Hey folks! Apologies if I ramble I'm writing this from a Chili's (is that how you spell it? The logo is just a bloody chili) in Oakland airport. It's the second one I've been here in 12 hours - Greg Miller was right about going solo invokes a lot of flying. I'm on my way to Austin - a trip that was originally to watch the F1 with my friend Drew and get some respite from my day job - which since going solo has evolved into a franker-work trip involving appearances on some Rooster Teeth podcasts and a number of meetings about possible future docs. In fact the past week has been really good on that front too. I can't say exactly what's planned but we're close to having all of 2017 booked up. So more flights to come! But I'm not here to talk about this flight, I want to tell you about myself and Jeremy's three days in Austin. We landed Sunday night and got in pretty late (midnight basically) thanks to a late flight. I blame all the LA Raiders fans clogging up OAK. The next day was crammed. We arrived at Psyonix that morning and started with an hour + long interview with Dave Hagewood - the founder of the company. We spoke to a number of staff members who have been there for over a decade. Dudes who started as interns helping on Unreal Tournament 2004 and are now responsible for a game that's sold....well, we'll get to that in the docs. We grabbed some time with Mike Ault - the guy behind every sound in the game and the launch soundtrack. He showed us the anatomy of a goal sound effect and spoke about getting his side project (Hollywood Principle) in the game. After 7 hours of interviews and b-roll shooting we headed over to the Gaslamp Tavern and grabbed some beers with a dozen awesome patrons who took time out of their lives to chat to us. It was an amazingly uplifting way to end such an exhausting day. Thanks again to everyone who came out - I'm hoping we can get back again sometime in 2017. Speaking of which we'll be doing a meet-up for Giant Bomb fans and Noclip patrons in Austin this Friday at 8PM at Gibson Bar on South Lamar Street. Come on over if you can! We're feeling really good about the footage we shot in Austin and will be shooting some interesting stand-ups (the parts where I talk) stuff in the Bay Area next week. My flight is gonna board soon so I gotta head out. The two Rocket League docs will be out by the end of this month and I guarantee they're gonna tell an interesting story. It feels so good to be able to say that now. In fact this past week has been exactly what I needed confidence wise. We went and shot the damn thing. Noclip' shooting calendar is filling up with incredibly exciting projects and everyone from viewers to developers and PR people believe in what we're doing. I truly believe that by the end of 2016 people will be taken aback by what we've produced. I think we're going to change the way people think about the limits of games coverage. I believe we're going to make timeless documentaries about everyone's favorite games and right now it feels like we're gonna keep doing it until there are no more stories to tell. I could not be more happy with how this is all going and I can't wait to tell you what else we have planned for the coming months. Sorry there's no live streams this week but I'll be shooting in Austin and making some cool stuff out of it once I'm back. Alright gotta shoot. Talk soon folks! Danny
