens of patron exclusive podcasts and videos.

Right now we're also going through some important transitions internally. We're setting up shop in glorious the north bay, actively searching for a new studios space, working on big in-person studio docs again, developing a bunch of exciting side projects like Noclip Crew, our game, and working on some new ventures to help build the team out and give us more resources than ever before.

As we approach the big day I want to check in with you, our community of patrons, to hear what you'd like us to focus on, what you've been missing out on, what you'd be happy to see less of, and the docs you'd like to see.

So please get in the comments and let us know what you think of how we're doing and what you'd like from us in year seven?

We're happy for whatever feedback comes to you but if you want prompts:

  • What are you happy with?
  • What could you do without?
  • Where are we felling short?
  • What docs would you like in year seven?
  • What type of Noclip content do you enjoy the most?

There are no wrong answers so please be as truthful and open as you're comfortable being. We truly appreciate it.

There will be a birthday stream even on September 12th so keep your eyes peeled for that. We'll also have a big patron update next week with a bunch of project updates.

As ever thank you so much for your incredible support. Here's to our most exciting year yet.

Danny

What are you happy with? Everything is always done to a really high quality in general. I love the no clip crew content. Big studio docs and behind the scenes of the docs are generally what I enjoy the most. What could you do without? Don't think there is anything I would say to stop doing. In general a lot of the Indie studios don't always interest me as much. That said the Supergiant series and the astroneer docs are some of my favs. Maybe its more of a game by game thing that anything. Where are we felling short? I really miss the big on location docs. I realise thats not been possable in recent years though. What docs would you like in year seven? I would really love to see you guys do Bungie and or Halo. But in general more big studio docs and a return to the years 1-4 type of content as much as possible. What type of Noclip content do you enjoy the most? I started to list out ones that stood out for me but it ended up be pretty much most of the docs haha. FINAL FANTASY XIV always stood out for me though.

What are you happy with? - Noclip documentaries are always extremely high quality, have great interviews and behind-the-scenes insights, and honestly usually have an unexpected emotional impact with their arc. What docs would you like in year seven? - This is a long-shot dream, but one of my favorite Noclip documentaries was the FFXIV series. Not only because it's rare to get interviews with Japanese developers, but because it actually had such great life lessons on coming back from failure and managing a team through unknown waters (I go back and rewatch it from time to time). I'd *love* to have similar docs for "classic" JRPGs, specifically Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG. It might not be possible since the devs have moved out to different companies, but interviewing the "Dream Team" (Sakaguchi, Toriyama, Yuji Horii) and other legendary developers who worked on those games (e.g. Yoshinori Kitase (producer), Yasuniro Mitsuda (music)) would be amazing.
